It had been one week since news about her published in the newspaper. The reporters were no longer chasing after her. They waited at the hospital's lobby for only three days then they were no longer interested in her story. Probably the O'Ryan had settled this mess however Mia didn't receive any legal notice being served to her. She had been expecting for that but there was no sign of it.
Mia spent most of her resting time by lying on the bed as she had no energy to get out of the bed. Even Aunt Su served her meals in the bedroom that once her mother, Lucy slept in. Often times, she became sentimental thinking about her adopted parents which caused her to be on mood swings.
Sometimes, she was happily reminiscing the good memories of growing up alongside mom and dad but sometimes, her happiness bubbles exploded into sadness when she thought about the bank records. When the sun rose, she would be feeling thankful to mom and dad for raising her up in a nice environment rather than abandoned her when she was a baby but then when the night fell, she would be crying in pain continuously until dawn.
Her mind was so confused. At times, she would be thinking about what Noah had said to her during his visit.
"Do you think your foster parents' death just a pure accident?" These words had been haunted her since that day.
Yes, even if her adopted parents had sold her off, it didn't mean they didn't love her right? Probably there was an unknown reason as to why they accepted that money. After all, they did raise her up when she wasn't even their daughter. That was the least thing she could to repay them back by fighting justice over their death.
But to take on an act of revenge... wasn't her type at all. She hated to make enemies and life wasn't as simple as just taking revenge. It went beyond that. You would be haunted by feeling guilty, uneasiness and anxious in both situations as to whether you fought for them or chose to let go. You would never feel the peace again. If you could find the cure to these feelings then you survived but what did you get lost in the midst of these overwhelming pain? You would be left in a crazy spiral of emotional sufferings. Were those feelings worth of this fight?
Mia forced herself out the bed and looked for her phone. After retrieved it, she scrolled her newly added contact list as she wiped off the beads of sweats on her face. Her heart still hesitated. Her stomach knotted up showing the sign of nervousness and anxiousness. Her heart was almost convinced her to call the new contact number but her mind told her not to. Unknowingly, she kept on clasped and unclasped her free hand several times and she also chewed her dry lips causing the skins to be peeled off.
No! She could not hesitate any more. Gathering her courage while taking deep breaths, Mia took her phone and dialled that contact.

Tut... Tut... The line got connected.
"h.e.l.lo. This is Casey Hugh from Aurora. Who's on the line? What can I help you?"
".... uh ... This is Mia... Mia Wilson..."
"Oh, Ms Wilson! I've been waiting for your call. How're you? I heard that you've discharged from the hospital. Is your injury getting better?"
"I'm fine Ms Hugh. Erm... I... I need your help but this isn't about me. Are you free to meet up?"
"Huh? Erm.. okay... I can go to your house if you don't mind. You're still weak to move around. Just text me your address and I'll be there tomorrow afternoon. Is that sound good?"
"Alright. If so, see you tomorrow."
Mia cut off the line and then sent Casey the address as suggested.
Was she doing the right thing?
Mia then took out the same envelope she received from Noah and began re-reading the words written there. Coincidentally, Aunt Su came in to bring her lunch.
"What are you doing, my dear? You've not fully recovered. You must have your rest properly so that you can heal faster."
Mia quickly hid the envelope below the pillow and covered that place in a non-suspicious manner.
"It's just some of my old doc.u.ments. What did you cook today? You've pampered me so much. I feel guilty for freeloading here." Mia successfully directed the topic of their conversation. She didn't want to let Aunt Su know about this or another one more person would be heartbroken.
"Haiyaa... It's not a burden at all. Look, it's your favourite. Chicken porridge. I remember your mom telling me in her e-mails that whenever you feel sick, you'll crave to eat this. Here, taste it."
"Oh! About the e-mail that mom once sent you, can you forward them to me?... uh... It's delicious Aunt Su. It tastes like mom's." Mia asked while taking a few spoons of the porridge into her mouth.
"Eat more... finish the bowl and just let it here. I'll come back to clean it up after I forward the emails to you. I've been forgotten about it since the last time you ask."
Mia nodded her head obediently and continued eating. Aunt Su felt happy seeing this child ate more than usual. She then walked away and did the thing she had promised that had been long overdue. Not that she didn't want Mia to look for her biological parents but the condition didn't allow her to do so. Things had been hectic these days.
