Chapter 48 - Lu Bin Is Here

Chapter 48: Lu Bin Is Here

“Appraiser Lin, your clothes… I- I’ll buy you a new set,” the bull’s owner suddenly said.

However, Lin Jin waved his hand. “That’s alright. They’re just bloodstains. It’ll be gone after I wash it.”

He obviously didn’t mind it.

The workers and the foreman suddenly felt a sincere admiration for Lin Jin.

Since it was a small issue, Lin Jin decided not to mull over it nor did he ask for a service fee.

Suddenly, someone called out, “Appraiser Lin!”

Lin Jin turned around to see a tall old man in black clothing.

And the man looked oddly familiar.

Oh right! This man was the entourage of that weirdo Lin Jin met one day ago at the association. Not only did this old man refuse to pay up, but before he left, he even beat up Lin Jin and Xiao Huo.

“It’s you? What are you doing around my home? What do you want from me?” Lin Jin’s expression immediately darkened. Xiao Huo let out a low growl, ready to pounce at the man.

This old man in black clothing was none other than Lu Bin who came rushing over from Jade Dragon City’s imperial palace.

The sixth’s princess He Yu was unconscious and the imperial physicians were at their wit’s end. Lu Bin recalled what Lin Jin had said the day before yesterday in Maple City so he made his way here, latched onto the final ray of hope to save the sixth princess.

Of course, he kept his identity a secret and had no intention of revealing it either. He had first gone to the Beast Appraisal Association but couldn’t find Lin Jin. After asking around, he found his way here just in time to witness Lin Jin treating that bull.

The person who held the bull’s owner back just now was him as well.

Lu Bin had witnessed the entire process of Lin Jin saving the old bull. Although it was a small matter, Lu Bin managed to tell how extraordinary Lin Jin was.

If his assumptions were correct, the old bull was suffering from an internal vein rupture. There was practically no cure for such a condition and the animal was destined for death. Despite this, Lin Jin still managed to rescue its life.

After witnessing this scene, Lu Bin knew that Lin Jin was a highly competent figure.

Also, with his keen observation, Lu Bin realized that one day ago, Lin Jin’s pet beast was merely a Rank 1 fire wolf. There was nothing special about it, but in two days’ time, it seemed to have shed its skin completely. Lu Bin could even pick up hints of intimidation from the creature.

With his unique identity and peerless skills, for Lu Bin to feel threatened, the fire wolf definitely wasn’t another low-leveled as a Rank 1 or 2 pet beast. He suspected that Lin Jin’s fire wolf must have achieved Rank 3.

But who could consecutively promote their pet beast’s rank in such a short time? It was practically impossible. Hence, Lu Bin held Lin Jin in higher regard. And since he was here to request for the man’s help, Lu Bin acted with much respect.

“Appraiser Lin, I had been too rash the other day. I hope you can forgive me for my mistakes.”

Lu Bin held a palm over his fist in salutation. If any of the dignitaries in the imperial palace saw this scene, their jaws would drop to the ground. Why on earth was the prestigious General Lu acting this courteous to a mere Rank 1 Beast Appraiser!? Apologizing to Lin Jin? He was pretty much doing the unimaginable!

Lin Jin had no idea who he was but somehow, he sensed that the old man was a respected individual.

When the old man attacked him last time, with just a finger, the Museum of Deadly Beast was triggered. Lin Jin later realized that if he came in contact with friars who cultivated blood contracts, he could indirectly receive information on the pet beast of said friar.

This old man dressed in black was the strongest person Lin Jin had met so far.

Lin Jin disliked trouble, preferring to keep a low-profile instead so he could enjoy life. It was quite obvious that this old man was a dignitary, therefore, if he could, it was best to stay away from such individuals.

For the old man to initiate an apology, something bad must be following suit so Lin Jin casually replied, “It’s just a small matter. I’ve forgotten it so don’t let it bother you that much!”

Having said that, he intended to slip away.

It hadn’t been a few days since Lin Jin transmigrated, so he didn’t want to get involved in any trouble. As for why this old geezer was here, it didn’t take a genius to figure out that something must have happened to that cross-dressing girl. Lin Jin shouldn’t have opened his big mouth back then.

Seeing that Lin Jin was about to leave, how could Lu Bin just let him get away? He quickly stopped Lin Jin and said, “Appraiser Lin, please wait. I have come here with a request.”

“What is it?” Lin Jin asked calmly, albeit deliberately.

Lu Bin took a deep breath before explaining, “The day before yesterday, with your great insight, Appraiser Lin managed to tell that my young master was cursed. Today, I am specifically here to request your medical services.”

‘I knew it.’

Just thinking about that incident annoyed Lin Jin. Back then, he had spoken up out of goodwill. Not only did they refuse to listen, the old man even beat him up. Now, they come requesting his services instead. Did they assume that Lin Jin didn’t have a temper?

‘Also, why should I help you guys?’

Lin Jin immediately shook his head. “Mr. Lu, perhaps you’ve found the wrong person? I’m a beast appraiser, not a physician.”

A person like Lu Bin could easily tell that Lin Jin still bore hard feelings. He might have said that it was just a small matter and that he had forgotten about it, it was evident that Lin Jin was still annoyed by what had happened.

“Appraiser Lin, I was at fault that day. My young master is currently in a fatal condition, so if this could help calm Appraiser Lin’s anger and gain your assistance, I am willing to offer my arm as an apology.”

The old man bowed in salutation. Having said that, he actually unsheathed a dagger from his waist with the intent of amputating his left arm with it.

Lin Jin’s scalp prickled at the sight of this.

“Xiao Huo!”

The Rank 3 Xiao Huo was connected with Lin Jin in mind. With a swift dash, he pounced at Lu Bin to stop the latter from hurting himself.

Still, the dagger had already plunged six inches into Lu Bin’s arm. Dark red blood oozed out from the wound almost immediately.

Having lived in both worlds, Lin Jin felt that he had seen many things but it was his first time meeting such a bold person. They had barely conversed and the man had already set about harming himself. Was he mad?

Lin Jin couldn’t understand him so out of desperation, he made Xiao Huo stop him.

However, he failed to notice the cunning glint in Lu Bin’s eyes.

When faced with such a dauntless man, Lin Jin was out of ideas. He had never met anyone like him before and didn’t know how to handle him. And so, both men went to a nearby tea house which had private rooms. Lu Bin tossed a silver ingot to the staff to ensure that they had absolute privacy and that there would be no eavesdropping.

“Appraiser Lin, I was too blind to recognize your caliber the other day. Appraiser Lin is a kind-hearted man. You offered your help to the old bull because you were unwilling to see it die. Now that there’s a fatally ill patient, how could you just stand by and watch? Since Appraiser Lin was able to tell the cause of the disease, you must have a way to treat it. Whether or not the treatment works, Lu Bin will never forget your kindness.”

Admittedly, Lu Bin had a way with words, knowing how to capture his target’s heart.

Lin Jin wore a frustrated expression as he contemplated.

Lu Bin continued, “Right, I’ve yet to introduce myself. I am…”

Lin Jin quickly held up a hand to stop him.

“Don’t tell me. Please don’t tell me. I’m not interested in knowing who you are. I’m also not interested in that cross-dresser and I don’t want any other trouble.”

Lin Jin was speaking from the heart. It took a certain type of person to be able to amputate oneself in front of everyone, and so abruptly at that. He was probably not your average Joe.

He was probably a dignitary. Probably a notorious bandit leader. Lin Jin had a feeling that it was the latter, but regardless of who he was, he didn’t want to be acquainted with such a dangerous person.

As for that cross-dresser, the curse she carried was too terrifying. At least, that was what the museum said. Even by thinking with just his toes, Lin Jin could tell that this wouldn’t be a good deal.

Now, Lin Jin could only pray that he wouldn’t be dragged into this mess so he could carry on being a happy-go-lucky little beast appraiser. He couldn’t afford this adventure but he could at least try to avoid it.

Immediately, he took a brush and paper to write down: Consume the nine water floating cloud pill with dragon blood grass. Take it once a day. The method to refine a nine water floating cloud pill is…

After he was done, Lin Jin handed the paper to the man and said, “This is the treatment method. You just have to follow these instructions. Uhm, it’s getting late so I won’t keep you around for dinner.”

Taking his things, Lin Jin got up to leave.

Lu Bin didn’t stop him this time because he was stunned by the contents on the paper.

“This… this is a prescription for the nine water floating cloud pill with such a detailed refining method. And he just gave this to me like that?”

Lu Bin wasn’t overreacting. Instead, it was really that big of a deal.

Since ancient times, prescriptions were individual treasures that were never meant to be shared. Take the pelletization master of Jade Dragon City’s imperial palace for example, one could only request for a pill and he would give you the final product. But the prescription? Dream on! Even if you offered a mountain of gold, no, a mountain of spirit stones, you could never obtain the prescription from him.

Hence, for a moment there, Lu Bin assumed that Lin Jin had merely scribbled down nonsensical words on the paper.

However, Lu Bin had a very basic knowledge of medicine. Although he couldn’t tell the authenticity of this prescription, the theory sounded right.

‘It doesn’t matter if it’s real or fake, we have to try it. If the prescription is real and if it saves the sixth princess, a man of this caliber shouldn’t be wasted in this small town of Maple City,’ Lu Bin mused.

Without further delays, he rushed out of the building, leaped onto the roof, and blew a whistle at the sky. A large eagle swooped down from above.

With its wings wide open, this large eagle was at least twenty feet long. No doubt it was a massive creature. Lu Bin jumped onto the eagle’s back before disappearing into the clouds.
