Chapter 353: Don’t Be Worried
Sword One walked in, smiling. Nothing seemed to make her happier than seeing her two masters being together.
She was holding the new dress she had just prepared.
While Sword One was helping Gu Chaoyan get dressed, Zhou Huaijin was drinking tea next to them. He asked, “The Young Duke must be recovering well, isn’t he? I will go and see him with you tomorrow. I haven’t seen him for a long time.”
As the Young Duke was mentioned, Gu Chaoyan thought of what his mother said.
She was not feeling very pleased, but she said nothing more, just replying, “Sure.”
Since it was just a conversation made between them, she was not going to mention it in case Zhou Huaijin got displeased. She could just pretend that she had said nothing to her.
She was going to marry Zhou Huaijin anyway, so time was going to help her to prove what she truly wanted.
When Gu Chaoyan got dressed, they ate a brief dinner before Zhou Huaijin left. Gu Chaoyan, however, was reading out of habit before going to sleep.
She read through the books, but it seemed that one book was missing from the stack she had brought.
She forgot for a moment about whether she had brought it anyway, so she picked another storybook and started to read.
There were many interesting books available at Madame Jiang’s home. Madame Jiang did not read many of them, so Gu Chaoyan believed that they used to be the General’s collection. Since Gu Chaoyan liked it, Madame Jiang asked Fu Bao to give her a whole stack of the books.
Gu Chaoyan liked all of them. So she read them.
She fell asleep when she got sleepy.
When she got up the following day, Zhou Huaijin was already there, and Sword One had already gotten breakfast for two ready.
The breakfast at the imperial hospital tended to be quite simple.
So after breakfast Zhou Huaijin and Gu Chaoyan went to the place where Zheng Chenyi was undergoing treatment.
As they were walking along the way, many people threw looks at them. Zhou Huaijin and Gu Chaoyan were walking shoulder to shoulder – they were getting engaged soon, so they did not need to worry about anything.
As they came to the door, Mrs. Duke North opened the door and was surprised and a little bit happy to see Zhou Huaijin right in front of her. “Lord Huai... are you here to see Chen?”
Then she saw Gu Chaoyan. She had no idea why the two of them were together. She assumed that they ran into each other at the gate. So she said to her, “Lady Chaoyan, greetings. The Dean said that Chen is doing well, so you don’t have to worry about him any more.”
Mrs. Duke North did not want Gu Chaoyan to pop up in front of her son that often, especially when she was aware that her son had fallen for this girl.
As long as they were apart from each other, they would forget each other too.
Zhou Huaijin frowned slightly. He did not like how Mrs. Duke North spoke to Chaoyan. It had been Chaoyan who saved her dying son when he was sent to the imperial hospital. So Chaoyan was his savior! How could she treat his savior like this? He almost had no chance to speak with Mrs. Duke North before, but as far as he knew, this woman should be a nice, friendly and strong woman! What made her behave like this?
Then he took hold of Gu Chaoyan and said confidently as he faced Mrs. Duke North, “Chaoyan would have left the court today, but she is here with me because I want to see Young Duke. I am going to accompany her out, so she is not worried about your son.”
