Chapter 2282 - Final Attack
CLANNNG CLANNNG CLANNNG
The gigantic sword clashed against my s.h.i.+eld non-stop; it is like my sphere of s.h.i.+elds is some kind of nut it needs to crack.
I am releasing the internal energy without holding back to deal with this attack; it is the only thing I can currently do. Holding back even a little could cost me my life, and I don't bet on my life when there are other ways.
I could feel the frustration it had kept deeply hidden in its eyes, but as seconds pa.s.sed by and turned into minutes, it became visible.
The Grimms are extremely intelligent, but they are too confident in their own ability that they end up underestimating the enemy despite understanding it should not be underestimated.
It has happened and proved so many times that it is a racial flaw of Grimms and not just a stereotype that we humans have created to make us feel good about ourselves.
It is due to this flaw of them we humans end up winning or at least surviving the battles that should have killed us.
Take this battle, for example; this Lightning Cheetaman is aware of my abilities, and the most feasible way to deal with me is to attack me with all its power and kill me as soon as possible.
The way it is fighting, it seemed like it is doing just that, but it is not; even right now, it is not using its full power as it should. Instead, it is giving me a chance to get familiar with its fighting ability and collect the data on it, which will help me tremendously in the battle.
It is intelligent enough to understand that as well, but that flaw of it or rather a pride would stop it from doing that; to it, humans are not worthy for it to use its full power from the beginning.
Another minute and a half pa.s.sed when suddenly it had stopped and looked at me intensely without saving anything.
It looked fine, but it is not; it is as tired as I am. The respiration is vaporizing with lightning, the torrent of energy that is going toward the artifact behind it, and the signs of energy straining it trying to hide.
Superimposing my gaze with Ashlyn's, all these became quite clear to me, and it also became clear that the most dangerous moment of the battle had come.
It is not just staring at but preparing an extremely powerful attack; the spatial artifact behind it makes it very difficult for one to sense it; I was only able to sense it after piercing spatial vail with Ashlyn's gaze.
I begin to prepare myself as I pretty much have an idea of what type of attack came in my direction; it is likely the final attack that it had used on the Grandmaster Veronica before it had tucked its tail and ran away.
I am not Grandmaster Veronica, who used offensive ability to deal with an attack; I do not have such power; I will have to focus my everything on the defense, and I should not be holding back anything this time if I want to survive.
"Human run if you can, this final attack of mine will kill you without a doubt," The Cheetaman said, and there was no grin or roar, just a warning which it wholeheartedly believes.
"I know about your attack, and running is useless in front of it," I replied with a smile. It did not seem surprised hearing that. As I had said, intelligent.
The attack is very powerful and undodgeable unless one has a greater speed than it, and even lightning Cheetaman is not that fast if the information about the attack is to be believed.
Suddenly its aura exploded, but no lightning appeared out its body still; the aura shook me, and I began to fight against my mind, which was screaming from all the corners for me to run away.
"Roar of Domre!"
It said, and the phantom of Grimm Monster appeared behind it. It is different from the phantom that those with bloodline produced; this phantom is an exact copy of it, just four-time bigger.
RUMBLLLE!
The phantom opened its mouth, and a rumbling sound rang out, and with it, a huge thick bolt of lightning shot toward me.
The power inside the lightning bolt is earthshaking. If it missed me and hit the ground, it would vaporize the whole army, sparing neither humans nor Grimm Monsters; even Masters would be hardpressed to defend against the stray energy this attack would release.
As the attack released, my s.h.i.+eld lit violet-red in color as my burning essence merged with Internal energy and Inheritance energy, creating very powerful energy.
Just two days ago, I was able to perfect this formula, it had taken quite a lot of time, but it was all worth it, given its power.
Without such a card in hand, I would not have been confident in surviving against the most powerful attack of Mid-Grandmaster, even with the recent advancements I had.
BOOOOOOOM!
The rumbling lightning bolt crashed against my s.h.i.+elds and exploded with so much power that it would vaporize a weaker Grandmaster.
Pup Puh Puh
I began to vomit one mouthful of blood after another as my skin split and bones cracked while I took a step back.
The attack was beyond powerful; I have never faced something like it, and instantly it created a burning desire to get stronger.
The attack had gravely injured me in an instant, and it is not over; the explosion of energies are attacking from all the corners, trying to find a crack in my defense, so they could come in and destroy me.
These energies did not find any gap, but they are still coming inside me rapidly. My s.h.i.+elds have lighted up like blazing runs and now ravenously sucking up the energy breaking it before sending it inside me.
The flood of energy began to come inside me, nearly ripping my veins apart as my runes swallowed it all without any problem. The amount of energy did affect my rune's speed; they swallowed this flood as they would swallow a trickle.
Hun!
I was watching it when I felt a change in me, only to see my swallowing rule advancing.. Seeing that smile couldn't help but appear on my bloodied face.
