Chapter 438: White Bones Altar

"Lost? So what do I do?" w.a.n.g Yu questioned.
w.a.n.g Yu was not worried that the quest couldn't be completed. After all, this was a system generated quest. Since the Dusk Roulette was lost, the a.s.sa.s.sin must have some other method.
a.s.sa.s.sin Lyon looked meaningfully at w.a.n.g Yu again, "Young man, don't expect others to do things for you for free. Don't forget that I am the one who brought out this Heart of Darkness."
"What…" w.a.n.g Yu was instantly dumbfounded the moment he heard what a.s.sa.s.sin Lyon said.
a.s.sa.s.sin Lyon was never a person with high morals and sense of justice from the start. Moreover, he even tried to absorb the energy of the Heart of Darkness for the gain of his own personal power. How could w.a.n.g Yu completely trust his words?
Noticing w.a.n.g Yu's expression, a.s.sa.s.sin Lyon added, "When I was younger, I was obsessed with power. As time pa.s.ses, I've matured and I am much older now which is why I do not wish to live my life on the edge anymore. Do you understand me?"
w.a.n.g Yu nodded, "As long as you tell me the way to seal the Heart of Darkness, you should be able to make up for your mistakes."
a.s.sa.s.sin Lyon laughed faintly, "Of course! But how am I going to live out the rest of my life? Didn't you see? I cannot even hold a dagger properly now."
As he spoke, he looked at the Dagger of Seal left on the ground by Lone Vagrant Guest.
w.a.n.g Yu frowned as a.s.sa.s.sin Lyon was clearly asking for money. What did he mean by not being able to hold a dagger properly? Earlier, he was evidently very nimble when he was attacking One Page Book.
"How much?" w.a.n.g Yu asked with caution.
"500." a.s.sa.s.sin Lyon raised his palm to indicate five.
"F*ck!" w.a.n.g Yu threw out a bag of money. In his heart, he was cursing the system for being bloodsucking ghosts. He had only just earned 500 gold from Lone Vagrant Guest and was immediately robbed of it.
One Page Book and Lone Vagrant Guest stared blankly at w.a.n.g Yu, "Are you really completing your quest this way?"
"Ah? Don't you know that all these NPCs are extremely shameless?" w.a.n.g Yu was also slightly surprised at their reactions. These two fellas were of rather high levels especially One Page Book, who was already more than level 30. Didn't they know that the system NPC could be bribed with money?
Lone Vagrant Guest asked, "I thought they aren't willing to give quests because they didn't like you enough?"
"Indeed! By giving them money, they will instantly like you enough…" w.a.n.g Yu replied honestly.
"F*ck!" Lone Vagrant Guest looked stupefied. These NPCs were way too realistic and to think that he had to work so hard to gain favourable impressions of his previous quest NPCs. Who knew that there was such a simple way?
a.s.sa.s.sin Lyon smiled after keeping the bag of money. He pointed to the Dagger of Seal on the ground, "There is a Land of Burying Bone below the Dusk Peak. There is a White Bones Altar where all you need to do is to put the Heart of Darkness in the centre of offering platform before inserting the Dagger of Seal. That is all you have to do."
"That simple?" w.a.n.g Yu was doubtful at how simple and straightforward this S grade quest was.
Also, this quest was called Altar At The Peak so why was the altar located at the bottom of the mountain?
a.s.sa.s.sin Lyon replied, "The difficulty of this quest is altered only because I am here."
"Oh…" w.a.n.g Yu was skeptical as he went ahead to pick up the Dagger of Seal.
At this point, a.s.sa.s.sin Lyon suddenly pointed at Lone Vagrant Guest. "The Dagger of Deal has to be inserted personally by him."
After a.s.sa.s.sin Lyon said this, Lone Vagrant Guest received the same quest as w.a.n.g Yu.
"Me?" Lone Vagrant Guest looked at the ridiculous penalty for failing this quest and he reacted, "What has this got to do with me?"
"The fact that you're the one who pulled out the dagger?"
"What about me?" One Page Book didn't look very pleased. It seemed like she had received the same quest too.
"You're the one who opened up the altar!"
"Altar?" w.a.n.g Yu and Lone Vagrant Guest stared at One Page Book suspiciously.
"Hmph!" One Page Book grunted, "When I reached there first, there was an altar and it was opened by me. Before I could pull out the dagger, the two of you arrived."
"No wonder there were only two mountain goblins at the peak when we arrived. And we didn't even get to see the altar of the quest too… So its because you've reached earlier than us…"
When w.a.n.g Yu first ascended the mountain, he was confused as to why there were only two monsters in such a huge s.p.a.ce. Now it made sense that it was because One Page Book reached earlier than them and those two mountain goblins should be the newly sp.a.w.ned monsters.
The system really made sure that every injustice has its perpetrator and every debt its debtor. They certainly made sure that a person would be responsible for his/her own actions.
a.s.sa.s.sin Lyon reminded, "Alright, the few of you should head off quickly. The energy from the Heart of Darkness is still permeating through the air. The more you delay, the more troublesome it will be."
"Oh oh oh, we got it!" w.a.n.g Yu and the two others responded as they hurried towards the Dusk Peak.
Presently, Lone Vagrant Guest was still pretty excited. He didn't expect the last round of quest to be this simple. While the penalties for failing might seems scary but with such a simple quest, how is failing this quest even possible? The rewards for completing an S grade quest must be really attractive. At the very least, it should worth more than the rewards of the hidden job quest just now.
One Page Book's eyes were not able to conceal her excitement. She was an ordinary player and was naturally unable to reject the temptations of an S grade quest rewards. Even though the final round of the quest was simply, w.a.n.g Yu was still the one holding the Heart of Darkness. This quest couldn't be completed without w.a.n.g Yu which was why she decided to toss aside her hatred for w.a.n.g Yu.
The only person who didn't look excited was w.a.n.g Yu. He kept thinking about the words of the a.s.sa.s.sin and his expression was getting more serious by the minute.
Land of Bone Burying was a map which w.a.n.g Yu found out about when he jumped off the cliff at the Dusk Mountain Range.
Dusk Mountain Range and Dusk Wilderness were the diagonals of Dusk City and were extremely far apart from each other. Even at a decent speed, w.a.n.g Yu and the other two took about 30 minutes to get there.
As he returned to the Land of Bone Burying, w.a.n.g Yu felt that the atmosphere here was even more peculiar than before.
The bones on the floor constantly felt as though they could come back to life anytime.
The Land of Bone Burying's map was fixed according to the cliff. It was long and narrow as the trio walked through it. These bones didn't move at all and this made w.a.n.g Yu even more suspicious.
Logically speaking, this wasn't the first time w.a.n.g Yu was completing an S grade quest. w.a.n.g Yu was certain that the system wouldn't make an S grade quest that simple. After all, w.a.n.g Yu was already encircled with countless monsters in the very first round. How could it be possible that there weren't any monsters here?
"There is the altar! Hurry up and go put the Heart of Darkness there."
w.a.n.g Yu was deep in thoughts when he suddenly heard One Page Book's voice. As he looked over at the direction of the voice, w.a.n.g Yu saw the altar spotted by One Page Book.
The altar wasn't considered big as the size was about 2 metres square. It was an oval altar formed by piling up bones. On the altar, there was a bowl size platform supported up by bones. This should be the offering platform mentioned earlier.
"No hurry!" w.a.n.g Yu looked over at the altar and shook his hand, "Don't you think that there is something weird about this altar?"
No matter how w.a.n.g Yu looked at this altar, it felt weird. How could it be possible for something as evil as the Heart of Darkness to be sealed just by placing it on an altar like this? This must be a trap.
