Chapter 432: Dusk Mountain Goblin

"Let's go!" After killing those monsters, w.a.n.g Yu waved at Lone Vagrant Guest, who was still hiding behind the tree.
Lone Vagrant Guest walked over excitedly as he asked, "Brother Bull, which combat squad are you from?"
"Combat squad? I am not in any." w.a.n.g Yu replied faintly.
"No combat squad?" Lone Vagrant Guest stared blankly for a moment before asking again, "So you're also a rogue?"
Rogues in the game referred to those who travelled alone without any fixed squad. These were fellas who did most things by themselves. In fact, they even joined random squads to complete dungeons.
Rogue gamers were usually categorised in two extremes. They could either be extremely weak or extremely strong like a G.o.d.
Because rogues were always alone and <> was a game which emphasised heavily on group coordination. Without a fixed team to work with, rogues could never complete high-level dungeons or hidden quests. Therefore, 99% of rogues were usually rookies. The more rookie they were, the lesser friends they had. The lesser friends they had, the more rookie they would become…
Of course, there was another exception and that was the rich people.
For most rogues, they spent a majority of their time grinding wild monsters to level up. Therefore, there was a high possibility of them meeting countryside NPCs for the countryside quests. Normally, people would rethink their own capabilities when they received a hidden quest before considering if they should accept it. However, rich people wouldn't have such consideration. As long as they had money, they could hire a lot of people to help them complete their quests. Eventually, they would still be the one to enjoy the rewards of the quest by themselves.
As time pa.s.sed, these rogues would become even stronger than before. As they continued to grow, they would become people who even professional gamers wouldn't dare to offend…
Lone Vagrant Guest was the last type of rogue gamer. Hearing that w.a.n.g Yu didn't have a squad too, he naturally treated w.a.n.g Yu as the same type of gamer as he was.
"Rogue? I guess you can call me that…" w.a.n.g Yu didn't understand the meaning of a rogue. However, it wasn't hard to understand the meaning from the word itself. He guessed that it was basically those who practice and train by themselves.
"Oh, no wonder… I've truly made an error in judgement." Lone Vagrant Guest muttered to himself.
w.a.n.g Yu scratched the back of his head as he replied, "Let's go… Otherwise, another wave of monsters might come back."
After crossing the suspension bridge, the system notified the two of them that they had found the back of the mountain.
The back of the Dusk Peak and the front of it were two completely different worlds. There was only a small and narrow road at the back of the mountain. Other than a few stones lying around, there weren't even any monsters around.
Following the road, the two of them walked for over 15 minutes and finally reached the end of the road.
The end of the road was a cliff. It looked extremely smooth and was precipitous. It looked slightly over 100 metres tall and vines were hanging out of the cliff. In fact, one of the thickest vines actually touched the bottom.
"This should be the road at the back of the mountain. It seems like we have to climb up this cliff." Lone Vagrant Guest mumbled to himself before asking w.a.n.g Yu, "Brother Bull, have you learnt the vine climbing skill yet?"
[Vine Climbing] was a talent skill of Thief. However, players of other jobs could still learn this skill from the rare skill book.
w.a.n.g Yu shook his head, "No, I haven't."
Lone Vagrant Guest retrieved a skill book and threw it to w.a.n.g Yu, "Take this! Fortunately for you, I've bought one extra book."
"What?" An astonished w.a.n.g Yu looked at Lone Vagrant Guest. [Vine Climbing] was an extremely practical skill and it didn't cost cheap. To be specific, one book would cost around 50 gold. Not only was he getting paid to complete this quest, w.a.n.g Yu was even given a free skill book. Just how generous was this guy?
Since Lone Vagrant Guest was the one who wanted to give it to him, w.a.n.g Yu naturally wouldn't stand on any ceremony. After accepting the skill book, w.a.n.g Yu casually kept it in his bag.
"If you don't learn this skill now, you will not be able to climb this cliff." Seeing how w.a.n.g Yu didn't learn the skill, Lone Vagrant Guest reminded him.
w.a.n.g Yu smiled, "Don't bother about me. Head up yourself first because I have my own method."
"Really? Don't you cheat me…" Lone Vagrant Guest looked doubtfully at w.a.n.g Yu before he started climbing the vine like a bug.
Looking at Lone Vagrant Guest's silly looking moves, w.a.n.g Yu sighed, "Fortunately, there was the system's skill to help a player with this. Otherwise, climbing this vine would really use too much effort."
Even though Lone Vagrant Guest's movements looked silly, his speed was pretty decent. After a short while, Lone Vagrant Guest had already climbed close to twenty metres. He looked down and saw that w.a.n.g Yu had yet to follow.
However, he was shocked to see what happened next.
w.a.n.g Yu held onto a sword on his left hand and stuck it into the cliff. Afterwards, he stepped on the sword to jump upwards and stuck another sword from his right hand into the cliff to stand on it. Following which, a white coloured energy pulled the sword below up to his hand. Repeating these few steps, w.a.n.g Yu was merely two metres away from Lone Vagrant Guest.
Even though w.a.n.g Yu's method was a lot riskier, the appearance and speed of it were so much more impressive than Lone Vagrant Guest's ugly way of ascending the cliff.
"..." Lone Vagrant Guest was left speechless once again. He never expected that one could play this game in this way too.
"Brother Bull, please be careful. There are monsters at the top of the mountain."
Looking at how w.a.n.g Yu flew past his own head, Lone Vagrant Guest shouted from behind.
w.a.n.g Yu replied as he continued to ascend, "I got it. I will clear the path for you first."
This hundred metres cliff was nothing to w.a.n.g Yu. Very soon, w.a.n.g Yu reached the periphery of the top.
Just as w.a.n.g Yu revealed his head, a ma.s.sive and sharp hammer flew towards him.
w.a.n.g Yu was shocked as he activated his [Afterimage Explosion] and his body flipped towards the top of the mountain. All he saw was two ma.s.sive heavy men with tails swinging their hammers at w.a.n.g Yu's afterimage.
Dusk Mountain Goblin (LV 50) (Elite)
HP: 100000
MP: 10000
Skill: Dusk Thump, Dusk Shrewd Whistle.
Talent: Wreck.
w.a.n.g Yu wiped the sweat off his forehead. F*ck! The designers of this game really couldn't get any more despicable than this. By planting two of such monsters here at this location, they were really out to kill any gamers who managed to reach here.
Fortunately, w.a.n.g Yu was the first one to climb up. If Lone Vagrant Guest reached the top first, even the nimble and agile body of a Thief like himself would have been crushed by this ma.s.sive hammer.
"Bang!!"
w.a.n.g Yu's afterimage was wrecked by one of the mountain goblin's hammer. The other goblin's hammer landed on the thick vine and that thick vine was instantly destroyed into nothingness.
From the bottom of the cliff, Lone Vagrant Guest's voice could be heard. "F*ck! I really got frightened there. The vine is 70% destroyed… Brother Bull, please don't let the monsters continue attacking the vine."
w.a.n.g Yu only just understood something. The goblins' talent was [Wreck] and it should be referring to their ability to destroy the landform here.
The landforms in this game had always been invincible. Even the greatest skill of Magicians which could wreak havoc to any enemy wouldn't be able to destroy the landform. These two mountain goblins were actually able to destroy the landform and terrain here. This was truly an overbearing skill.
At this moment, the two mountain goblins only just realised that their previous target was merely an afterimage. One of the mountain goblins wailed loudly as it swung its hammer towards the real w.a.n.g Yu.
The mountain goblin's movements were extremely slow and before the hammer could land, w.a.n.g Yu casually moved back to avoid the hit. After escaping out of the range of the hammer, the mountain goblin suddenly let out an ear-piercing cry. w.a.n.g Yu instantly felt a severe headache and in the next moment, he appeared below the hammer of the mountain goblin.
