"Not bad," said Evie. "Though these weapons are mostly for Leonel, Ragnar, and Isolde."
"Have you found something for you?" Ren asked.
Evie shook her head. "No. This Harmonica is just an ordinary Harmonica. It doesn't do much."
Ren and Evie's chatter was disrupted when a group of players came rushing inside.
And it seemed like fate wanted them to meet, for it was Michael's group who had rushed into the Armory.
Outside, the storm was raging. Thunder rolled above the castle, and the rain fell in blinding sheets. From time to time, bolts of blue-white lightning lit the world as bright as day.
Emerald and Lyka were stuffed into Michael's protection. From a group of ten, they were reduced to only four.
Emerald was too beautiful to be shoved around in this abominable place. She already forgot the number of times she lost her poise and bearing, screaming her heart out as she tripped in the mud here and there.
If it weren't for Michael, she would never take part in this Halloween Event. She usually didn't fear scary stuff, but experiencing it firsthand was an entirely different thing from watching it on screens.
She pleaded and whined multiple times, but she couldn't get Michael to change his mind. It was like he was immune to everyone's voices.
Ever since he saw Evie, it was like he no longer cared about anything but look for that girl.
This got Emerald stomping her feet. However, it wasn't like she had a choice in this matter. All she could do was stick to him.
For one, she was scared. For two, she was madly in love with him.
On the other hand, Michael didn't have anything in his mind but to search for Evie and clarify her relationship with Ren. He refused to believe that she was really going out with the man.
He refused to believe it!
With his mind in a mess, Michael slashed his way through the maze tunnel. Their numbers constantly dwindled in the forest until they, fortunately, stumbled upon a cave that led to this tunnel.
Inside, there were significantly fewer monsters, making their journey easier compared to when they were in the forest.
Eventually, their group met a dead end, but the wall staring at their faces had a thick wooden door with a brass lever. It wasn't locked, and everyone couldn't tell whether it was a good thing or not.
Michael was still thinking about Evie. He liked her too much to give up. No matter what, he would search for her and wouldn't stop courting her.
So what if she was in a relationship? Even married couples split up.
Turning the knob, they went inside and found that they were in some kind of an Armory. It was a hall with a high ceiling, which made them wonder how it fits under the mansion.
Their attention was stolen by the two giant statues at the center and the two monsters standing in the opposite direction.
The tall monster was a lean man with dark skin and spiky hair who looked like he was electrocuted until his skin was burnt into charcoal. Like the aesthetic of every monster here, his skin was all decorated with stitches and staples.
Beside him was a short monster girl that had a rabbit's head, wearing an Alice in Wonderland costume.
"M-monsters!"
"Don't fret and attack it! We need those points!" Michael shouted and stormed to where the monsters were with his sword in hand.
Emerald and Lyka supported Michael from the back and conjured spells to rain down on those monsters.
When Michael was just a breath away from the two monsters, the man quickly protected the woman beside him.
Michael even heard the monsters speak. Their voices seemed . . . familiar.
"You really showed your face in front of me? Good." The man laughed.
"He doesn't recognize us," the woman monster asked at the side.
Michael didn't have time to figure out why those voices sounded familiar. In the middle of his attack, he paused uncontrollably.
Flicking his eyes down to his chest, he saw a scepter stopping him at arm's length from slicing the monsters in two.
Michael was more stunned that the monster managed to stop his momentum by just putting a scepter against his chest. However, it didn't matter as he was confident that he could kill the monster at this distance.
"Die!" The sword in Michael's hand glowed, but before he could unleash whatever skill he had, he was blasted away by a powerful fire that engulfed him whole.
It was hot, but it didn't scald the skin. However, Michael's eyes widened in terror. His Hit Points had melted to zero in an instant.
"As much as I want to torture you, I don't want to waste precious time." The monster man chuckled.
Michael clenched his teeth. His blood was boiling at the monster's voice for some reason. But his inevitable death prevented him from shouting a curse as the last words he uttered was her name.
"Evie . . ." For some reason, Michael's gaze flickered to the monster girl behind the man.
The rabbit looked him straight in the eyes, and Michael shivered with dread. The monster girl's stare was piercing that it shot through his bones.
What did he ever do to this monster? It should be him murdering her with his glares.
Until Michael was nothing more than crying particles, he only thought of Evie.
"Michael!" Emerald and Lyka shouted.
"Don't worry, Michael, I'll avenge you!" Emerald yelled.
But before she could unleash her spells, a cylindrical object flew in their direction. It was like a candle but was longer and had a fuse that sizzled as it burned.
Emerald and the others didn't have the chance to check what it was as they were blasted away by a loud BoOoOmM that almost crushed their eardrums with its earth-shaking noise.
