The implications Ye Ling Yue gained in this confrontation had not been small. The patriarch in anger had chased the w.a.n.g Gui father and son pair out of the Ye family. As for the Ye Huang Cheng father and son pair, under the crime of poor discipline, had been punished with 20 zhang. Ye Qing had been grounded for a month to think things over and the matter about his broken hand had been put to rest. However, this punishment, in the eyes of the Ye Huang Yu mother and daughter pair seemed to be that the thunder sounded loud yet the rain was small. The punishment was far from enough.
Ye Huang Yu’s face darkened and was about to bring Ye Ling Yue to leave with her.
“Stop.” Ye Gu said in a heavy voice to Ye Huang Yu. Ye Gu walked in front of the mother and daughter pair. His face was still stretched very tight while his eyes shone with hesitation. Ye Ling Yue pulled on her mother’s hand. She could tell that her grandfather was the typical person with a sharp knife-like mouth but had a soft tofu-like heart.
“Ye Ling Yue is already 13 years old. Starting from tomorrow, she will start learning martial arts in our family’s Martial Arts Hall.” Ye Gu swept his eyes across Ye Ling Yue.
The Ye Qing father and son pair froze. Ye Gu had said this sentence for everyone to hear. Since he allowed her to learn in the Martial Arts Hall, then it meant that he was finally willing to recognize Ye Ling Yue’s ident.i.ty and that from now on she would formally be a part of the Ye family.
After the whole event in the main hall, all of the Ye family members now knew that Ye Ling Yue was no longer a r.e.t.a.r.ded girl. The monthly pension for the northern manor had also returned to normal. The lives of the Ye Ling Yue mother and daughter pair and Liu-ma had ameliorated. However, it takes more than one cold day for the river to freeze three feet deep; Ye Huang Yu and the patriarch’s father and daughter relations.h.i.+p had not improved much.
( it takes more than one cold day for the river to freeze three feet deep (or 冰凍三尺非一日之寒) – long-term factors or elements cannot be suddenly formed)
In the morning of the next day, Ye Ling Yue and her biaojie Ye Yin Shuang appeared outside of the northern manor.
(biaojie – elder female cousin)
“Ling Yue meimei, grandpa let me take you to the Martial Arts Hall.” Ye Yin Shuang was Ye Ling Yue’s second uncle’s daughter. She was older than Ye Ling Yue by one year. She had blackish red skin and her face and eyes were both round. She had the look of someone with a good temperament.
(meimei – younger sister; this can be used literally or just by anyone to a younger female)
Yin Shuang brought Ling Yue out of the Ye family residence.
Ye Yin Shuang was very inquisitive toward Ye Ling Yue. She had heard from the adults that her third aunt’s daughter was a r.e.t.a.r.ded girl that had suddenly become clever a couple days ago. When she met her today, she found that Ye Ling Yue was extremely pretty and was very cordial toward others. She had immediately liked her.
Due to the two having similar ages, they chatted quite agreeably.
The Ye family’s Martial Arts Hall was in the northern side of the Qiu Feng District. It was comprised of a large school and several houses.
The Ye family had roughly 20 generations and 500 years of history in the Qiu Feng District. The total amount of people in both the main family and the branch family added up to thousands of people. In the Qiu Feng District, it could be counted as one of leading powers.
Just as she entered the Martial Arts Hall, she saw roughly 80 children and adolescents standing in the empty s.p.a.ce. They were split into their respective four rows according to their age: 6 years old to 8 years old, 9 years old to 12 years old, 12 years old to 15 years old, and 15 years and higher.
They all wore short coats and long pants made of coa.r.s.e fabrics. Their faces were all covered with sweat.
Due to it being the first time Ye Ling Yue came to the Martial Arts Hall and that she didn’t know anyone, when she and Ye Yin Shuang entered, they had attracted a lot of attention from the children of the branch family.
“Yin Shuang jie, who is this pretty jiejie?” Ye Yin Shuang was of the same family as them, and so, when they saw that the female she had brought was very beautiful, the children all surrounded them.
(jie/jiejie – older sister; can be used literally or by anyone to an older female)
“She is our family’s meimei, Ye Ling Yue.” Ye Yin Shuang introduced.
However, when they heard that she was Ye Ling Yue, the surrounding people all s.h.i.+ed away from her as though they had seen some dirty object.
“What’s wrong?” Ye Ling Yue asked.
“It’s all that brat, Ye Qing. A couple days ago, because he had been grounded, he said that when he returned he would deal with you. However, you don’t need to be afraid. Our Martial Arts Hall doesn’t permit private fights. On the road back, I will protect you.” Ye Yin Shuang held up a fist. She was still at any rate a third-rank const.i.tution cultivator and didn’t not fear Ye Qing.
“Ye Qing is very strong?” Ye Ling Yue knew that she had offended the Ye Qing father and son pair and that they wouldn’t willingly the matter rest.
“He doesn’t have any capability. He’s only hiding behind a greater power. The truly powerful person is Ye Qing’s jiejie, Ye Liu Yun.” Ye Yin Shuang still wanted to say something, however, she was interrupted by the arrival of the teacher.
The two stopped talking and began to practice martial arts.
With Ye Huang Yu’s previous teachings, the training in the Martial Arts Hall -to Ye Ling Yue – was nothing. She only used the morning to completely catch up with the Martial Arts Hall’s training.
When the cla.s.ses on the Martial Arts Hall finished, Ye Ling Yue found an excuse to go separate ways from Ye Yin Shuang and went to the market in the district. Qiu Feng District’s market is located in the district’s most busy street. The market offered a wide variety of items from medicinal plants and weapons to items for daily uses. There wasn’t a single item they didn’t have.
Although the northern manor had recovered its monthly pension and that their lives were much better, however the money was only enough for daily usage. Ye Ling Yue’s pocket money was only a measly sum of 20 coins.
This was perhaps enough for the r.e.t.a.r.ded girl Ye Ling Yue, however, for the Ye Ling Yue that needed to break through to the third-rank of the const.i.tution domain, it was far from enough.
Ye Ling Yue was currently at the second-rank of the const.i.tution domain. If she wanted to quickly break through, other than a.s.siduous training, she also needed medicinal help. However, she currently only had Vital Condensation Gra.s.s, and so she wanted to go to the district to see if they had suitable gra.s.ses. Moreover, Ye Ling Yue also had another wish – to help her mother find a spiritual medicine that can heal chronic injuries. She would definitely help her mother regain her former t.i.tle as a prodigy.
And so, she needed money – large amounts of money!
