Chapter 656: Classified Documents
Fang Chen walked out of the conference room. Lin Shuwen walked over immediately to see that Fang Chen’s face was expressionless. He could not resist asking softly. “Mr. Fang?”
Fang Chen glanced at him and shook his head gently.
A few other people stepped out of the conference room. They were smiling somewhat victoriously. Deputy Mayor Yang took the lead and appeared like he wanted to stop Fang Chen.
“You have to be careful about your public image, especially since the city hall project might get dragged down. Although we have deleted the post, you are about to get transferred to the capital, so I am sure our superiors will have something to say about this.”
Despite Deputy Mayor Yang’s thoughtful and considerate words, it was clear that he was gloating at Fang Chen’s predicament.
Fang Chen only looked at him coldly.
The more Deputy Mayor Yang noticed Fang Chen’s chilly behaviour, the happier he felt inside. Fang Chen was just a kid. If the ex-mayor did not groom and promote him, Deputy Mayor Yang would have taken over as the city mayor.
A disciplinary committee section chief walked over with a document folder under his arm and nodded to Fang Chen as he spoke in a businesslike tone. “Mr. Fang, we received a letter of complaint last night. I hope you can assist with the investigation.”
“A complaint?” Deputy Mayor Yang acted like he was completely at a loss when he looked at the section chief. “Why would anyone lodge a complaint against Fang Chen? Everyone knows how upright and just Fang Chen is.”
The disciplinary department section chief slumped his shoulders powerlessly. “I trust Fang Chen as well. However, I have to follow protocol.”
Lin Shuwen clenched his fists tightly as they went on talking about Fang Chen. If Fang Chen did not hint at him to stay cool, he would have fought back in Fang Chen’s defense immediately.
They were deliberately bringing it up in front of so many other public officials to make Fang Chen look bad.
Fang Chen glanced at the disciplinary department section chief and replied calmly. “Sure thing. I will cooperate fully.”
The moment he finished his sentence, Fang Chen walked towards his office.
The section chief tightened his grip on the folder as he glanced at Deputy Mayor Yang before following behind Fang Chen.
After entering the office, Fang Chen handed his phone to Lin Shuwen. “Fang Ting called me a few times. Help me call her back. Also, I received an email through my work account. Download it on my computer and find out who sent it.”
Lin Shuwen took the phone politely. “Miss Fang called me as well and I told her you were in a meeting.”
“Uh huh. Okay then.”
Fang Chen waved his hand. He sat down on the couch as he invited the disciplinary department section chief to have a seat so that they could talk.
Lin Shuwen glanced at the two of them. Despite knowing that the disciplinary department was out to get Fang Chen, he went to the side and poured two cups of tea for them.
Lin Shuwen walked up to Fang Chen’s desk and turned on the computer. He tapped on the mailbox to see an unread message inside.
It had been sent ten minutes ago with the subject: [Information.]
The sender was unknown and was simply input as: [***]
Lin Shuwen felt puzzled. It was the first time that he had noticed something so strange in an email.
He hesitated for two seconds before he right-clicked the email with the mouse and downloaded it.
Fang Chen’s office computer came installed with security. If any of his emails contained a threat, they would get blocked, so Lin Shuwen was unconcerned about any viruses in the message.
Moreover, most of the documents sent to this email address were classified.
