Xue Jinxu was sitting on Chen Linyun's lap, and they were kissing pa.s.sionately.
---
The door casually flung open. Xue Guangxi gasped. 'Huh!' Then he covered his mouth with both his hands and turned around. He was so red in the face. He was so embarra.s.sed with what he had witnessed!
Xue Guangxi was torn. He did not know whether to just walk away or enter. He was there because he forgot something in his room.
"Guangxi." He was caught. 'Oh no! Should I run? Should I turn around?'
In the end he turned around and faced them. He was flushed red and he was looking elsewhere, except straight towards them.
It was Chen Linyun who called him. The lady was quite speechless herself. Just like her brother, she was also staring elsewhere and quite red on the face too.
Both of them were standing now. The moment they heard the gasp, they sprung up on their feet. The lady was standing behind her man, as if to seek refuge.
"Hi Teacher Chen. You're back! Welcome back!" He recited like a robot.
"She really h.o.a.rded you for herself." He added without even thinking.
Xue Jinxu coughed. *Cough* *Cough* *Cough*
Chen Linyun rubbed her back to relax her. Xue Guangxi flinched seeing their physical contact. He withdrew his gaze.
"Why are you here? You're not supposed to be here!" Xue Jinxu had now recovered from her earlier stupor. There was apparent hostility in her tone.
"I-I forgot something. I'll get it. It'll be fast then I'll leave!" Xue Guangxi threw his arms in the air as surrender. Then he sped off towards his room in the speed of light.
He took his backpack with him. It had all his notes and books. Probably he's going to study over the weekends.
However upon pa.s.sing the table, his mouth involuntarily watered. He stopped. He grabbed a set of chopsticks then dug in several times.
"Teacher Chen, there's something off with your cooking. It needed a little seasoning."
"No, it's good." Chen Linyun answered back.
"Really?" Xue Jinxu appeared from behind Chen Linyun. "Are you telling the truth Guangxi?" She wanted validation for the claim. Her brows were furrowed, she was worried.
Guangxi sensed something was off. He was smart so he could tell that most likely it was his sister's cooking and not his teacher's.
"U-uhh.. Got to go. Bye." He ran away. "Enjoy yourselves guys! Lock the door!" He added while running.
Xue Jinxu's worried face had not cleared up yet. She tugged Linyun's sleeve. "Tell me, the food…does it need more seasoning? Is it bland? Is it that bad?"
She was asking as if her life depended on it. She was nearing tears.
"I told you it was good. But, I admit, not the best. It could still be improved." He smiled understandingly, dotingly as always. "I'll eat whatever you cook." He wrapped her in his warm embrace and gently planted a kiss on her forehead.
"No, no! You only deserve the best! I failed!" She covered her face with both hands, and buried it further onto his shoulder.
He cradled her in his arms. In his heart he was ecstatic with this little childish act of his woman.
"You haven't eaten yet. Eat some alright? I'll wash the dishes after." Chen Linyun nagged her.
"Alright. But, I'll wash the dishes. I'll serve you today, Master Chen." She smiled genuinely, her smile that he loved so much. Her dimple on the left cheek peeping.
"That's enough. The chemicals are bad for your hands. The water will also make it wrinkled. I'll wash the dishes. Now, go eat up."
She tightened her embrace first then nodded. She was being obedient, docile.
In the afternoon they were lying together in the couch, watching some shows on the television. The couch could only accommodate one lying person, but they had managed to squeeze both of them in.
Chen Linyun was lying on his back, while Xue Jinxu lied on top of him. Soon after she succ.u.mbed into deep sleep.
Chen Linyun could not be happier. This was exactly the blissful simple life that he had wanted to share with Xue Jinxu. He still could not believe it. Now that he had tasted this life, He swore to the G.o.ds that no one could take this life away from them – not even the Xue Family, no one!
He will surely prove his worth to them! He could only be the one perfect match for her, and no one else!
His woman was doing her best to stand her ground against her betrothal. He knew everything about it. He had this murderous gaze on his eyes thinking about those flies hovering about and around his lady. He clenched his fists. However, the fire in his eyes instantly dissipated upon realization that he's even lower than them. He should really expedite his efforts because for now he still could not do anything for his woman. In a sense he's worse than those flies. Bluntly speaking, he's pathetic.
Seemingly sensing the change in his aura, the sleeping beauty had returned from her slumber. She was lying on her stomach on top of Chen Linyun.
"Mhmm, you didn't sleep?" She glanced up at him. "You should rest more! You will be on the road soon again."
"I'm fine. I'm savoring every moment with you. That's a form of recharge too." He pulled his eyegla.s.ses up his nose bridge, and placed his hand behind to support his head like a pillow. "I'm collecting memories." He smiled at her.
She was rubbing her head on his chest, the way she always did before when she's being cuddly. "How much longer?"
Chen Linyun could feel the sudden sadness in the air. "I'll expedite, my dear. I'm sorry to keep you waiting like this. I still cannot face your family."
"I'm sorry you have to put up with my family too." She flickered her eyelashes.
"It's part of the challenge." He smiled. "Just believe in me."
"Can I go with you? I'll help you." Xue Jinxu suggested. "You don't have to do it alone. I'm with you. Chen Linyun, I'm willing to give up everything I have for you. I'm willing to leave my world to start over a new one with you." She admitted, her doe eyes trying to relay her purest intent.
Chen Linyun was flattered. "You don't have to, milady. Let me do all the work." He kissed her forehead.
