315 A Step At A Time 2

"Argh!!!"

Xue Guangxi irritatedly rubbed her head in vexation. He leaned his head towards the wall as he tapped the bench with the nail on his index finger.

"What's taking her so long?  We're supposed to go together!!!"

Earlier they left the Chen dream house together to fulfill one of the girl's wishes: to meet her father, finally.

However, as his current situation and his disposition would tell, he was left alone in the cold, barren lobby of a j.a.panese restaurant.

A few hours earlier, at around nine in the morning, the two best of friends met Mister Yamazaki, the lanky guy around mid-thirties which Kang Sola met previously, and who had claimed to have connections with her biological father.

Honestly speaking, she could not trust this person fully, but then she felt that she would lose something humungous.  After her first disappointment, her hopes had somewhat transformed into desperation.  That was why she probably agreed to meet the person for the second time, added to the fact that the mighty Second Young Master, Xue Guangxi had agreed to take time off to go with her.  It added another layer of comfort and confidence to the nerve-wracked Kang Sola.

But then, when they met him in a j.a.panese restaurant, he was alone.  What's more rage-inducing for Xue Guangxi was that this mere being had requested him to sign a non-disclosure agreement for that day's meeting.

Kang Sola had notified the mister in pa.s.sing beforehand that she would be bringing a friend with her and even asked for permission if that would be alright.  The man, Mister Yamazaki, obliged, under special condition, and that was with the protection of a non-disclosure agreement.

When Kang Sola asked him about it, since she did not know anything about it, Mister Yamasaki had put it as a simple doc.u.ment that would protect the confidentiality of the parties, and nothing more.  Since she trusted her friend, Guangxi, she thought it wouldn't be much of a deal with them - just a formality.

As for the boy, Xue Guangxi had known about it from Kang Sola and had shrugged it off, too, as nothing too important.

However, that day, when Mister Yamazaki presented the doc.u.ment in front of the Second Youn Master, he felt his blood boil from misplaced pride.

"Seriously? You dare to request me to sign this thing?  Don't you know who I am?"

"I insist, boy."

When this man just called him "boy", he closed his eyes as he tried to consciously temper his seething rage.  He felt a little squeeze from his forearm, and when he opened his eyes, he saw Kang Sola's own window to her soul imploring her utmost wishes for him to shut up and behave.  She was begging intently with her eyes.

'Right.  I am not here for me.  I'm just a plus one today.  She's the one on limelight today.'

In the end, he signed the non-disclosure agreement after having run through it several times.

But, in the end, he was still left alone in the pa.s.sing corridor of the same j.a.panese restaurant while Kang sola and the mysterious mister went ahead towards a function room reserved for the meeting.

Xue Guangxi begrudgingly followed them with his eyes.

However, it was hours ago.  Almost two to three hours had pa.s.sed, and still, no sign of Kang Sola or the mister could be seen anywhere near him.

He was annoyed, alright, but he's getting anxious too.

Alas, not wanting to wait any longer, he stood up and, putting his luck to the heavens above, marched surrept.i.tiously towards where the function rooms were located, moving in such a cat-like manner while praying not to be caught by anyone who he knew or who knew him.

Meanwhile, at the other side of the world, inside a warm cozy house in a small low-key town, the clanking of utensils - pots and kettles and metal ladles and whatnot - was heard in the middle of the night.

A lady in a nightgown - all guards up - pointed a baseball bat clutched with both hands towards a person across him whom she had called a thief.  They were in what seemed to be the kitchen-slash-dining-slash backroom where the utensils were kept and stored.

The man calmly stood his ground, not fuzzed even for a bit with the lady that was holding a baseball bat.

The dimly lit room had only a single yellow light illuminating it and the occupants, and the light was not even located anywhere near where the commotion was.

The unfl.u.s.tered young man, in the response to being called a thief, declared, "I come in peace.  I am here for the lady you are with."

The maid in braids sw.a.n.g the bat in midair as a warning.  "What do you need?  Who comes in peace in the middle of the night?  Who breaks into somebody's home when everyone's supposed to be sleeping already?"

"Don't move!  Or I'll crush your head open with this bat like a watermelon."

The tall man's lips curled upward in fascination.  'So courageous, this girl.  She deserves a monument named and built after her.'

The man's comment was the conclusion of a clear observation that the lady before him, fearful as she was, still had the audacity to face him - a person with twice or thrice her agility and strength even if he came unarmed.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.

He raised his arms in the air.  "Will you hurt someone who comes in peace?"

"Stop right there!  You better leave now!  I'll call the police."

"..."

The man stepped forward.

"Didn't you hear me?  Are you deaf?"

"..."

The man remained silent while he continually surged forward.

The young lady gripping the baseball bat took a step back.  The bat trembled in the air with her shaky hands.

The man, seeing a window of golden opportunity, abruptly seized the other end of the hand strongly with his right hand.

The young woman gasped in horror as she took another step back.

From behind, a rustling of clothes, followed by light footsteps were heard in the background.  A few seconds later, a lady with unparalleled beauty appeared in the poorly lit chamber.

"What's happening here, Chichi --"

Teng Man Rui stopped speaking in mid-sentence upon setting eyes on the commotion, and more particularly on the man, the intruder.

She gasped as her tension rose to a higher alt.i.tude.  Eyes wide, she clasped her gaping mouth with both hands.  She was horrified as if she had just seen a ghost.

"Xiao Rui.  It's been a long time, indeed."
