Kang Sola could sense the sadness in the lady's façade even if Xue Jinxu was smiling at her. Her eyes betrayed her. Her Linyun-ge was still missing, and with that knowledge, she felt a slight pinch in her heart too. She felt sad too, but she - and she bets even Xu-Jie - tried to at least appear cheerful in front of each other. If that would give strength to them both, that would certainly be a better way of acting in front of each other.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.
"En. Yes, Xu-Jie." The girl answered and inquired back. "How's the search?"
Xue Jinxu wrapped one arm around the girl and led her to sit on the couch. She sat beside her, fetched both hands and gave it a slight squeeze. "Not that great. But, I'm not losing hope yet." Xue Jinxu smiled again, her dimple on her left cheek, showing.
"Me too, Xu-Jie. I believe that Linyun-ge is just somewhere and good people are tending to him right now. He will return in good form. Let's believe in that and prayed for it too. I keep on praying for his safety and successful return here. He's a good person. Good people have an extra shroud of protection around them, I believe. Well, it's just a personal belief though."
Xue Jinxu squeezed the girl's hands one more time. A maid came and served them some fruit juice.
"Sola, I don't want to pre-empt anything. But I guess you need to know this. It's your right to know even before it becomes too late."
Xue Jinxu locked her gaze at the girl's expectant ones. "What is it, Xue-Jie? You're making me nervous."
"Chen Linyun is your biological brother. We have your DNA's tested and it matched."
Kang Sola gasped but was defeated by speechlessness. Her eyes flickered with discernment. 'How could it be?'
'My relatives have not even once mentioned that I have a brother.'
"It must be hard to believe, dear, but it's the truth. Remember when we went to the country club and pampered ourselves for one whole day? We've got some of your hair strands and submitted it to the lab. I've submitted your Linyun-ge's samples too. The result of DNA matching is positive. I can show you the doc.u.ments later."
"Are you sure you got the samples correctly?" The girl probed nervously.
"Yours is the only hair strands that have purple highlights on it. It's not that easy to mistake it for another's."
"Does that mean… My father… Aunty Mo…"
"It means they are your family too." Xue Jinxu completed the thought and brought it out in the open explicitly.
"I only let you know because Chen Linyun's missing, and I think you need to be involved because it's your right. I know you are sad, but not knowing your real relations to him… It bothers me. You need to know who he really is to you."
"He tried to approach you and ba a brother to you in his own way before his trip, although for a short time only. He had learned about you just recently too."
Kang Sola bowed her head as she got lost in her own thoughts.
'But then, the guy who I met earlier… Does he work for Linyun-ge's father? Why visit me separately? Why doesn't he talk to Xu-Jie or visit here? I haven't seent the mister here, not even once.'
'Is he a private investigator?'
'Is Linyun-ge's father my father as well?'
'Linyun-ge is my brother? Linyun-ge… He has always been kind to me even from the start.' Unexpectedly, a tear escaped her right eye. Another fell from the left. And another. And another.
Xue Jinxu hugged Kang Sola tightly. "Hush, hush, now, sweetheart." She murmured. She felt the urge to cry as well, but she did her best to hold it in. At this point, she should show some inner strength and will and lead by example to the younger one.
"Linyun-ge is my brother. I'm glad and sad at the same time. I wish I had known sooner. I wish I have spent more time with him, and have made more memories with him."
Xu-Jie stayed in their embrace while stroking the girl's head soothingly. "You will have plenty of opportunities once he returns." She exhaled in a promise.
"When will it be, Jie-Jie?" The girl cried more intensely. Kang Sola could feel her heart getting squashed by an invisible hand. She has a family. He's right around her, and he wants to know her too. But then, it seemed it was too late…
"Soon." Not being able to control anymore, pearl-sized tears dropped from her almond eyes. She sniffed, swallowed the lump in her throat, wiped her cheeks and took a deep breath. And then she pulled from the girl's embrace, smiled and wiped the girl's cheeks with her hands. "It will be soon, dear. As you've said, good people will help him. He will come back in a good state. We should be ready to welcome him anytime."
"En." The girl nodded as she tried to stabilize her feelings and smiled back.
"When he returns I will do my best to be a good little sister."
"Alright, do that. He will like that for sure. He hasn't had any siblings around while growing up, like you. You have lots of catching up to do. Tell him both good and bad memories of your childhood, and your favorites. You can joke about the boys who swarm around you too. Hahahaha!" Xu-Jie laughed heartily despite the lingering sadness.
The girl giggled too at the idea. "Hahaha. That would be too embarra.s.sing, Xu-Jie."
"I bet it would be." Her Xu-Jie agreed, the hint of mirth was still apparent on her pretty face.
Just like that, Xue Jinxu found another soul with similar yearnings – a yearning for the missing Chen Linyun.
'Come back soon, dear.' She prayed in her mind.
