During this two-week interval, Xue Jinxu headed Chen Holdings with flying colors with the help of Jin Yuan, her husband's right hand, now temporarily hers to order around and to provide a.s.sistance to her.
As for Xue s.h.i.+pping, Chen Linyun remained the main focal person, the Officer-In-Charge, and he was able to manage the responsibilities with the help of Butler Lee, and Chairman Xue. Once in a while, although not officially, Xue Guangxi would lend a helping hand to the Marketing team, his favorite and sp.a.w.n. He had always considered it close to his heart. Even away, Chen Linyun still attended executive meetings in Xue s.h.i.+pping through video conferencing. The family had superb teamwork.
Even in Chen Holdings, Mo Wenbin was doing his a.s.signment diligently, and that was to make sure the precious wife of the owner, the Misis Chen, Xue Jinxu was not bullied. Chen Linyun delegated the task of ensuring that the missus would soar high above the clouds in her endeavors and that the projects spearheaded by her would see the light of day, of course, after a well-sought out approval from Chen Linyun, the boss.
Mo Wenbin had to be the wind beneath Xue Jinxu's invisible wings, and at the same time, the only person allowed to act as the police that would audit her actions accordingly. To recall, Chen Linyun had initial inhibitions in allowing the opinionated, domineering alpha female of a wife that he had inside his company. Part of his worries was coming back to a company that had transformed significantly beyond recognition, under the missus' lead. Not that he stopped doting after the missus like he used to; however, Chen Holdings was like his very own offspring which he built from scratch and had molded his character just as he had molded the company according to his preferences and just tactics. Mo Wenbin had a double purpose, double a.s.signment, meaning to say.
During the two weeks that the Chen couple spent apart, the two had resorted into video calling and frequently calling and messaging each other. In a sense, they never missed any noteworthy, life-defining circ.u.mstances in each other lives.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.
Since she would be living temporarily alone in the big Chen dream house, Xue Jinxu extended his invitation to her friend, Teng Man Rui who just recently presented herself unannounced at her doorstep. The latter declined, with the excuse that she would be going back to Hangzhou.
"I had been missing lots of client meetings lately, Jinxu. I have to go back and continue with my own life." Teng Man Rui responded to the benevolent invitation of her friend.
Apparently, it went without saying that Zhu Li Qiang would be going where Teng Man Rui was.
As for her engagement with s.h.i.+ Fan Hai, it was temporarily put on hold since Teng Man Rui had not committed to anything yet. However, as the s.h.i.+ Family would put it, Teng Man Rui was not being loyal to the s.h.i.+ young master how she used to be and was expected to, much to the dismay of her parents. Teng Man Rui's parents valued what other people would say about them and their children too much. Knowing this, the evil s.h.i.+ family added fuel to the fire and initiated rumors about the engagement and Teng Man Rui's alleged 'non-commital' stance to her long-time boyfriend and now fiancé, s.h.i.+ Fan Hai. They were determined to attack the lady's character as a resort into pressuring her and her family to give in to their intent. They were pressed for time as the s.h.i.+ Corporation and their petroleum leg of the business had been considerably falling in its industry and market sales.
One reason for Teng Man Rui to come up with the decision to return to Hangzhou was the building pressure from the public and from her family about answering positively to the impending engagement. It was rather an escape, more than anything else, from the unwanted limelight she had been under lately.
Once in a while, with the urging of Chen Linyun, and sometimes, through his own volition, Xue Guangxi paid his sister a visit to check on her status, safety and well-being and to simply accompany her sometimes. He usually went with Kang Sola, as they 'get along well' so to speak.
While doing their homework together in the garden in the Chen home one leisurely Sat.u.r.day, Xue Guangxi and Kang Sola was discussing about the girl's predicament regarding her living arrangement.
"Xue-jie has an empty apartment. Let me talk to her on your behalf. For sure she will allow you to stay there for free. It doesn't have any occupants in the time being, it's such a waste if it goes unused for too long." Xue Guangxi blabbered on and on while attending absent-mindedly to his homework.
Kang Sola who was seated across her, arms casually crossed and resting on top of the table as she played with her pen, was obviously perturbed by Guangxi's suggestion. However, evident in her eyes was such a glimmer coming from the hope the boy gave from his suggestion. It would be a lie if she would say that she wasn't considering it.
"What are you two, guys, talking about? Hmmm?" Xue Jinxu entered the garden cheerfully, followed by maids who were carrying trays of newly prepared clubhouse sandwiches and some refres.h.i.+ng juices. It was around three in the afternoon, and the weather was nice, neither too windy or humid.
"Kang Sola had been kicked out of her dormito---" Xue Guangxi blabbered thoughtlessly but was not able to finish as Kang Sola plastered her soft hand on his mouth. Her face turned purple, almost the same shade as her purple highlights. Using her other free hand, she attempted to cover her face, but for naught.
Guangxi, being stronger, tore Kang Sola's hand away from his mouth. "Pfttt. Pfftt."
"Hey!!!" Xue Guangxi protested. He held both her hands in place and blurted out hurriedly. "Sola needs a place to stay, Xu-jie. Will you please allow her to stay in your empty apartment? There! Phew!" After finis.h.i.+ng his statement, he freed Kang Sola's hand as he puffed his chest out triumphantly, a grin adorning his boyish visage.
While Xue Guangxi vibrated with sunny confidence, Kang Sola felt small and hot in the cheeks and wanted to squirm under a rock or under the pond where the koi fish swam peacefully. 'How humiliating!'
Although Kang Sola wasn't well-off, without any family or relatives, still, she didn't want other people to look down on her. She had her own pride to keep as a thriving human being.
"Oh, why?" Xue Jinxu rushed at the girl, brows furrowed together in a knot.
"Too many violations of house rules." Xue Guangxi casually retorted as he stuffed a sizable nosh of the clubhouse on his mouth.
"No! Guangxi! That's slander!" Kang Sola stood up and propped the heel of both hands onto the table in front of her rather forcefully.
"HAHAHAHAHA!!!" Xue Guangxi bellowed in laughter, some pieces of the sandwich he was eating escaped his mouth in the process.
"Ewww… Gross, Guangxi!"
"Hey, young lad! Where are your manners?!" Xue Jinxu chided.
"Hahaha. Just kidding." Xue Guangxi swallowed his food, and finally shut his mouth afterwards. He took a sip from his refres.h.i.+ng juice.
"Sola, what really happened, dear? I'm all ears." The missus sat at the empty chair beside Sola on the four-seater garden sala set, and captured her little hands on hers and gave it a soothing squeeze.
"Uhm…" Kang Sola hesitated, but in her mind, she was already thras.h.i.+ng gentle expletives onto Guangxi's way.
"It's like this, Xue-jie…" She trailed off, trying to find the best words to explain her unfortunate situation.
"She lost her scholars.h.i.+p. She cannot stay in the university's dormitory anymore. She's overstaying in the dormitory, they said." Xue Guangxi couldn't take it anymore.
"Guangxi!" The lady and the girl cried out unanimously.
'That's it.' Kang Sola collected her things and threw everything into her bag. "Thanks for today, Xu-jie. I'll get going."
The girl stood up, ready to leave. Xue Guangxi had p.i.s.sed her this time. She thought she had been so much better in controlling her steam.
"You can stay here." Xue Jinxu calmly retorted. Without fuzz, she drank her juice indolently.
Both Xue Guangxi and Kang Sola gawked at the older lady.
"You heard me. I'm all alone here. You can keep me company."
Xue Guangxi and Kang Sola exchanged surprised candid looks. Xue Guangxi stretched his mouth in a happy innocent grin and shrugged his shoulders at the girl. At least, his Xu-jie was willing to help her.
