Chapter 70: Magic

"So you mean you're not a mutant?" Professor Xavier asked Alex in surprise, as he thought the only explanation for Alex's powers was the X gene mutation.

As for the glowing circles? He just thought it was part of the mutation, like another way to manifest his powers.

Alex, who was sitting next to Anna, still holding her hand, smiled a little and replied as he tried to ignore Logan who was cutting a piece of meat more aggressively than necessary while looking at him with bloodthirsty eyes. "No, I'm not a mutant. Actually, this is magic."

"Magic?" Ororo asked in surprise, as she already saw magic rituals when she was in Africa, although the magic she saw wasn't as powerful as Alex's magic.

Nodding, Alex continued. "Yes, it's called Ice Magic, not only is there Ice Magic, there is also Fire Magic, Lightning Magic, among many other different types of magic. Even spells that use zodiac keys to summon spirits to help in battle."

Alex decided to just tell them about Fairy Tail's magic, as he knew they couldn't confirm any of it anyway.

Hearing about Lightning Magic, Ororo's eyes sparkled as she asked in an excited voice. "Do you know Lightning Magic?!"

Seeing Ororo's expectant expression, Alex felt bad before answering. "Unfortunately I haven't learned it yet, as it's too complicated. But I intend to learn one day."

It's not that Alex didn't want to learn it, but the magic he wanted was very expensive.

[Laxus Dreyar Dragon Slayer Lightning Magic: 2.000.000 Gaming Points.]

Laxus' magic was twice the price of Natsu's magic, and for Alex who only had 5 million GP, that price was still too expensive for him to casually pay.

When Ororo heard that Alex didn't know Lightning Magic she was a little disappointed, but when she heard that he was interested in learning she felt better.

"If you want I can help you study something related to lightning, as I can control it." Ororo offered with a beautiful smile.

Alex was grateful for her intention, though he knew it would hardly help, but perhaps he could help her with training after he learned magic from Laxus.

"Thanks a lot, if I need help I'll let you know." Alex responded with a smile.

Seeing their interaction, the Professor also made a suggestion. "If you're interested, Alex, you can join us sometime for training. All of the boys here are mutants, and we conduct training with everyone so that the abilities don't get out of control."

Alex just nodded, not saying much.

"How did you know I was a mutant and you couldn't touch me?" Anna asked confused as she shifted her gaze between Alex and their clasped hands.

Alex had already thought of an excuse, and responded naturally. "Actually, I noticed that you avoided physical contact with anyone, so I thought you had cleanliness OCD. But when Bobby showed off his mutant powers I related it to the way you were acting, or how Scott was wearing his sunglasses. until the night, and I thought maybe that was a feature of your skill."

Anna heard this and was a little embarrassed that he thought she was OCD with cleanliness. "So you're not afraid of me for being a mutant?"

Alex looked at her worried expression and gave her a reassuring smile as he squeezed her hand. "Are you afraid of me for being a wizard?"

Anna quickly shook her head.

"Then why should I be afraid of your powers, isn't it the same as me?" Alex answered.

Hearing this, Anna's eyes lit up, before she thought of something that would make her sad again. "But you can control your magic, I can't control my powers."

"I can control my magic 'now', but when I learned it it was also quite difficult to control, and it took a lot of training to deal with it. I believe your powers are the same way." Alex held her hand tighter, wanting to reassure her.

Seeing Anna's expression improve, he understood that it worked.

"I agree with your words, Alex. I believe that with training everyone will be able to do unimaginable things." Professor added with a smile, making Anna more confident.

"I'll let you talk, see you later Alex." Professor said before controlling the chair to move away from Alex and Anna.

Alex waved to the Professor with the hand that controlled the Magic Circle and answered. "Until later!"

When Anna saw the Magic Circle in Alex's hand, she realized something and let go of his hand quickly. "You must be tired right? I'm sorry, I missed holding someone's hand so much without having to wear a glove."

Alex had to admit, it was quite tiring to keep the thin layer of ice in his hand while focusing to rebuild Occlumency's defenses, but he found that his progress in Ice Magic and Occlumency was very fast at that!

With practice Alex felt he could use Ice Magic to cover the hand without a glitch, or with a little more time he could hold her hand without the ice and let Occlumency deal with her powers without damage.

Of course, this would take a while, as he would need to train a lot, but thinking that the training would be while he was holding her hand gave Alex a lot of motivation to train.

"I'm just a little tired. But if it's to hold your hand, it's worth it." Alex smiled as he looked at her.

Anna saw Alex's smile and looked away, becoming even more embarrassed.

'How can he make me so embarrassed?! I'm not like that!' Anna complained internally, but the feeling of happiness in her chest didn't allow her to kid herself about that.

"Then I let you train." Anna said in a very low voice.

But as Alex had been training Elven Breath for some time, he could hear what she said and quickly made the magic circle in his left hand and held her hand again.

"Then I'll train hard." He said in a low voice with his mouth very close to her ear.

Anna felt Alex's warm breath tickling her ear and felt goose bumps creep up her body.

Alex saw those beautiful white legs with the short ruffled hair and laughed, making Anna hit him and turn her head in mock anger.

But seeing her hand that didn't let go of his, Alex smiled even more, feeling that it was fun teasing this girl.
