-4 Chapter Fourteen

I couldn't believe it. My dad actually locked me up. In a dark empty cell, with big, dirty metal bars and a big lock. I tried and tried to pick the lock but then I gave up and slept off.

I was woken up by the sound of their cheers then I knew it was over. She was dead. I looked out the little window at the back of the cell. There were no stars in the black sky, not even the moon was there. And it really seemed like nature was mourning her death. I heard footsteps. Getting closer and closer and was face to face with my dad.

"Son, I did it! It is finally over!" bhe bursted out in pure joy.

"She is dead."

"No of course not, after all these years of  restlessly searching for her, I am not just going to kill her the minute I catch her. I have to torture her first, " my dad snorted.

Thank G.o.d.

Well, thank G.o.d she is alive although being tortured is not a good thing.

"So are you finally going to let me out?"

"Oh no. You have to stay there for a few more hours for being weak enough to fall for that b.i.t.c.h and almost ruining the plan. What I don't get is how she seduced you, " he blurted.

"She didn't seduce me, dad. She didn't have to. I fell in love with her because she was pretty, courageous; because like me she didn't have a choice in all of this, she was born into it. But mostly because she understood me. I killed her cousin but despite all that she didn't judge me or hate me instead she fell in love with me. "

"Oh what a beautiful load of bulls.h.i.+t, " he spat literally spitting in my face.

"No, dad it's not bulls.h.i.+t. You keep saying you are doing this for me too but I  clearly don't want this. You know I want her but you are willing to take her away from me. You are not doing this for me, you are doing this for some stupid reason that you won't even tell me."

"You are so naive. Just like your mother. Have you ever wondered why your mother died?"

"Yes, but you refuse to tell me."

"She fell in love with that stupid prince and he used her and when he was done he dumped her and married that b.i.t.c.h's mother. Your mum was so devasted because like you she loved him and believed he loved her too. You know she never really loved me, her heart was always with him. She was drunk when we made you. She couldn't bear to watch the wedding but what torture her most was that he was happy with that b.i.t.c.h's mother and when she heard they were expecting a baby she killed herself. Weeks after she had you. She couldn't watch him have the perfect life any more when she was dying inside and now stuck with a baby and boyfriend she didn't want. I truly loved your mum which was why I swore I would make sure him and the likes of him won't end up being happy, " my dad said with so much emotion that I actually realised he was still human.

"I understand I really do but she is not her dad. "

"Nyx, she might not be her dad but she is his daughter. The trait has been pa.s.sed down through genes. It's all in the DNA. They are all that, every one of them. "

"Sometimes traits can skip a generation."

"Yeah but the fact she is daughter gives me every reason to kill her. I need to make sure he doesn't have peace both on earth and his afterlife."

"Dad, can't you just leave her out of this."

"No! Do you know how traumatising it was to see my wife dead and my son on the floor crying. He denied you of having a mother and the perfect family. Don't you care about that?"

"You denied her of the same thing! She lost both of her parents not just one, dad. I think she has had enough punishment for what her dad did."

"Not enough. Not even close. She will die son. End of story. If have any conscience left in you. You will let her go. For the sake of your mum," he concluded and left me to myself.

I spent the rest of the cold lonely night thinking. The words of my dad echoed in my ears. I wondered if I should let her go. I thought about how my mum must have felt all this time watching her only son fall for her enemy's daughter. She must have been heartbroken. I longed for her. I longed for someone I have never met.

I remembered how she made me feel. How she loved me when no one else, not even my own mother did. I thought of how Yna must have felt stuck in a cell. She must think I actually betrayed her.

I knew things were probably better that way. But I couldn't just let her go. I knew I couldn't let her die. I knew I was going to do something. However, me helping her survive will be me taking a knife and stabbing my mum in her already broken heart. I needed an excuse to let her go.

It is not fair.

Why do we have to pay for our parent's mistakes?

What if dad was right and she is just like her dad?

What if she never actually liked me?

What if she was only using me to stop my dad and gain her freedom?

No. She couldn't be like her dad. She has never even met him. It could all be in the genes. Actually that's dumb. I am just being dumb. I need to do this

If I help her, how will mum feel. Actually why should I care? She didn't care about me instead she decided dying was going to be so much better than actually raising me.

Time flew by. By the time it was dawn, I still hadn't made the decision. One of my dad's men came to open the cell, and told me that he had prepared me a warm bath.

I was finally free.

I went go my old room, it was still the same, however everything was covered in dust. My bed was left just the way I left it. My black duvet and pillows were on the floor. All the weapons I  hanged around the room were covered in thin layers of dust.

I went through the bathroom door on the right of me, undressed my self and sat in the bath. I felt the warm, foamy water warm up my body. I leaned back and tried my best to relax.

After my bath, I opened my wardrobe and took out a black t-s.h.i.+rt, skinny black jeans and a grey hoodie.

I needed to see her. Even if it was to say goodbye.

I needed to apologise. I couldn't just let her die hating me. She needed to know I didn't sell out. She needed to know I didn't fake my feelings. I searched each cell in the building but she wasn't in any of them.

Then it hit me.

The bas.e.m.e.nt. I ran to the bas.e.m.e.nt but I was stopped by two of my dad's men.

"I am sorry but we can't let you in."

"I only want to see her. I promise you. Only for a minute. You can come along if you want to."

"Fine but only for a minute."

I walked in and saw her. She was on the floor facing the wall. She covered on wounds. There was blood all around her cell.

I couldn't stand it. I strolled out of the bas.e.m.e.nt certain of one thing.

I have to help her.
