Chapter 23: Payment

"Hold out your hands." Tian Yi told the figure in black.

The figure in black hesitated for a moment before silently nodding.

Slightly pulling her sleeves back, she revealed the pure hand that was underneath the black robes just the hands, nothing more and nothing less.

Tian Yi glanced at the smooth-looking hands and reached his out

The coldness surrounding the figure in black suddenly attacked him, as though it did not wish to come in contact with him.

"Watch out" The figure in black cried out, but before she could even finish warning him, the coldness was cast aside as though it was just empty air by a wave of his sleeves.

While she was in shock, Tian Yi's hand grasped hers, sending a tremor through her body it was her first time being touched by a man, and so intimately, at that.

If the disciples or elders at her Sect somehow finds out that she had held a man's hand, they would definitely freak out as if the heavens were falling on them.

A soft and fresh feeling entered Tian Yi's senses the moment he touched her hands, as though he was gently running his hands in cool water.

If the Universe somehow finds out that he had held some stranger's hand, a female at that, countless maidens would cough up blood in jealousy, and the earth would tremble with countless people stomping on the ground in resentment.

Tian Yi quickly sent a wisp of his Spirit Qi into her body just like Caiyi had when she tried to probe him, but instead of probing, he was using it to suppress the Cold Qi that was the cause of her freezing.

His Spirit Qi quickly traveled around the body, suppressing and absorbing every Cold Qi it came across as if they were nothing but empty air.

The figure in black could feel a weird warmth traveling around her body as though there was a gentle flame inside her body, quickly terminating the cold that has been causing endless pain to her body for the past few days.

She felt as though her entire body was being warmed by a campfire in the midst of winter that had nearly frozen her to death.

And shockingly, not only was the Cold Qi in her body being exterminated by this warmth, even her cultivate base was increasing by the second!

However, this effect did not last long as Tian Yi's Spirit Qi finished healing her within moments.

She was dumbfounded.

That was it?

All it took for him to heal him was just a wisp of his Spirit Qi going around her body? It didn't even take half a minute to completely heal her!

Her pride was shattered thinking how she was struggling to even suppress the Cold Qi with her entire cultivation base.

The figure in black looked at the ordinary face in front of her intensively.

His age seemed to be only around 18 years old, but one's appearance could easily be changed in the world of cultivation, easily becoming deceitful, especially someone of his caliber.

Xiao, who had been watching in the background had a confused look on his face.

In his eyes, besides the two holding hands, nothing else had happened in the past minute.

He suspected that Tian Yi was farting and only wanted to feel her hands like a pervert, but he did not say anything and continued to silently watch.

"Ahem"

The figure in black cleared her throat after Tian Yi continued to hold her hands even after finishing the treatment.

"Oh, right"

Tian Yi casually released his hands.

The figure in black stood up afterward to stretch, examining the changes in her body.

She then suddenly jumped out of the moving carriage, unsheathe the sword in her grasp, and her arms moved gracefully.

The unsheathed sword flashed in the air, creating powerful shockwaves everytime she swung.

Sword lights filled the firmament, piercing a dozen holes in the cloudy sky.

"S-She's flying! Only cultivators in the Immortal Realm can achieve such feats!" Xiao cried out with surprise.

After only one round, the figure in black was shocked at the results. Not only was her body completely healed, there were even clear signs of improvements in her cultivation base!

Tian Yi smiled upon seeing her heal.

Knowing that he had done something good by helping her, he felt a warmth inside his heart.

The figure in black flew back into the carriage, her gaze at the smiling Tian Yi.

"What is your name, again?" she asked him, her tone sounding different despite still being cold.

"Shuyi."

"Shuyi; I will remember this name. My name is Yu Bing of the Azure Phoenix Sect," she said, shocking Xiao who was listening in the background.

"T-T-T-The Four Ancient Lands!" Xiao cried out.

"You saved my life today, a debt I can only pay with my life in return. However, the way I use my life is not decided by me, but my Sect." Yu Bing said.

"I do not need any payments," said Tian Yi. "I had already said this from the start."

"I know, but I am not someone who is shameless enough to leave you without giving anything in return especially not after you saved my life my pride does not allow it!" she said in a tone filled with stubbornness.

Tian Yi became silent.

"Then how about this? I will take the thing you value the most currently on your body." He suddenly suggested. "I will be satisfied with that as a payment."

Yu Bing turned silent for a moment, silently pondering about his words.

"Very well!" she then retrieved a necklace from her robes and held it in front of her.

Tian Yi looked at the necklace with an azure-colored stone attached to it, then to Yu Bing whose hands were trembling.

The necklace was clearly important to her, so much so it caused her to tremble with hesitation.

"Are you sure?" he asked her after a moment of silence.

Yu Bing silently nodded in a slow motion.

Tian Yi reached to grab the necklace.

"Your payment has been received." He said.

"That necklace I will return to retrieve it one day, and I will give you something else in return something that is worth more than my life." Yu Bing said.

"I understand." He nodded. "And until then, I will keep it safe I promise."

His hands moved towards his head, and he wore the necklace around his neck.

Yu Bing nodded at his words, trusting that he would keep that promise.

She then turned around and jumped out of the moving carriage, her silhouette disappearing into the distance within seconds.
