Book 2: The Golden Lock of the Eight Gates

Chapter 44: The Dragon Eye

Inside the second gate of the Shang Gate, Princess Qianyou, Ah Da, Ah Er, and Gu Lin were protected by eight guards who surrounded them in a circle. Yinglan and Tianling-er were protected by Zhong Shan and Beiqingsi.

Yinglan and Tianling-er widened their eyes as they watched the gra.s.s soldiers around them. They couldn’t figure out why there was such a difference between the soldiers fighting with the eight guards which were almost at the same level as Miao Xianren, while the ones Zhong Shan was facing fought like idiots, easily cut down from just one slash of his machete.

An hour later, three of the eight guards were badly injured, while Zhong Shan didn’t seem to have put any effort into fighting.

“Qianyou, how long do we have to wait? Could it be that Shuijing has failed his task?” Gu Lin asked with a frown.

“It can’t be. Nothing will go wrong with Mr. Shuijing in charge over there. Wait a little bit longer.” Princess Qianyou replied.

“Shuijing isn’t necessary that powerful. My dad has never given any important responsibility to him.” Gu Lin immediately said jealousy.

“I told you last time to ask for Mr. Shuijing from your father, then give him to me. Have you asked your father?” Princess Qianyou looked at Gu Lin unhappily.

Gu Lin bitterly replied, “I did ask, but Mr. Shuijing wouldn’t leave our palace and my dad wouldn’t give him to me either. What can I do? Maybe I’ll ask again after we go back?”

Princess Qianyou slightly frowned and sighed, “Nevermind, nevermind. If your dad isn’t willing, you don’t need to ask again. You won’t get him even if you ask anyway.”

“Om~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

The surrounding suddenly trembled. The ground where Princess Qianyou and the group were standing on began to shake. The whole formation was becoming unstable.

“Shuijing has succeeded over there.” Gu Lin excitedly said.

“Hong Long Long~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

In the middle of the gra.s.sland, the ground cracked open. A huge door floated up from the crack, 300 meters high like the others. It stood there as if waiting for everyone to enter.

The moment all the people saw the gate, they pushed away the gra.s.s soldiers and rushed over to the gate without a second thought. Though the gra.s.s soldiers would still block their paths,  everyone knew there must be treasures behind the gate and thus made it their target.

“Eight guards, clear the way.” Princess Qianyou spoke.

“Yes.” The eight guards quickly cleared away gra.s.s soldiers so the others could move towards the huge gate.

Four guards served as the front guards, the other four, Zhong Shan and Beiqingsi were guarding at both flanks. The whole group moved towards the gate without much difficulty.

Some people had already reached the gate and were about to walk in.

“Peng~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

It seemed that a crystal door had suddenly appeared in front of the huge gate, blocking everyone.

The first person who dashed too eagerly, with a loud bang, flew backwards from the door. His head was bleeding and, tragically, fell right in front of several gra.s.s soldiers.

“Ci, ci, ci”

The person was cut into ten pieces by the gra.s.s soldiers. Dead!

The tragic fate that befell the first person made those who followed more cautious. Some of them tried to clear all the gra.s.s soldiers in the area while some tried to attack the crystal door with their swords.

“Dong, dong , dong…………………”

Those of the Gold Core Stage created a ma.s.sive sword s.h.i.+eld, but didn’t even leave a scratch on the crystal door. With their strength at the Gold Core Stage, the door still withstood it?

Maybe it was because not all the Gold Core Stage people could attack at the same time. They might be able to break the crystal door if they attacked in unison, however, with the gra.s.s soldiers distracting them, it didn’t seem possible to do so.

At this moment, Princess Qianyou and her group had also neared the door.

There wasn’t doubt in everyone’s mind about the strength of Princess Qianyou and her group. Everyone noticed them when they flew to reach the formation. After they entered the formation, a lot of people were paying attention to this group but no one got too close.

When her group walked to the front of the crystal door, everyone seemed to have come to some sort of consensus, moving away to block the surrounding gra.s.s soldiers to let this group to break the crystal door.

Everyone knew that Princess Qianyou and the two guards behind her were all at the Nascent Soul Stage, the same level as their own school’s masters or even higher than the masters.

Princess Qianyou snickered, giving a disdain glance at those people, then turned her attention to the huge crystal door in front.

“Ah Da, Roaring Tiger Fist.” Princess Qianyou called out.

“Yes.” Ah Da nodded and walked to the front immediately and sheathed his sword.

People backed away from the door. Ah Da stared at the crystal door with a cold gaze. He produced a pair of gloves in his hands and put them on each fist.

Ah Da stepped forward one step, making a lunge, while both of his hands circled his chest. With a slight twist, an airstream rose from the center of his two hands.

All of a sudden, a strong jet stream congregated towards where Ah Da from his surroundings.

“Hu~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

The powerful jet stream came so suddenly that it seemed to warp the air around him. Ah Da, with both fists, gathered all his power and punched with all his might towards the crystal door from a distance.

At the tip of his fists, a strong energy formed, created a great jetstream that rushed at the door.

“Hou~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

When he punched with both fists, it sounded like the the great roar of an angry tiger.

The jetstream, accompanied by a golden halo that Ah Da shot out, transformed into a tremendous power bolted towards the crystal door and gradually formed a unique shape.

A tiger, a most fierce tiger, a hungry tiger, a golden tiger made of pure energy at the center of the endless jetstream pounced ferociously at the crystal door.

“Hou~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

A long roar.

The huge tiger soon reached the crystal door.

“Hong~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

The huge tiger whacked at the huge crystal door like crash of thunder.

“Hualala~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

The huge crystal door abruptly broke into pieces, splintering everywhere. As they flew, the crystal pieces suddenly disappeared, as if they had never existed.

The crystal door was broken.

Just one powerful punch could open such a door. Everyone looked at Ah Da in awe.

Ah Da’s punch was too overbearing.

Zhong Shan also was shocked but he didn’t show it on his face.

The door had been broken, Ah Da quickly returned behind Princess Qianyou. Princess Qianyou didn’t pay attention to the others and led the way into the huge gate. Her group followed, then other groups trickled in behind.

Once inside, Zhong Shan creased his eyebrows. He thought this was the place of the dragon eye, yet inside the gate was another open area.

Well, it wasn’t exactly an open area, there were mountains on all sides making a great circlular valley. Down below, there were numerous small gates, each about 10 meters high.

Each gate hung in the air. As with the Shang Gate, there was a layer of fog in front of each gate so no one could see what was inside the gate.

Zhong Shan quickly scanned the valley, as a general sizing up the opponent’s army, and estimated that there must be about 80,000 doors.

“Why is there so many doors? Shouldn’t this place be where the dragon eye is?” Gu Lin called out in concern.

“Here is where the dragon eye is. Taixuzi is behind one of these doors.” Princess Qianyou squinted at the endless doors below.

“Then, how are we going to find it?” Gu Lin yelled right away. How would anyone find the one door out of those 80,000 doors?

Princess glanced at Gu Lin with a sigh! She was obviously immensely disappointed at him.

She turned to look at the people who had followed them in, about 400 or so.

“Everyone, down there, there are 88,888 doors. Those Spirit Stones that came out a while ago should be spreading behind those doors. There’s even Taixuzi’s formation soul there waiting for someone to take. With the luck of each one of you, you’re welcome to enter any of the doors.” Princess Qianyou announced to those people who had followed her group to come in.

“Thanks a lot, qianbei.” Everyone replied. They didn’t expect that Princess Qianyou would let them have the chance to enter those doors. Certainly, there were people who were suspicious. But, they knew themselves, just like the lady had said, that there were Spirit Stones down there in those doors, even if they didn’t find the formation soul.
