The security guards and the women in the front desk greeted him saying "Goodmorning Sir"
'Sir' he sure couldn't get used to being called that. They never greeted him like that before, they never greeted him, period. He thought they didn't even know his name. Now that he was married to Ha Eun, everything was different.
"Goodmorning" he said to them. They looked at him surprised and smiled. He could tell by their faces that they expected him to ignore them juts like Ha Eun does but he's not like Ha Eun. Unlike Ha Eun who always has a cold expression, he's the type to smile. As a boss, he decided to be fair to everyone. Ha Eun is pretty fair as well but she can also be quite ruthless.
He made his way to the editing department and was surprised when he saw everyone from the department waiting for him with a cake a balloons.
Everyone greeted him with open arms and were excited to have him as a boss. They said they heard a lot of good things from Bong Chol, his friend. Chang Wook smiled. It seemed that while he was with Ha Eun in Jeju Island; Bong Chol was telling everyone about how great he was.
Bong Chol appeared from behind everyone and greeted Chang Wook with a hug.
"You finally did it man, you're an editor" Bong Chol said. Chang Wook smiled and nodded.
Everyone ate cake and talked. After about an hour everyone went back to work. Bong Chol took Chang Wook to his office. It wasn't as big as Ha Eun's but, it had a desk and comfortable chairs and a TV. The desk had his name 'Mr. Lee Chang Wook'
He looked at it confused. His last name isn't Lee.
"What's with the last name?"
"You married the bosslady so, your last name obviously changed to her's" Bong Chol said with a smile. Chang Wook hit Bong Chol on the head, repeatedly. Bong Chol tried to push him away while he laughed.
"You sure know how to take jokes too far" Chang Wook said.
"And you don't know how to take one" Bong Chol said.
"Go back to work" Chang Wook said with a smile.
"Yeah, yeah" Bong Chol made his way out the door "Just in case you want a divorce, I know this lawyer…"
"Get out" Chang Wook said, not letting his friend finish his sentence. Bong Chol nodded and left.
Although he was married to Ha Eun, by Bong Chol's words and actions, he felt that people at work didn't think it would last. He looked out the window and noticed some workers glancing at him, something like envy showed in their gazes.
It also seemed that some of them believed that he didn't work for this job but slept his way into it, just like his father said to him. Of course, people would think such things, he was her secretary a week ago and suddenly he was the boss of the editing department. The only way he'll get people to back off and stop thinking such things is if he shows good leaders.h.i.+p skills and also shows that he loves Ha Eun.
He didn't care what people thought of him, but he did care about what people thought of Ha Eun.
As he was lost in thought a young woman appeared in front of him. He jumped back in his seat which also scared the woman.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I did knock" she said.
"I'm sorry, I was lost in thought. How can I help you?" Chang Wook noticed how beautiful this girl was. She looked to be in her early 20's, she had long wavy hair, hazel eyes and a tiny little mole by her right eye.
She was indeed very beautiful, but his heart belonged to Ha Eun. It seemed like, to him, no woman could compare to her.
"My name is Jung Hong Joo, I go to Y University…um…I'm an intern and I'll be your new secretary for the time being" she said.
This was surprising to Chang Wook. He never expected to have a secretary. Now that he thougth about it, with his position he would obviously have a secretary, but he didn't know what to do with one. As a previous secretary himself, he learned how to be a good mult.i.tasker and can do mostly everything by himself. He really didn't need this girl, but she is only an intern, so she won't be here long.
Chang Wook nodded and looked around his desk and gave her a folder with paperwork that seemed relatively easy.
"You can start with this" he told her.
"Just this sir?" she asked him. She noticed how much work he had yet he gave her so little. She didn't want him to feel like she was a burden. She really liked this company and wanted to work here after she graduated, luckily she was able to get an interns.h.i.+p. The only problem was that she wanted to work under Ms. Lee, but she ended up working for her husband.
She had to admit that he was pretty cute and could see why Ms. Lee fell for him but she didn't like people who slept their way into a job but if she kissed up to Chang Wook, he might talk to Ms. Lee about her and she could get a different job in the company and maybe even a raise.
"You're still young. If I gave you so much work you won't be able to go out and have fun. Its good to want to work hard but you shouldn't put your social life in the backseat. At the end of the day everyone needs friends. If you always work, later on you'll notice that you lost all of them and you'll have no one to talk to about what a horrible day you had at work"
Hong Joo was impressed by how considerate Chang Wook was towards her. She's been yelled at and bossed around to bring everyone coffee since she got here, having someone worry about her made her feel happy.
"Thank you Mr. Lee" she said but he suddenly glared at her. Did he not like being called by his last name.
"My last name is Kim" Chang Wook said. Hong Joo pointed at the name on the desk, but he waved his hand.
Hong Joo didn't know what to call him now. Should she just go with Boss?
"I don't want you to feel uncomfortable around me so you can just call me Chang Wook" he said. Hong Joo was surprised by this. You don't normally call your bosses by their first names.
"Hey, just because I'm going easy on you doesn't mean you get to slack off" Chang Wook said as he pointed at her with a grin. Hong Joo smiled and nodded "Now go to work" he said.
Hong Joo left to her desk and placed her hands on her chest. He turned even more attractive by just grinning at her. Although this man slept his way into the job, she decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.
