Chapter 100 - Who Is She?

"So are you busy today? I heard that it is your first meeting with the OnScience team?" Martin leaned back slightly while bringing the coffee mug with him. He lifted it up and took a sip.

Shao Yan also adjusted herself on her seat, while bringing both of her hands and wrapped them around her mug.

The weather was getting cooler. The building management had adjusted the indoor temperature to be slightly warm inside, but Shao Yan had always been averse to cold.

Even on a nice weather like today, it was around 22 degrees* outside, with bright blue sky and scattered white clouds; Shao Yan was wrapped in soft pink loose turtle neck, made from cashmere wool material. She paired the demure looking attire with dark blue jeans. She had also put on Dr. Marten boots with 3.5 inches block heels, in case there was a sudden rain.

Her side fringe had gotten longer, and was slightly covering her cheek. She lifted her fingers to swipe it behind her ear, "Not bad. We had morning meeting today with their project team," she paused to take a sip of her tea. She slowly put it down and kept her hands wrapped around the warmth.

Martin nodded at her statement. He was still holding onto his cup while crossing one leg over the other.

"So, as I was saying just now. I have taken a look at the list of names. Daniel has read it too. There are some familiar names that we worked with before, but rest a.s.sured, they are really capable in this industry. They know what they are doing-"

He paused in the middle of his sentence to put his mug on the table, and then he clasped his hands together and rested them on his lap.

"My only concern for now is Helen Kanagawa," he paused and let her digest his words for a while. Shao Yan was baffled upon his statement. She tilted her head to the side, trying to recall the words that were described inn the handout from this morning. She did not seem to catch anything unusual from her biography; she brought her gaze back to Martin.

Martin slightly curved his lips, while saying, "Helen is the heiress of Kanagawa Industries. Her father is a great businessman. Very smart, very hardworking, very successful. But unfortunately, those traits are not inherited to Helen."

"All her brothers are great figures as well. The eldest, Hiroyuki, is a government official. The second, Hideki, is a big music producer. So Mr. Kanagawa left with no other choice but to train his youngest, Helen, to inherit the company."

He switched his crossed legs from one to another, and picked up his mug to have another sip of his coffee.

Shao Yan patiently waited for Martin to continue. She just nodded at his words just now, and tried to remember what he was saying.

Surrounding people were chattering among themselves. It was few hours past noon time, people were mostly getting their share of coffee and tea to keep them awake after the fulfilling lunch. This was the only cafe in this building, so the business was always good.

"The problem about Helen is that she spends more than she earns. She is the youngest in the family and it is natural for her family to dote on her. But this is their biggest mistake. And Mr. Kanagawa knew that, that's why he sent her to work at OnScience to gain experience."

"So my concern is that her inexperience may actually bring your team down. Do you know what I mean?"

Shao Yan had been staying quiet the whole time. She was just listening to Martin intently. When he was done, she was hesitating for a while, before saying "Yes, I understand. Thank you for your worry."

She gave a simple smile at him, and then she looked at her surrounding, to make sure no one from On Science was actually near her proximity.

She slightly leaned closer while turning down her voice a little, "But I should have started this by telling you, that Helen is no longer in the picture. I'm not sure what has happened, but OnScience changed their Team Lead. It is now Risa Yamaguchi."

She straightened back, and looked at Martin, while chuckling softly, "So now, my question will be, what do you know about Risa? Who is she?"

!! CRASHHHH !!

"That b.i.t.c.h!"

Clatters of multi colors ceramic were swiped off the table, and landed unceremoniously on the marble floor.

All the butlers that were standing around, wisely kept their eyes glued to the floor. They did not even wince when the crisp sound echoed all over the room, and the sharp projectiles were scattered all over the corner of the room.

The waist long, wavy brunette was clenching her hands so tight, her perfectly manicured fingernails dug deep into her palm; both of her fists were shaking. No one knew if she was shaking from anger from within, or from the pain induced by own fingertips.

Some of the blonde highlighted hair strands swayed along with her body when she abruptly turned around and faced a pet.i.te servant standing fearfully behind her. The servant tried so hard to appear so small, she scrunched herself deeper.

But she could only bend so little, as she was holding a silver tray in front of her, with her mistress' mobile phone placed regally on it.

All of a sudden, the servant saw a glimpse of a shadow approaching her fast, and before she knew, it smacked the side of her head. The impact was so hard, the servant lost her balance and fell down straight to the cold ground.

Her ears were ringing and she felt a liquid started to trickle from her forehead down to her nose. She did not dare to lift her trembling fingertips to touch it, before she finally saw a drip on the floor next to her face. It was her own blood.

The servant did not have the courage to lift up her head, and just kept her body in fetal position and tried to stay as still as possible; she did not even let out a whimper.

From the corner of her eyes, she saw the lady boss was now walking towards her direction. The click-clack sound from her red pointy high heels was so terrifying, that the servant even had nightmares for a few months after that.

The lady boss stopped just right in front of her. She could hear her tender, lazy voice above her head, "Book a ticket to Shanghai."

The lady took off a ring from her right hand and threw it to the ground. The star-shaped diamond ring had a faint red blood on it. She slightly waved her bare hand to the side, and her cold voice continued, "Now, get this flea out of my face."
