The ruins we were headed to were three days away. The entire way would be a long grueling journey through the sands. At the same time, we would have to be on the lookout for demonic beasts hordes. Demonic beasts hordes were groups of demonic beasts that already had an alpha leader but no home to reside in. Normally these hordes would be rather weak in power but it was nothing a single Ruin Rader would be able to fight against alone. If you were unlucky and accidentally ran into such a horde then all you could do would be to try to run and pray that you could escape.

The death ratio for those who enter the wastelands was two out of ten. So every ten Ruin Raiders that went out two would never return. This might seem like a high death toll but this was the life on Cora. The races of Cores would not be so bad off but once the Dumacans died off the magic that once ran everything was no longer usable without magic fuel. Without a steady supply of magic fuel, nothing on Cora could run anymore. As the races' numbers dwindled and demonic beasts numbers surged. They had no choice but to move out of the ruined cities and find safe places for their people. This was how the Lafina city came about. But even now the magic fuel reserves that were left by the ancestors when the city was first built were also starting to empty out.

These magic fuel reserves were the life source of the cities. It powered every home and business. Unlike how Rio's home was controlled by magic circles. This type of magic was not used by the races. They could not use it. They could only use the technology that ran on magic fuel. It was basically like how gas or electricity was used to run things on earth.

What I found strange was that Rio was able to use the magic circle technology. Technology that she should not be able to use. Rio told me that she had spent months studying the entrance to her home before she was finally able to open it. After that, each device took her a while to use before she was able to control everything within her house. It was not until almost two years later after finding the place that she was finally able to use it all. I had to give her credit for her dedication.

Rio even made a slip of tongue and told me the first thing she learned after opening the doors to the place was how to use the toilet. But in the end, she ended up wetting herself in the progress. I figured I would need to test the magic circle thing with other people from Cora to see if Rio was unique in her ability to use the magic circles. There were many things I needed to understand about this world and many things I wanted to accomplish in this new life. This world was like an undiscovered gold mine for me. The only thing I was missing was a leveling system and this would be an RPG world. But there was no leveling system unless you count how I have to raise my magic power through s.e.x. Well, at least the rest of the aspects were there. Parts from demonic beasts were very useful in crafting things and then there were the ruins which were like treasure trove dungeons with danger lurking around every corner. I guess you could say this was more of an adventure game-style world.
