Chapter 9.1 – Making Money! Let the Performance Begin

After hearing Tian Thirteen's malevolent tone, Shen Lang smiled lightly. "Brother Tian, do you want to sleep with me?"

"Two days left. If there's no thousand gold coins handed over, your family will be killed."

Then he was gone, cloaked under the covers of the night.

All things aside, the house Shen Lang grew up in was truly broken. The roofing's had a major leaks towards the corners and so his parents and brother slept in one room whereas he slept in another on his own.

He lied comfortably on the bed, rubbing his fingers along the silken bed sheets as he pressed his cheek to the cool, white pillow.

His heart was content. How truly blessed he was to stumble upon a heartfelt family who wanted nothing but smiles and suns.h.i.+ne for him for the rest of his life.

They were poor, yes, but they always gave the best of everything for him.

Rural families were too poor. Parents are unable to gift their children new clothes for the new year. Shen Lang's family was poorer, but even then, he'd always receive three new clothes from his loving family. No matter how difficult it may be for them, his parents and even his younger brother would always find a way.

One set of clothing for the summer, one for the autumn season, and another for the Spring Festival.

His younger brother never had the luxury, never had the chance to wear new clothes. All he had were old clothes handed down.

He really doesn't know why this is so. Why do his parents dote on him so much? It doesn't make sense.

And besides, Shen Jian held no promise for his future either. He'd play and fool around every day, never once taking his life seriously, but in this regards, he was comparably better than the Shen Lang from before.

The previous Shen Lang had no deeming qualification other than his ethereal appearance. If he had not crossed this world, the previous Shen Lang would surely depend on his younger brother. Shen Lang's parents can't care for him all the time. They're nearing their old age.

"Shen Lang, you owe so much to your parents and brother… I'll be repaying them for the rest of my life…"
