The next day, I walk into Ambrose's night club. It was full and busy like normal but when I walk towards the bar, I notice there are more vampire guards standing around the club. Sure, they aren't announcing that they're security but you can see it in the way they carry themselves and the way they look around the club.
When I see the familiar bartender, he gives me a slightly off smile. I decide to play dumb and give him a big smile while saying "Hey, I need to speak with Ambrose." His awkward smile only grows as he asks "Is it important?"
His question takes me surprise, causing me to slightly frown as I ask "What's wrong?" His awkward smile strains to stay in place before he finally caves and looks around the bar. He leans forward and motions for me to do the same.
I lean forward as he says "Boss has been a little... off. He's not really able to meet people right now but if you leave a message with me, I'll make sure he gets it." My frown deepens as I ask "Off as in...?" But the bartender just stands straight and asks "Would you like something to drink?"
I stare at him in silence for a second or two before saying "Actually, yes. I'll take a shot of your best Vodka." The bartender looks mildly surprised since I normally only drink water while I'm here but he's quick to pull out the good stuff and give me a large double shot.
[If you'd like to read this part with the song I listened to while writing this, It's 'Sway with me' by Saweetie u0026 GALXARA] ^^
He pa.s.ses the drink to me and says "It's on the house!" The music hits hard and the ba.s.s makes my insides shake as I knock the shot back. It was the good stuff indeed... it didn't even burn. I toss him the empty gla.s.s, making him jump in surprise and catch it as I quickly jump up on the bar.
"Whoa! Wait wait wait!! You can't do that here! It's not that kind of bar!!" He yells and tries to grab my ankle but I'm already running across the top of the bar and picking up speed. The people at the bar have seen enough crazy drunk people to know what to do.
They grab their drinks and step back to watch the show in excitement while a few cheer me on. I wasn't drunk and I sure as h.e.l.l wasn't about to start dancing but they don't know that. The vampire security guards lock onto me and start quickly moving in my direction but one is already waiting for me at the end of the bar with a smirk.
Instead of slowing down, I pick up speed, surprising him a little but he takes on the challenge and braces himself with amus.e.m.e.nt. I use my s.h.i.+fter powers and leap off the bar! The vampire's mouth drops open as he watches me jump straight over him and grab the hanging light overhead.
The drunk people at the bar are silent for a solid three seconds before they all break out in cheers and calls. The music continues as I swing the light to the next one. The vampire finally snaps out of it and runs over to me, standing under me as the others catch up.
They bare their teeth at me and hiss out "Get down witch!" I decide to play it up a little and lean over. My hair falls down and around my face as I swing and giggle. I look down at the vampires with a wide smile as I say "Sway with me!!"
I hear one of the vampires say "Yup, she's wasted" While another says "This is kinda like a hot dream I had one time but the chick was naked." Good. I want them all to think I've just had a little too much to drink but as I glance back over to the bar, I see the bartender standing there still holding my gla.s.s with his jaw on the floor.
I give him a wink and blow him a kiss, making all the other vampires turn to look at him. He panics and throws my gla.s.s away before looking busy behind the bar. I genuinely laugh this time as I swing the light, higher and higher.
A part of me feared the lights wouldn't hold my weight but I took my changes knowing that this was a bar, things had to be tough to survive here in New Orleans. "Get her a.s.s down! Now!" One vampire yells as I take a leap!
I grab the spotlight bar and with my momentum, I swing all the way over to the V.I.P floor on the second floor. I land in a crouch on the railing overlooking the dance floor below, making a few women scream.
Instead of fighting through the crowds, I stand up on the railing and call up my s.h.i.+fter side again. I use her powers once again as I start running along the railing. People yell, shout, and even cheer as I run along the railings with the vampires running behind me but because they had to fight the crowd, their speed was much slower.
As I get to the door leading to Ambrose's office, I jump down and walk over the rest of the way with the vampires hot on my heels. A familiar face greets me as I look at the large vampire guarding the door to the office.
When I see Frank's head is back to its normal size, I give him a dark smirk, instantly making him sweat. I didn't even know vampires could sweat... huh. As I walk closer, he nervously steps back until he b.u.mps into the door behind him.
"Wait wait wait... yyyy... you can't go in there." He says as he reaches up, grabbing his head in fear. I continue walking as I say "Move, Frank, or both your heads will be shrinking this time." He makes a little noise of fear as he slides to the side, allowing me to open the door.
Before I close the door, I turn back to Frank and say "Keep them out or I'll shrink them both AND make it permanent." He looks at me like he wants to cry but I ignore the look and shut the door in his face.
