Of course, these were all fabricated stories made up by Lin Rui. It was true that he conducted experiments and research with Tony, so his parents wouldnt doubt the work-related details he concocted.

Jackson, were you in London last week when the aliens invaded Earth? I couldnt contact you during that time, and I was worried you might have been injured, Tom asked directly as soon as they entered Lin Ruis room.

Clearly, Tom was concerned about Lin Rui. Moreover, although JARVIS could mimic Lin Ruis voice and fool Lin Hai and Marie during phone calls, it was difficult to deceive Tom.
