Chen Meng faced his son: "Wei do you really think you'll be able to convince Xiuying to change her mind?"
Chen Wei said with surety: "Yes, I think I'll be able to. She's always done what I've asked through the years without fail. She must just be angry at discovering the momentary indiscretion between Yu Yan and me. Once her anger has calmed, I'm sure she'll see reason. She can't throw away the years we've shared together so easy. I do think its going to take some time to convince her."
Chen Wei may have sounded sure of himself but in his heart there was a trace of doubt. He was trying to convince himself as well as everyone else that Li Xiuying would change her mind and obediently be his again.
Li Yu Yan was clenching her fists so hard that her nails drew blood from her palms. After all, how could she bare to hear that the man who professed to love her the most, calling the relations.h.i.+p between them an unintentional accident? How could he degrade her by calling her a 'momentary indiscretion?!'
She had given her innocence to Chen Wei, she had spent years with him. There may not be love, but what about loyalty and respect? Li Yu Yan had tears of anger in her eyes. How could Chen Wei try and throw her away like a discarded plaything?
Chen Wei, I have kept score of everything you've said today. I shall return it to you 10 times over!!! Do you really think that I LI YU YAN would allow you to happily marry that unwanted orphan that's not fit to even breath the same air as me?!
The Li family had no idea at the depths of the relations.h.i.+p between Chen Wei and Li Yu Yan. They were all aware that the two of them were dating and had some feelings for each other, but they did not know that the physical relations.h.i.+p between them had progressed to such a degree.
If they did... perhaps they wouldn't have sat around scheming about how to get Li Xiuying to marry Chen Wei. Hhmm or perhaps they still wouldn't care, would they sacrifice the opportunity to control a cash cow like Li Xiuying for the dignity of their daughter?
The Chen family and Li family continued to strategize about how to lure Li Xiuying back into the palm of their hands. All except Li Yu Yan who with a heart full of venom was plotting the demise of Chen Wei and Li Xiuying.
....
Health clinic
Across the city, there was also a certain someone who wanted to get closer to Li Xiuying even if he himself hadn't realized it yet.
Qin Song was b.u.t.toning up his s.h.i.+rt as the doctor was typing on his computer.
Qin Song's voice held a touch of anxiety: "Dr. Kong, what's wrong with me? Is it deadly?"
Dr. Kong confidently spoke: "You are in the peak of your health. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you. All the tests came back perfectly normal. Additionally the extra tests to look at the electrical activity of your heart (ECG) and the anatomy of your heart (echocardiogram) showed no abnormalities. Your heart is fine."
Qin Song reiterated what he had said earlier: "But I've had palpitations, sweaty palms and I've felt breathless on two separate occasions. This has never happened before."
Dr. Kong frowned, there was clearly nothing wrong with Qin Song so why was he wis.h.i.+ng himself sick?
Dr. Kong started clutching at straws: "Did the situations have anything in common, where you eating something at the time? Where you outside? Was there a particular perfume you could smell?"
When Qin Song heard the word perfume, he recalled the way Li Xiuying smelled. He was particularly sensitive to scents due to his heightened sense of smell. Not many people knew about his Hyperosmia. He hated strong synthetic smells, especially the perfume Zhou FengMian seemed to douse herself in. Li Xiuying however didn't smell noxious, she smelled like summer and citrus.
Qin Song: "Yes there was a scent I smelt both times."
Dr. Kong: "Okay, so maybe it could be because of the perfume?"
Qin Song nodded: "Right, like some sort of allergic reaction?"
He was allergic to Li Xiuying's perfume. It all made sense now.
Dr. Kong: "Well did you have a rash? or widespread itching? Any Sneezing, a runny nose, watery eyes? Headaches? inability to concentrate? Wheezing? Hives? Rashes? generalized itching?
Qin Song: "Only an inability to concentrate."
Dr. Kong stared at Qin Song.
Please just leave! There's nothing wrong with you!!
Dr. Kong: "I don't think you had an allergic reaction."
Qin Song: "Then what do I have?"
Dr. Kong wanted to cry, he gave up: "Would you like me to prescribe you some antihistamines?"
Qin Song nodded.
An allergy.
Dr. Kong handed the prescription to Qin Song: "Only take one when you experience any symptoms of allergy, such as watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, rash, itchy and/or wheezing. Please read the leaflet inside the packet."
Qin Song nodded even though he wasn't paying attention.
Qin Song stood up and opened the door; he looked at Qin Xian Jun who was sitting on the chair outside: "Jun, come in."
Dr. Kong looked up to see Qin Xian Jun enter.
Dr. Kong cautiously asked: "What can I do for you today?"
Another Qin?!
Qin Xian Jun: "I want a full body check up, particularly looking at my neurological functioning and eye sight."
Dr. Kong: "I see, I'll start by asking you a few questions. Do you have any reason to think your eye sight and cognitive functioning is compromised?"
Qin Xian Jun: "I think I had a visual hallucination, followed by an out of character thought."
Dr. Kong maintained a professional demeanor: "Okay, I'll continue asking you a few more questions and then do a physical examination."
45 minutes later Dr. Kong was finished checking and rechecking Qin Xian Jun.
He was absolutely exhausted.
Dr. Kong: "You're perfectly normal."
Qin Xian Jun: " What About a scan of my brain? Are you sure I..."
Dr. Kong cut him off "You're fine."
What was wrong with the people in the Qin family?! Inside he was screaming; what did I do in my past life to deserve this?!!!!
Qin Xian Jun left the room unsatisfied.
Qin Xian Jun and Qin Song made their way back to the Qin mansion.
Of course before they left the hospital, Qin Song got his antihistamines from the hospital pharmacy.
