The worm robot was one of the few military grade robots in the s.h.i.+p. The Siege worm was designed after an alien life from known as Catastrophe Worms. They were predators and were found on many planets which had high radiation levels and No oceans, despite being Goldilocks Zone.

The water was available underground and the underground life forms would be main inhabitants of such planets. The catastrophe worm was such a worm and usually such planets were only suitable for mining for humans. The worms would often destroy the mining bases in these planets and were thus called as catastrophe worms.
