Chapter 1517: Unt.i.tled
However, Jun Wuxia was too excited to notice Master Bai’s awkward expression, and she dashed off, moving as effortlessly as a happy b.u.t.terfly.
Master Bai shook his head and heaved a long sigh as he watched her scamper off.
My dear princess, I hope you’re strong enough to take it,
he thought.
Jun Wuxia rushed into the empress dowager’s tent excitedly.
“Father, did you want to see me?” Laxue held up the curtain for Jun Wuxia when she saw her coming.
However, Jun Wuxia only heard a furious voice.
“Kneel!”
The sound was like a thunderclap in Jun Wuxia’s ears.
Frightened, she stood there in bewilderment and stared at Emperor Wu in disbelief.
“F- Father…” Jun Wuxia sounded scared, because she really was terrified.
Emperor Wu glared at her. “Kneel! Now!”
He sounded so fierce; he had never spoken to her like this before.
Jun Wuxia immediately burst into tears.
Emperor Wu had a lot of daughters but only one mother. Needless to say, they didn’t mean the same to him.
“Make her kneel!” Emperor Wu bellowed.
Jun Wuxia was dumbfounded!
She even forgot to cry. Raising her head, she stared at Emperor Wu in bewilderment. There was no expression on her face, as if she had really been struck by lightning.
Make her kneel… Make her kneel?
Those words kept replaying in her head.
Emperor Wu had quite a few guards around him, and two of them stepped out. One grabbed Jun Wuxia’s arm, while the other one pressed her down.
Thump!
Poor Jun Wuxia. She was forced to drop to her knees.
“Father!” Jun Wuxia finally realized what was happening. She burst into tears, crawled toward Emperor Wu on all fours, and cried loudly as she wrapped her arms around his thigh.
“Father — father — why are you doing this to me? Father, what did I do —”
Jun Wuxia cried so sadly and looked heartbroken.
Emperor Wu pitied her for a second or two, but when he thought about his bedridden mother, he flared up again.
He stared at Jun Wuxia. “Did you bring Her Majesty the roast fish?!”
Jun Wuxia was perplexed, but she still nodded.
Emperor Wu asked, “Did you cook it yourself?”
Jun Wuxia felt conflicted.
Of course the answer was no, but she had already told the empress dowager that she had cooked the fish herself. Was there something wrong with it?
That shouldn’t be the case. What could possibly be wrong with the fish? If she admitted now that she hadn’t roasted the fish herself, it would damage the empress dowager’s trust in her…
“Did you roast it yourself or not?!” Emperor Wu glared at her.
“Yes… I roasted it myself…” Jun Wuxia acknowledged it.
“You roasted the fish, brought it here, and fed it to Her Majesty, all by yourself?” Emperor Wu looked into Jun Wuxia’s eyes.
Jun Wuxia said, “Yes…”
Slap!
Emperor Wu slapped her in the face. “How dare you!”
Blood oozed out from the corner of her mouth, and she was dumbfounded.
“Father…”
“How dare you try to harm Her Majesty! Why did you do it? Speak!” Emperor Wu’s eyes were bloodshot red.
It pained him to see the way the empress dowager lay weakly in bed.
