Wen Ruo’s voice trembled as she attempted to defend herself: “Master Sheng, please don’t speak nonsense. If you don’t have any evidence…”

“You can have as much evidence as you want. Do you think no one can trace your actions back to you just because you used a satellite phone to call a reporter that you trust?”

Zhai Yunsheng’s voice and posture were both languid.

I didn’t promise,” Jian Yiling replied quietly. Her indifferent expression was a stark contrast to Wen Ruo’s fierce expression.

Zhai Yunsheng slowly said: “The person who promised your grandma was me. Furthermore, I only said that Jian Yiling won’t say anything. I did not say that I would not say anything.”

Therefore, Zhai Yunsheng technically wasn’t breaking his promise to Grandma Wen.

In reality, Grandma Wen did not know what Wen Ruo did. She merely followed what Wen Ruo asked her to do. She just reminded Jian Yiling to be kind with her words when she was talking to Zhu Zimo and Wen Ruo.

Wen Ruo froze again. It was as though she lost her soul.

On the other hand, Zhu Zimo was furious.

He dated Wen Ruo because she was the type of girl he liked. Furthermore, even though the Wen family wasn’t a powerful household in Beijing, they still had a lot of a.s.sets under their name. Therefore, their families were relatively well-matched in terms of social status.

After realizing that Jian Yiling was going to become the future matriarch of the Zhai family, he felt that dating Wen Ruo was definitely the right choice.
