The two girls finished showering and were getting ready. They had about an hour to get dressed for the fancy restaurant Minhyun booked. He wanted to meet in a private area.
While exiting the restaurant, Yoona had found out that Minhyun was a prominent figure in the business world, making him easier to be recognized by other people. To not be interrupted or overheard, it was important for them to be separate from the other customers.
Yoona was shocked to see the extent of Minhyun's popularity. All of Jaeun's friends knew him by name and status, which caused them to throw themselves over him. This made her more curious to the mysterious being Minhyun had become. The small child had really made a name for himself. What type of person was he now?
Yoona shook her head. She'll find out later tonight. No need to make guesses right now.
Since they were meeting at a posh restaurant, as waitresses, both girls knew that they would have to dress appropriately for the dinner. Dress code was important for restaurant etiquette.
Eunha, as the beauty perfectionist she was, was curling her hair in with a straightening iron. She stood in front the mirror to make sure everything looked perfect. Due to her deathly straight hair, curling the ends was a daily routine for her when going out.
"You know, back at the restaurant, it looked like you and Minhyun were filming a scene from a drama. It was so cute," she said, breaking the silence.
Yoona laughed while coating mascara on her lashes. To keep her hair out of her face, she was wearing a bunny ear headband. "How so?"
"Well," Eunha began while placing her index finger on her chin. "First off, he's a handsome guy and you're a beautiful girl. That automatically makes us feel like we are watching celebrities act. Secondly, the chemistry between you too was strong. He was so intense. And that hug he gave you. Oh lord, for a second, I wanted to be in your position."
"Really?" Yoona said with shock. As the person involved, she thought the whole situation felt like a dream. It was interesting to hear that the bystanders felt the same way.
"Yup," Eunha answered. She let out a dreamy sigh. "I really wished I was in your spot, to be a recipient of such intensity."
Suddenly, Eunha widened her eyes. She didn't want Yoona to misunderstand the meaning behind her words. "Of course though, as a friend I would never take your man. I meant the situation overall."
Yoona rolled her eyes. She didn't see a problem with Eunha's statement to begin with. "You can do whatever you want."
"Please," Eunha said with a snort. "As if I could seduce a guy of his caliber. Besides, Minhyun looks at you like you are the only girl in the world. I don't stand a chance, even if I wanted to." She grabbed a few strands of hair with her hand before running the iron over.
Did he look at her in that way? Yoona knew that his gaze was intense, but she thought he looked at everyone like that. After all, they were totally platonic while being friends during childhood. There was no way he was in love with her, especially since they had recently started talking again. He didn't know her present personality that well. Plus, they hadn't seen each other for a long time. There was no way.
"You're lying," Yoona replied. She finished coating her mascara and fluttered her eyelashes to make sure they were perfect. Although she didn't put on makeup often, today she felt the need to try her best. "We're just friends."
Eunha turned her head, looking straight at her friend, before raising an eyebrow. "Whatever you say, Miss I'm Childhood Friends with a hot CEO."
Yoona groaned. "That nickname sounds like it could be the t.i.tle of a terrible, cheesy novel."
Eunha grinned. "What can I say? I have a talent with my words. Plus, if you think about it, the whole situation does seem fictional like a novel. After all, who would've thought you had a rich and handsome childhood friend? You should've told me!"
Yoona pursed her lips. The whole situation did seem unreal. After all, the truth in her mind had turned upside down. "I didn't know that I had him either. All my life, I thought he was dead."
"How does that even happen?" Eunha asked while scrunching her eyebrows.
Yoona shrugged. She looked up, trying to relive the memory back then. "My mother lied to me. Though I don't exactly know why."
During their depression bus ride, she was a hundred percent sure her mother said that Minhyun was dead. Those words had stuck to her mind the entire ride. She could not sleep due to the horror of finding out her friend was gone forever.
She let out a sigh. "I should ask her about that. The whole situation is weird."
"Definitely," Eunha replied. "There might be some important information about you two that we don't know yet."
Yoona giggled. "You sound like an detective from a police drama. It's probably not that deep."
Eunha stuck out her tongue. "Who knows? Maybe he might turn out to be your long-lost brother or something."
Yoona widened her eyes and hit her friend in the shoulder. "Eunha! You're crazy!"
"What?" Eunha said while giggling. She shrugged her shoulders. "We have to consider all options because we never know. Plus, I swear I saw that happen in a Korean drama one time..."
Yoona finished coating her lashes and stood up from the ground. She made her way to the closet. Before speaking, she quickly turned around to face her friend. "Topic change. I'm getting uncomfortable with your little shenanigans."
Eunha giggled while finis.h.i.+ng the last few touches to her hair. "Alright, topic change. Well, what is there to talk about? Hm... Oh! I just wanted to say that I am very excited for this dinner. My broke b.u.m has never been to such a fancy restaurant before other than Bianchi, but that's only because we worked there. I can't wait to try all the delicious food and to be served by other professional waiters or waitresses."
"I'm excited for you!" Yoona exclaimed while standing in front of her open closet. She was choosing what to wear for the occasion. Since her outfits mainly consisted of simple pieces, she wasn't sure what to wear. "Jaemin always brought me to nice restaurants so I don't-"
She stopped herself from speaking. It felt awkward talking about her ex-boyfriend.
A cough escaped her lips. "Anyways. They are really nice to go to. The food is amazing most of the time. It's a blessing to your tongue."
After taking one last look at her hair, Eunha turned off her straightening iron and stood up to walk beside of her friend. "Ou, all I eat is cup ramen so i'm pumped."
Yoona leaned her head against Eunha's shoulder. "Let's hope the ramen didn't cheapen your taste buds."
"Hey!" Eunha yelped before letting out a pout. "So mean."
Yoona chuckled. "You are too fun to tease."
She continued: "Anyways, if you don't mind can you help me find something to wear? Most of my clothes are too plain and the pretty pieces bring back bad memories."
After their break up, unlike Jaeun who made an effort to torment her, Jaemin hadn't reached out to her at all. He was completely silent. It was harder to get over him because she had so many questions in her mind and doubts to whether or not he truly meant his words. Obviously, he was an a.s.shole for the whole bet but she couldn't believe that their love was all lies. She wanted to know if his feelings were truly all fake. He was a mystery of its own.
That was why seeing some of the clothing items hurt her heart. They were specifically bought for dates with him.
She needed to get over him. She knew this fact. But it was hard.
Eunha pointed to a dress in the corner of the closet, the red fabric shone bright against the neutral colors. "How about that one? It looks pretty."
Yoona grimaced. It was the exact dress she wore while on her date with Jaemin and his favorite piece. She definitely did not want to wear that. "Bad memories."
Eunha nodded, understanding where her friend was coming from. "If you feel uncomfortable with everything, why don't you piece together your simple items to overall create a fancy outfit? I'll help. After all, my major is fas.h.i.+on. There are plenty of ways to beautify an outfit. Just watch."
When it came to clothes, Eunha had a knack of styling. She had been interested in fas.h.i.+on ever since she was in high school and drew daily to improve her skills in creation. Her dream was to become a fas.h.i.+on designer in the future and getting people to wear her pieces.
Yoona trusted Eunha to create the perfect outfit.
"Alright," she said with a smile. "I trust you."
"Don't worry," Eunha replied with an evil grin. "I'll make sure to make you look hot. Minhyun won't know what hit him."
