151 Not So Sweet Dreams

After was.h.i.+ng up and changing into a pair of cute pink pajamas, Yoona made her way to Minhyun's room. When she arrived, he was already sitting on his bed. In his hands, he was scrolling through a tablet, probably looking at work-related materials.

She slowly crept into the bed and sat beside of him. While leaning her head against his shoulder, she snaked her arm around his. G.o.d. She just loved cuddling with him.

However, when she looked down to see what he was working on, it was different from what she'd imagined. Her heart suddenly felt heavy.

"Is that…"

He glanced over. "Yup, I'm planning Ji-ho's funeral."

On his screen, he was confirming the location and invitation.

"Who are you inviting?" Yoona asked. From Ji-ho's story, it seemed as though he wasn't close with many people. It would be tricky thinking of a list.

"Well, for starters, I noticed that the orphanage he was in wasn't the best environment. I didn't invite anyone from there. However, at the hospital there were a few nurses and doctors who were fond of him. Also, he seemed to have a few buddies from online. That boy gave his White Mask account's username and pa.s.sword details to me, so I decided to invite the people he was closest to."

Yoona nodded. "That sounds like a good amount of people."

Minhyun pursed his lips for a moment. "Also, a few higher-up individuals from my company are coming as well. I told them about how Ji-ho has potentially created an AI that could change the world. They wanted to be at the funeral of a future hero."

She furrowed her eyebrows. "Okay…"

"Oh, and a few of our business partners are coming as well. Mainly people involved in our technology based supply chain."

"Isn't that a bit too much…?"

"Well, not compared to the President. He wanted to come too."

Minhyun was now taking it too far. Yoona couldn't help but open her mouth in shock. "The P-president? Of the country?!?"

"I was actually supposed to meet him today but I had to cancel because of today's circ.u.mstances. He wanted a follow-up and so I told him about Ji-ho and his potential… And he wanted to come."

Yoona sent him a blank expression before crossing his arms. "This isn't a party! You can't invite that many people for a funeral."

Minhyun stayed silent for a moment before nodding. "You're right. I'll revoke the President's invitation to come."

"That's not what I meant!"

He chuckled before ruffling her hair. "I know what you mean. Don't worry."

His cheeks slightly reddened in embarra.s.sment. "I think I got too excited bragging about how great Ji-ho is. Now everyone is eager to see him, knowing that I rarely give out compliments."

She giggled. "That makes a lot more sense."

Then, Yoona pursed her lips. "Well, I know for a fact that Ji-ho would really like having the President at his funeral."

"Yeah," Minhyun whispered. "He would."

With that one statement, the air quickly changed to a depressing atmosphere. Both of them could imagine Ji-ho's smiling face, bragging about having the President at his funeral. He would really love it. Truly.

If he was here, he would brag to everyone in the world, emphasizing on his 'importance' It would've been annoying… But cute at the same time...

The tears began to well up in her eyes. But, she quickly wiped them with her sleeve. After all, this was not what Ji-ho would want. He wanted for them to be happy, even after his death.

A deep breath escaped her lips. Right. Now was not the time to be distressed.

Since she was the cause of this bleak atmosphere, she was going to try to joke around to change it. "Maybe while we're at it, we should invite some celebrities as well."

Minhyun raised an eyebrow. "I totally could. Under MH we also have a broadcasting station and have relations with entertainment agencies and celebrities."

"Celebrities what? Is this my chance to meet my future husband," she teased.

The playful look in his eyes switched to something darker. He dropped the tablet next to him and quickly moved his body over hers. His arms were over her shoulders with palms against the wall behind her. His face was close.

She felt embarra.s.sed under his piercing gaze.

"W-what are you doing?"

"Repeat that again," he muttered under his breath. "Future husband what?"

Yoona focused on calming her heart, before letting out an innocent smile. "I meant, I'll meet them with my future husband. You."

He narrowed his eyes, a.n.a.lyzing her face. Then, he nodded before going back to his original position on the bed. "Good."

A giggle escaped her lips. Sometimes, Minhyun had this possessive side that popped out at the most interesting moments. She looked at him with a knowing gaze. So cute. Although he was supposed to be the scary CEO, at times, in her eyes, he resembled a jealous kid at times.

"Well," she began. "Don't use the tablet for too long. It's bad for your eyes."

He sent her a blank stare. "I have perfect 20/20 vision."

"But you won't have that anymore, if you keep staring at the screen," she teased while poking his arm.

A smirk appeared on my face. "Good. Then I won't be able to see your face as clearly anymore."

Did he just? Yoona gasped. He never insulted her… Ever! Although it was a surprising action, she quite liked this side of him. "What did you just say?"

A chuckle escaped his lips. "I'm kidding. By the way, I'm almost done so we'll be sleeping soon."

"Okay," she said with a smile.

After a few more clicks, he had finished. Then, by using an app on his tablet, he was able to turn off the lights.

Once they comfortably positioned themselves on the bed Minhyun wrapped his arms around her and pulled himself closer. Then he kissed her neck. "Goodnight."

"Yes and sweet dreams," she whispered.

He let go and they returned to their original positions. If it was any other day, Minhyun would try to go further, however, today was not the day. Instead, he just wanted to sleep and pretend that today was a dream.

That night, despite going to bed earlier than usual, the two could barely sleep a wink. Although they stayed silent with their eyes closed, trying their best to calm their minds, in the end, their hearts betrayed them.

No matter how hard they tried to smile and joke around.

Even with the effort Ji-ho put into trying to brighten up his death.

In the end, they had lost a precious friend in their lives.

That night, Ji-ho's death haunted their sleeps. And for many more nights to come.
