Chapter 80 Bushy-Tailed Mosquitos

“Humans! You shouldn’t have come here!” Balamu focused its Mental Power and projected it into Old Zhou’s mind. At the same time, black mist was released from its body and started corroding Old Zhou’s mental fortitude.

Old Zhou felt the black mist rampaging in his body as his emotions fluctuated. He tried his best to suppress it as long as he could and rebutted, “You killed millions of my kind, I swear I’ll pull out your tendons!”

An Octoviolet Silversnake naturally possessed strong Mental Power, so Old Zhou didn’t find it strange that it could communicate with humans through their conscious minds.

“Hmph! I don’t care about squabbling with a human. I’ll let you go today—tell your leader to never set foot here ever again!”

Balamuleft after saying that and Old Zhou crumpled to the ground. The region was devoid of any life except for him. Cold sweat poured from all over his body as he cursed himself. A mere tier four Octoviolet Silversnake had managed to suppress almost half of his strength just from its presence alone! But that didn’t mean that he was afraid of it. He wanted to flay that damned snake and tear out its tendons, but there was an invisible force suppressing him as they were fighting. Against an Octoviolet Silversnake, he couldn’t even use half of his strength, as if his hands were shackled by chains and his body was tied with weights.

After he finally recollected his wits and regained the strength to stand up, he suddenly realized something alarming. That snake was only a tier four beast, which was strong enough to be at the Beast General rank, but to think it held such power!

He kept his thoughts close to his heart as he wasted no time and chased down the armored car to relay the message.

……

The exercise had been going on for five days, and the rations that’d been given to the students finally ran out. From this point on, it would truly be a survival exercise in the wilderness.

“Xiang Ning, is this feasible? Why do I feel like you’re tricking me?” Fang Rou pouted, as her body was covered in mud.

“Shh! Don’t you see those Bushy-Tailed Mosquitos? If we’re bitten by even one, there’s a high chance of it getting infected and it’d itch like hell. Can you endure that?” Xiang Ning rolled his eyes.

Over the past five days, their group had unfortunately been separated.

Someone from their squad had accidentally shot a flying knife into the nest of the Bushy-Tailed Mosquitos and they had been chased through the entire forest. It was only then they split up as a last resort as they would easily be found if they hadn’t done so.

Yes, they were that unfortunate.

Fang Rou thought about the black fur and disgusting heads of the Bushy-Tailed Mosquitos and shuddered.

“What should we do now? We’re surrounded by them.” Currently, the two of them were hiding between the roots of a large tree, huddling close to each other so they wouldn’t be found.

Xiang Ning had been feeling Fang Rou’s warmth and soft skin the entire time. He couldn’t resist and finally pinched her a bit.

Pak!

“I’m talking to you! Where do you think you’re touching me!” Fang Rou was mad and exasperated. This was an emergency!

He took back his hand, but shamelessly ignored what had happened as he explained, “Some insects are attracted to light and will mindlessly follow it in the dark. Coincidentally, mosquitos are the same, but I’m not sure whether the Bushy-Tailed Mosquitos have the same instinct or not.”

Xiang Ning was thinking about a strategy while Fang Rou took out whatever she had in her bag that could become a light source: a glow stick, flint, flare gun, and some flares. He was rendered speechless and flicked her forehead. “It’s daytime now, why’re you giving me those? Do you want me to command the sun to set now?”

Fang Rou massaged her forehead and pouted. She thought about how she would have to sit this close to him until nightfall and started squirming.

Xiang Ning was still a healthy boy, and he couldn’t resist her charms for long. He leaned back and held Fang Rou in his embrace. “Alright, you can rest first. I’ll wake you up when it's night.”

Initially, she was mad about Xiang Ning touching her without her consent, but soon found that her new position was very comfortable and fell asleep.

“What a weirdo.” Xiang Ning held her tighter as he silently laughed.

When dusk came, he gently laid her against the tree trunk. Before leaving, he used some leaves and branches to hide her.

The Bushy-Tailed Mosquitos weren’t strong, with the strongest one ever recorded at around tier one, six-star. Their threat came from their numbers, as well as their bite. A bite would often lead to an infection, causing unbearable itchiness and fever.

Xiang Ning acted quickly, as he needed the cover of night to fight against the Bushy-Tailed Mosquitos. The next fight would be dangerous, and he needed to increase his Mental Powers if he were to have a fighting chance. Only with sufficient strength could he protect Fang Rou.

He tailed the Bushy-Tailed Mosquitos and found their nest, then gathered some leaves and dry fiber to light a fire.

The nest of the Bushy-Tailed Mosquitos was located within a cave on a cliff wall, a few meters off the ground. Xiang Ning was barely able to make out the nest that had a hole stabbed in it by a flying knife.

“Sigh, it would’ve been preferable if we’d stabbed a hornets’ nest.” Xiang Ning was grumbling. A normal mosquito species wouldn’t make a nest, but it was a different case for the Bushy-Tailed Mosquitos. Since they were a ferocious beast, their size was bigger than normal mosquitos. Due to that, they couldn’t rest on tree branches or the surface of a water source and chose to live in caves instead. The sole reason why they had to build a nest as a shelter was to hide from birds. Their big size and slow speed made them the favorite prey for many birds.

Information about the Bushy-Tailed Mosquitos was flowing into Xiang Ning’s brain, but at that point he really didn’t care that much. All he wanted was to earn Fury Points and get stronger. He lit the fire and covered it with fresh leaves. Soon, a cloud of thick smoke was floating into the cave.

Within two minutes, all of the Bushy-Tailed Mosquitos inside the nest were agitated by the smoke and flew out. They were angered when they saw the perpetrator.

Fury Points +56

Fury Points +65

He smiled as he killed two Bushy-Tailed Mosquitos at the same time using his flying knives. He had just successfully incited the rest of the Bushy-Tailed Mosquitos.
