Chapter 457 Level 4 Aerospace Industry

The bodyguard knew his young master well. If there was a word that could encapsulate what Jerry Walker was, it would be the Devil. There was no doubt that he was the devil, every description you have of the Devil that you can think of would be applicable to him.

“Did you know? Many people force themselves to remain calm in front of me, but after some things happen, they’ll fall to their knees and beg. He… he is no exception.”

“Do we need to deal with the Ye family?”

“Heh, do I look like a person who would threaten another person’s loved ones?”

Hehe, you are a person like that. The bodyguard stared at his young master. He would definitely be beaten to death in less than half an hour if it wasn’t for his family background. Unfortunately, he was the young master. The man had decent cultivation and the people around him were powerful. There was even a tier seven Sect Master with him on this trip, yet his actions still made life very difficult for the bodyguard as a subordinate.

Xiang Ning didn’t actually take the young master of Jerry Constructions to heart. He was thinking of traveling through the night. He didn’t want to waste any time. Although he had some time to take orders, he was particular about whether the orders would be in locations suitable to train his body.

As per his ritual before a hunt, he had a full meal, then went back to his room to sleep. Since there was less blood in the brain after a meal, he quickly fell asleep. It was important to be energetic for the hunt.

At one in the morning, he woke up, yawned, and got off the bed. He scratched his disheveled hair, symbolically threw on a backpack, and left.

“Wow, it’s this late and you’re still heading out? Today’s orders must pay very well.” The boss lady stood on a twenty-centimeter-tall stool, counting money while leaning tiredly on the counter.

“It’s decent.” Xiang Ning smiled, got on his Permafrost, and sped off.

Beep beep beep!

He had just driven out of the city when he received a call. He checked the time to confirm that it was one in the morning. Why would his master, Dong Qianyi, be calling at this hour? He couldn’t make Dong Qianyi wait, though, so he picked up the call and Dong Qianyi’s voice came through his earpiece. He could hear various sounds from the background.

“Master, what’s up? Why aren’t you sleeping? It’s late.”

“Eh? You aren’t asleep?”

“Even if I was, I would’ve been woken up by the call.” After they bickered a bit, they finally reached the main topic.

“I know you discovered some ruins on your end, you should receive clearance to explore the area. When you enter, help me do something. If you’re able to head toward the main control center, see if there’s a black box. I’ll send you a picture later.”

“Black box?”

“You don’t know? They only call them ‘ruins’, but they’re actually historical artifacts from Earth’s aerospace industry a long time ago. Although the Chaos was built by us, we were inspired by historical artifacts,” Dong Qianyi said with reverence.

To the universe, they were still too tiny. At this point, humanity had only just reached the brink of space travel, with a budding ability to migrate civilians to other planets. In the ruins, they found more undecipherable technology that was beyond their current aerospace technology.

If the universe was separated into ten levels, then after hundreds of millions of years of development, Earth was currently only at level four. Humanity was progressing quite slowly and hadn’t even fully realized their level-four abilities yet. [1]

“As for the black box, there might be a huge quantity of data in it. Not just information on technology, but also other things that could help us understand the universe,” Dong Qianyi said seriously.

Xiang Ning understood the severity and nodded. “I understand, Master.” Although humans were living well now, it took many years of development to keep the earth’s beasts under control. They were even able to modify planets for humans, and now, even the people on Azura could migrate as well.

In the past, humans had lived in the cracks of nature but now they had adequate space to breathe. And once such a peace had come, humanity had developed greed, just like how Azura was now divided into three parties and riddled with political instability.

After some small talk, Xiang Ning hung up and sped toward the ruin.

During this week of ‘free time’, he hadn’t just been cultivating and completing orders. Xiang Ning rode his Permafrost in the wilderness, clearing a small path. With Sovereign’s Throne and Disguise activated, low-tier beasts didn’t dare approach and high-tier beasts were too lazy to offend their equally powerful fellows.

Thus, this path now basically belonged to Xiang Ning. Other people might need nonstop travel of a day and night to arrive, but he arrived at the ruin’s entrance right at sunrise. He hid the Permafrost, turning on its camouflage setting to blend with nature, then went straight for the Heavenly Door. He had visited the place several times, and every time, he had the same feeling. Since he had stronger Mental Power than other people, and was sensitive, he understood the dangers better than others.

According to intel, the entrance of the historical artifact was the lake Xiang Ning had seen. He had just walked to the bottom of the Heavenly Door, which took barely ten minutes after his arrival, when a loud sound came from the sky. He looked up and saw a fighter jet fly past, chased by hundreds of flying beasts.

Xiang Ning stroked his chin. “Nice, very nice. I can’t believe they dared operate a fighter jet over the wilderness. If they encounter a particularly fast and strong flier, that plane’s likely going to crash.” And when the jet flew past the Door, he saw two silhouettes ejected from it.

“Tsk, that’s even more impressive. They’re landing right in front of hundreds of flying beasts!”

Xiang Ning felt like he was being educated.

Just as he had expected, the two people were instantly engulfed by part of the flock, but after five seconds, the two people burst through the herd, falling along with several beasts.

Xiang Ning had just witnessed proof of the adage that, with power, one could really do whatever they wanted.

At least a quarter of the flock had attacked them, yet the humans remained fine while the beasts lost their flight capabilities one by one, crashing to the ground.

The humans landed on a flat patch of land about two hundred meters away from Xiang Ning. They only opened their parachutes during the last two hundred meters, though it didn’t really seem to help their speed of descent.

Xiang Ning clearly saw that they were wearing top-tier battle armor, so they would be fine.

And in the next second, at least thirty more beasts crashed into the ground.

Xiang Ning clapped. He couldn’t help himself.

1. This seems to be very similar to the Kardashev scale, which divides civilizations into types 1, 2, 3, and 4, with humans at 1. More info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kardashev_scale ☜

Honestly, I dont know if the author uses the Kardashev scale. Could be an arbitrary scale that he made up for the story. At this point I just accept it as it is
