Everyone was in an uproar when they saw what was happening on the livestream.

“You’re fucking amazing! That’s such a big brain!”

“To think that even works?!”

“And here I thought how good that damn rodent was. To think you could counter it like this!”

“How could we not know that?!”

“Yeah! How could we not think about something that easy?! Thank goodness he made it!”

Back in a temporary tent, the commander’s face was still red in shame. It was a mistake on his part, but it wasn’t completely his fault. Amethyst Nightdemons were elusive beasts to begin with, and this one was also fused with a human! There were bound to be some differences between a real beast and a mutant. The commander quickly recovered and saw that Xiang Ning wasn’t in a good position.

The dust had cleared and he saw that the space was being filled up by other beasts and humans.

The domain of death that was caused by the voice of the Amethyst Nightdemon was indiscriminate, and killed both beasts and humans. Since there was an open space now, other beasts were pouring in to fill it up.

Xiang Ning’s body was caked in blood and mud. He even had some very deep wounds.

“Dammit! He’s going to die! The domain’s been broken. How can Xiang Ning fight in his condition?”

“If only it appeared earlier!”

Everyone was able to see that Xiang Ning had been weakened. Since he’d activated all eight gates, his organs had long been damaged. If he were to be sent into the hospital right now, not even the doctors would have any hope of bringing him back.

Just as the commander was thinking that, one of the mutants of the cult escaped from its battle and rushed toward Xiang Ning with a tier five martial artist chasing it down.

“Careful!” The tier five martial artist was fighting the mutant when it suddenly turned tail and ran. So this was the reason why!

As a mutant, it crossed the five-hundred-meter gap as if it was just a hundred meters. When the warning from the tier five martial artist reached Xiang Ning’s ear, the mutant had already swung its claw toward him! If the attack hit, he would be dead.

Just as everyone’s hopes were being dashed, Xiang Ning managed to twist his body and kick the mutant away. The mutant was taken by surprise and took a few steps back.

The tier five martial artist took the chance and stabbed toward the spine of the mutant with all his might. 

“Piercing Thrust!” His spear stabbed cleanly through the mutant’s back, instantly breaking the connection between its brain and body. There wasn’t even a death throe.

The martial artist didn’t stop, but rushed to the side of Xiang Ning. “Quick! I’ll stop him here while you run away!”

Xiang Ning was confused. He’d used Refresh so all of his injuries had disappeared; only some of the heavier injuries he had sustained from using Eight Gates were taking some time to heal. If it weren’t for that, he would have killed Obsession the moment he fell from the sky.

“I’m fine, you escape first. The Amethyst Nightdemon isn’t something you can handle.” Xiang Ning tried to pull the man aside.

But the man was too anxious. Xiang Ning had lightly tried to pull him, but he used his entire strength to push him away. Seeing how Xiang Ning was pushed away by him this easily, he immediately urged him to run away. “What do you mean you’re fine? You can’t even stand properly now! You have blood all over your body. Quickly run away!”

Xiang Ning was confused. What the hell is this guy thinking? I’m fine! I could kick a tier five mutant away!

“None of you will leave!” The Amethyst Nightdemon had recovered, but as it was still being affected by the speakers, its movement was sluggish. Xiang Ning was observing and anticipating its next move.

But the man was pointing his spear toward the mutant and dug in his heels before running toward it. Killing the mutant from before had given him a massive boost in confidence. He knew that damned bat wouldn’t be easy to kill, but since he didn’t feel the shadow of death it was still fine. The mutant was somewhat ugly, but it was still affected by the feedback loop so it couldn’t fight as well as it could before. Two against one was a good chance!

Naturally, that was only his assumption. When he charged forward, everyone else in the livestream was stunned. Who is he? Is he a tier six? We’ve never heard of him before!

Before he could even touch a single hair of the Amethyst Nightdemon, it flapped its wings and flew toward Zhao Zhongxian.

Xiang Ning gave chase without hesitation.

Shit! Am I that strong? The man was feeling conflicted. Did killing the mutant from before cause the Amethyst Nightshadow to fear me? 

No one cared about what he was thinking, but everyone realized that the mutant was flying toward Zhao Zhongxian.

“Shit! Run, man! Run!”

“He’s coming! I will block it for you!”

Zhao Zhongxian firmly planted his feet and refused to leave. Xiang Ning was close behind the mutant, so he had complete faith that he wouldn't be harmed. He was also confident in the feedback loop that was hindering the mutant.

He smashed the electronic board as close as he could toward the microphone when he saw the mutant coming close to him. The horrendous sound echoed everywhere and irritated everyone.

Xiang Ning had long anticipated that the mutant would target Zhao Zhongxian, so he wasn’t surprised. He opened six gates and increased his strength to tier five, eight-star. Against the tier five, two-star physical body of the Amethyst Nightdemon, it was more than enough.

He needed to protect Zhao Zhongxian and the PA system at all costs.

Just fifty meters away from Zhao Zhongxian, the mutant felt a prickling pain in his back but it was too late to dodge—one of its wings had been cut off.
