Chapter 34 A Soft Heart

Fang Rou was on the verge of tears. She had just returned from dinner! She shook Xiang Ning’s body, not knowing what to do. His hand lay on her chest, though right now she didn’t care.

Very soon, the staff of Thunder Dojo rushed over and lifted Xiang Ning up. Fang Rou clambered up and called Fang Hao.

Five minutes later, the 29th floor of Thunder Dojo.

Fang Hao solemnly looked at Xiang Ning, who was laying in the recovery capsule. After examination, he found that Xiang Ning would have died if they were just ten minutes later. What had caused Xiang Ning’s severe injuries? Why did he appear in front of his dojo?

He looked at Fang Rou, whose brows were tightly knitted. Fang Hao saw something, then asked, “Hey sis, are you sure you didn’t hire someone to beat him up?”

Fang Rou had just been thinking about why Xiang Ning would be this injured, then fall on top of her, when she heard his strange question.

“Why would I do that?” she rolled her eyes.

Fang Hao pointed at her chest. She looked down.

Fury Points +66

There was a dried bloody handprint.

Fang Rou turned redder than an entire field of tomato plants.

Slap!

Fang Hao was dumbstruck. I didn’t touch you, what’d you slap me for?

An hour later, Xiang Ning’s eyes sprang open and the first thing he saw was a white ceiling. All he felt was his body aching all over, so he propped himself up and surveyed his surroundings.

Where am I? Wasn’t I in the mines, fighting the spider? The next moment, Xiang Ning couldn’t help but gasp. He found that he had more than six thousand Fury Points and was now a tier one, seven-star martial artist!

What had happened while he was unconscious?

While he mulled it over, the door opened and a figure entered the room. “Mm, you’re awake?”

“Where am I?” he asked when he recognized Fang Rou. This was strange—Fang Rou didn’t rescue him from the mines, did she? That wouldn’t make sense; she didn’t even know where his house was, how would she know about the cave?

“This is the medical bay of the dojo.” Fang Rou closed the door, and then sat on a stool.

“I need to ask you a question,” he solemnly said.

“What is it?” Fang Rou cocked an eyebrow, wondering what he was trying to pull.

“Does your family own a mine?”

“What? My family owns a dojo.” Fang Rou paused. What kind of question was that?

Xiang Ning was in disbelief. So just who was it that had rescued him? What happened to the Tyrant Spider and the cave?

“Why don’t you explain why you suddenly appeared on my… on the doorstep of my family’s dojo?” Fang Rou eyed him in confusion. Things were getting stranger by the second.

“Would you believe me if I said I didn’t know?” He awkwardly scratched his head. He truly didn’t know how he had ended up here.

“Fine, it’s fine if you don’t tell me. Your clothes were all drenched in blood, so I got someone to get you new ones. Your wounds have mostly recovered, too, but you still have some internal injuries. Be careful, I’ll be heading off,” Fang Rou said as she got up to leave.

“Thank you.”

Fang Rou stopped. “It’s fine.”

After she left, he tried hard to recall what had happened, but still didn’t know how he ended up here. He decided not to think about it anymore,

3000 Fury Points Spent.

Mental Power: 100 [+] (tier one, one-star spiritual cultivator)

Xiang Ning felt his thought processes grow much smoother, generating faint energy waves as his mind worked.

500 Fury Points Spent

Telekinesis (Beginner)

Xiang Ning suddenly felt his mental energy solidify. He looked at the cup of water next to him, focused, and the cup slowly levitated. He felt like he still had more mental capacity and the pitcher next to the cup soon floated as well. At that point, he felt like he had reached his limit. He was overjoyed at the improvement.

There were more than a thousand Fury Points left. Still feeling unwell, he entered the raffle and won two small pills.

Xiang Ning swallowed the pills, which were immediately effective, instantly lifting his spirits. At least he could now walk without a problem. He took a look at the time. He’d promised Xiang Xiaoyu a feast! He couldn’t stay at the dojo any longer, and since not even Fang Rou could explain today’s events, there was no need to ask any more questions.

He thanked his savior in his heart, then got up to leave the Thunder Dojo. No one stopped him, so he left the place and got on the train, unaware of the two pairs of eyes on him.

“Fang Hao, did you find anything? How’d he suddenly appear?”

“I checked the security footage. The strange thing is that the camera blacked out for just one second. Perhaps that was when it happened?” Fang Hao guessed.

“This is no ordinary event, there was possibly a powerful person involved. Xiang Ning isn’t as simple as we think. If there really was a powerful cultivator involved, it’s best we don’t investigate too deeply,” Fang Hao said as he wistfully stared down the street.

On the other end, the door was unlocked when Xiang Ning arrived. That meant Xiang Xiaoyu was already home.

Pushing open the door, he found her watching a livestream on the television.

“Eh? You changed your clothes?” Xiang Xiaoyu was confused. Those weren’t her brother’s clothes.

“Oh I was at a friend’s place. I dirtied my clothes so he lent me his.” Xiang Ning didn’t tell her the truth out of fear that she would worry.

Xiang Xiaoyu believed him and beckoned him over.

“Try this on, see if it fits.” Xiang Xiaoyu took out a bag with a grin, it contained a set of clothing.

Xiang Ning cocked an eyebrow, to which she hurriedly replied, “Your clothes are yellowing with age, so I wanted to get you new ones.” Though it was bought with Xiang Ning’s money, that didn’t matter. If her brother didn’t want to spend money on himself, she would!

He suddenly pulled her into a tight hug, stunning her. “What’s the matter?”

She felt her shoulder dampen. Her big brother… was crying?

“Are you alright?”

He shook his head with a smile. “Nothing, I’m just touched.”

How would Xiang Xiaoyu have known that she had almost lost her brother today? Xiang Ning swore to never put himself in mortal danger again. And the only solution was to become stronger!
