Chapter 310 Be Prepared

Just when the fight was about to escalate to a whole new level, Lei Zhongyuan and the Karan tribe’s accompanying officer arrived on scene. No one dared cause trouble with two tier six masters present. Lu Shiyu immediately slung her rifle, though she glared at them with contempt before turning around. If Xiang Ning were there, that guy would be lying on the ground right now.

“Hehe, no wonder! So they’re your students, Akting.”

Akting, a tier six master of the Karan tribe, was as strong in combat as a tier seven martial artist. He used to be in the same battalion as Lei Zhongyuan. Akting was a truly impressive fighter who could even turn a disadvantageous situation around alone. That was why Lei Zhongyuan had remained in his shadow during their military career.

“Wow, is that Lei Zhongyuan? So that’s why the kid had a familiar scent.”

Although the presence of both officers successfully de-escalated a likely fight, everyone could practically feel the edge in their words like blades on their skin.

“I’m sorry, Instructor Akting.” Charotis clenched his fist, looking at Akting. He felt utterly humiliated. Although he knew Akting hadn’t arrived because he saw the gun pointing at his head, his timing made it look like he was being rescued. He couldn’t take it. He once said that if he died, he must die standing. He was a prideful man.

“We must all learn to be gracious people. They were kind enough to help you out, how could you be ungrateful?” Akting smiled.

Charotis froze for a moment, then looked at Akting’s smile, had a realization, and smiled. “Yeah, we must be grateful!” Poison dripped from his every word.

Lei Zhongyuan frowned. “Are you sure you want to fight over this?”

“Hey, only if you put it that way. Lei Zhongyuan, weren’t you great in the military? I don’t see anything wrong with your students learning from you, right? They’re learning from you!” Akting remembered the pain from one fateful day.

“Of course they must learn from me, or being single just feels awful, doesn’t it? You, on the other hand, have to deal with your own loneliness with your own hands. You haven’t passed all these years that way, have you?” Lei Zhongyuan chuckled.

Li Zimo and the rest realized that the conversation was going in the wrong direction. The gossip was surprising at every turn.

“Hahaha! Good, very good! Lei Zhongyuan, after all these years, your capabilities haven’t improved but you’re bolder than ever! We’ll see what you’ve got when the time comes!” Akting and Lei Zhongyuan had both received another warning from the commander that if the conflict still wasn’t resolved, their teams would be disqualified. It wasn’t worth it.

Watching them leave, Lei Zhongyuan pursed his lips and faced the group. “Go back and rest, prepare for the next battle. If you see them again, remember to help them more! They’ll be exhausted if they kill too many beasts. It’s only right if you help them get more rest, right?”

No one knew what to say.

While they were resting, they received news that one point earned from killing beasts was the equivalent of a million dollars. Ten tier two beasts made one point, three tier three beasts made one point, and one tier four Beast General could range from one to five points. If it was a rarer type, it could even be up to ten points. After calculating, they found that the beasts they killed were worth six million, three hundred and ten thousand dollars, or six points. It was divided across both teams, so each team received three points.

Their current ranks were thirty-first and thirty-second—almost the bottom of the list.

During their second battle, perhaps due to coincidence or something else, they encountered Toro City’s squad once more. “Hey, let me see… It’s number thirty-one and thirty-two! That’s not a bad rank at all, all the best!”

Toro City had ten people split into two teams but only one leader, Charotis. They were currently ranked third, with forty-one points, and fourth, with thirty-nine points.

As they watched the Toro City participants leave, the temporary team leader, Lu Shiyu, said, “There’s two methods to quickly earn points. One, we can complete the rescue mission and immediately earn a hundred points. Two, we target Beast Generals. Although that isn’t as dangerous as the rescue mission, it’s still very risky.”

“We can try the rescue mission. We’re not too far away and there are no Beast Kings near that area. Due to the railway’s own defenses, there’s fewer beasts there. We can kill some along the way, too. If we find anything amiss, we’ll return immediately.”

“Mm, I agree.”

“We agree too.”

Seeing as everyone agreed, the decision was made.

The next two hours weren’t very smooth. They had underestimated the density of the beasts, encountering one almost every ten steps. They weren’t ordinary beasts, either, but the more aggressive types like wolf, lizard, spider, snake, and leopard types.

To their exasperation, the Toro City squad had the same objective. When they encountered Beast Generals in the beginning, they would wait until the beast was dying to steal it, but later, the moment they met the beast, they would charge forward like mad dogs.

If Lu Shiyu didn’t hold Wu Rui back, he would have beaten them up already.

In the end, the reason why they had to turn around was a tier five rhinoceros-type beast called an Iron Tank. Not even the crazy Toro City members dared challenge a beast like that. But for some reason, the Iron Tank seemed to have gone mad and even started pursuing Wu Rui and the rest.

Liu Ruoxue, being a spiritual cultivator, couldn’t dodge in time. Fang Rou, while saving Liu Ruoxue, was hit by the Iron Tank. If it weren’t for Wu Rui defending them to his maximum and Lei Zhongyuan’s timely arrival, not just Fang Rou, even Wu Rui would have died there.

After returning to the fortress, Wu Rui stomped his foot into the ground, roaring in anger, “Those bastards! I swear they must’ve done something, or why would the Iron Tank chase us?!”

The rest of them frowned without a word, but the silence in the air said enough.

“Fuck this! How do I explain this to Xiang Ning?!” Seeing as no one spoke, Wu Rui slumped into a chair, clutching his head.

“Don’t worry, we’ve already sent Fang Rou into a recovery capsule. Her injuries aren’t too severe, she should recover in five hours,” comforted Lei Zhongyuan. To be honest, any injury that required being in a recovery cabin for five hours was quite severe.

It was already four in the morning. They didn’t have five hours—Xiang Ning should be arriving in two or three. How were they going to face him? Even Xiang Xiaoyu was silent. She hadn’t seen him mad, but based on how much he cared about Fang Rou….

“Oh? Did one of your members get hurt? That’s such a pity.”

“You’d better be prepared.” Lei Zhongyuan wasn’t in the mood to chat.

Akting was left confused.

MC is coming. Prepare yourselves!
