Chapter 153 Glory To Mankind, Victory To The Federation

“Wow!”

“He’s a spiritual cultivator!”

“There’s so many Hunter Mk. 4 flying knives! Who is he?”

While they wondered, the blades slaughtered every beast they encountered like Death’s scythe. These blades were made to pierce through the defenses of a Beast General, so killing these Beast Soldier-level animals was as easy as chopping vegetables.

The crowd was stunned. Every blade took a life in just one move.

“The control and power he has over them is terrifying. Could he be a tier four or five spiritual cultivator?”

Even Wu Rui was stunned. Who was he? Why did this feel so familiar? But he was so sure he had never met this person before!

However, Second Uncle Wu, who had more than ten years of experience in battle, was used to surprises. Naturally, he reacted the quickest, and when he saw everyone frozen in place, he cried, “What’re you idiots doing? Retreat now!”

The crowd instantly sprang into action, pouring back into the fortress.

“Hey, why’re you here, kid? Didn’t I ask you to wait for me in the fortress?” As a tier four master, Second Uncle Wu was planning to help the mysterious savior, but when he saw Wu Rui, he immediately grabbed him and ran back inside.

Wu Rui was still staring at the man that was surrounded by flying blades.

That man was Xiang Ning, or at least what he looked like after activating the Disguise skill so no one would discover his secret. Truth be told, he was in a great dilemma. Should he intervene? He was still not capable enough to quickly clear all of the beasts. But the tens of thousands of rats were a good source of Fury Points.

After some thought, he decided to make a grand entrance. When he arrived at the iron fortress, he tapped a random person and disguised himself as the stranger, then immediately charged into battle to kill all the beasts that were stopping the humans from retreating.

In the end, all that was left was one man standing amidst a sea of beast carcasses as he watched the swarm of rats approaching.

They would arrive in thirty seconds.

Within the fortress, someone had already noticed and reported the situation.

“Colonel Li, we found an approaching swarm of Savage Sand Rats to the south of the fortress, estimated to consist of twelve thousand of them. There’s still more than two hundred martial artists stuck in battle outside the fortress. We sent out the instruction to retreat but they’re being blocked by other beasts!”

“What?! Use the available firepower in the fortress to attack the rats!” Li Kaihao immediately commanded. If more than two hundred martial artists died today, who would hold the fortress? There were only a thousand people there, they couldn’t afford such a huge loss!

“But Colonel Li, the stocks within the fortress will run out soon!” The ammo was the last line of defense for their fortress.

“Just do it! Now!” Li Kaihao almost gave the messenger a kick. The alternative would be sacrificing two hundred martial artists. Would he do that? Of course not!

In the face of the approaching Savage Sand Rats, Xiang Ning proudly stood. Soon, they would be within range. He was thinking of a war cry that he could use together with his Taunt skill. He couldn’t use an ugly insult everytime he fought the beasts, could he? Low-level beasts didn’t understand human language anyway. Even without Taunt, they turned irritable and angry when they encountered humans, thus earning him Fury Points. So instead of cussing the beasts out, he might as well use a good war cry to improve his impression among humans.

“Alright, that’ll work!”

News spread in just a few seconds within the fortress.

“What the hell? What’s he doing? Why isn’t he running? Is he dumb?”

“Hey, what’re you talking about? I would’ve died there if it wasn’t for him!”

“But what’s he going to do? The rats are too quick and he’s a spiritual cultivator! He won’t be quick enough to outrun the damn rats!”

“Wait, what’re you doing? Are you mad? If you go out there, you’ll die!”

“He saved all of us, are you going to watch him die?”

Hopelessness hung thick in the air. Even Wu Rui felt the stark difference between the excitement when they had arrived and their current hopeless frustration.

Just as the crowd thought the man standing in the sea of carcasses would die.…

“Glory to mankind, victory to the Federation!” After much thought, that was the best that Xiang Ning could come up with. He was thankful for everything the Federation had provided him. It sounded right.

The crowd felt their hearts thumping in their chest when they heard his war cry, blood coursing through their veins as their minds raced

“Glory to mankind… victory to the Federation.” They thought about their comrades and their families. Ever since the Great Disaster, humans had had a tough time surviving and almost went extinct.

The man must be prepared for death to have said such a thing.

The world has heard his cry of sorrow because the fortress seemed to wake up. A Thor Mk. 3 Rail Cannon was fired and the Savage Sand Rats less than a hundred meters away from Xiang Ning were instantly vaporized; more than a thousand rats had died in a second.

Xiang Ning was planning to turn and run as well. As a tier two, four-star martial artist, he could run faster than other spiritual cultivators. But unexpectedly, the shockwaves from the rail cannon blasted him to the ground.

“What the hell? Couldn’t you fire after I run? Didn’t you see me here?” cussed Xiang Ning as he activated Disguise and disappeared within the flying ash and dust. The crowd saw him completely disappear.

They froze, stunned. A group of spiritual cultivators holding hot weapons and clad in common armor rushed out, one of them carrying a Prometheus Gatling Gun that could fire five thousand rounds per minute, the true defensive power of the fortress.

“Move, you brainless brutes, let us show you what a spiritual cultivator can do!”

The thirty people poured out of the tunnel, mounted the hot weapon, and formed a net of bullets that combined with the firepower from the fortress.

Snakes of fire were fired at the swarm, causing rat carcasses to tumble across the earth like dominoes.

One minute later, the swarm of ten thousand Savage Sand Rats had been annihilated, while the smoking gun barrel glowed red.

“Done!” The team leader issued a command and the team of more than thirty people started retreating back into the tunnel. They didn’t notice another person subtly approaching and joining the group.

ok i've got to admit the war cry/slogan is pretty powerful? haha -doge
