Chapter 128 End

Xiang Ning was still feeling guilty for earning Fury Points from them, then traumatizing the crowd, but now, he had become a target to be hunted. That wasn’t just by seventy people either, Third School’s upper-first year itself had more than a thousand students. Who could hold up against such a crowd?! Imagining a pack of eager students targeting him next year was enough to give him goosebumps.

Zhang Tianying was satisfied with the answer, the corner of his lips curving slightly. So what if they lost? These students were very young. Although today was the most humiliating day in Third School’s history, Zhang Tianying believed that these students would be transformed in a year’s time.

Every person knew what Zhang Tianying was doing when they saw how he had lit a fire in the students’ eyes. He was losing a battle to win the war. They knew that such a spirit was difficult to instill in students. While cultivation required talent, it also required hard work. Inner determination and discipline could propel them far ahead in their journey.

Now, Ding Maoxiong no longer had the impulse to beat Xiang Ning up; he only wanted to profusely thank him. Just look at these kids! Look at how determined they are! However, was Xiang Ning a person to let a man use him as a pawn?

Obviously not. Xiang Ning suddenly collapsed.  He had initially been using his qi to forcefully stop the blood flow in his arm, but the wound suddenly burst open, spewing fresh blood. His face instantly turned as pale as a ghost.

The crowd gasped.

Alarmed, Fang Rou rushed forward and held his shoulder, asking in a panic, “Xiang Ning, are you alright? Don’t you scare me.”

Everyone was stunned, including Zhang Tianying and the livestream audience.

“Was Xiang Ning’s impressive performance just a dying swan song? Was he only forcefully using the last of his strength?”

“I think so. His opponents were elite students, and he even fought five tier two martial artists!”

“Like I said, it’s impossible for Xiang Ning to be so strong. If he really could fight ten people, I’d think he was half beast.”

“Yeah, when they admitted defeat, Xiang Ning’s adrenaline must’ve finally worn off, causing all of his injuries to hit him all at once.”

Everyone took the same stance.

Zhang Tianying immediately sent for a magnetic levitating stretcher and personally lifted Xiang Ning up on it. Then, as he watched them leave, he turned to Fang Rou and the rest and said, “Don’t worry, as promised, the recovery capsule will be opened for Xiang Ning. He’ll be healed.”

How was Xiang Ning doing? He was reveling in his own intelligence the moment he hit the stretcher. Finally, some recovery fluid! The sheer power stored in the essence extracted from King Beasts had never left his dreams.

An hour later, Zhang Tianying was standing outside the quarantine room with a stony expression. He watched the teenager floating in the recovery capsule through the glass.

“S-sir… the eighth administration of recovery fluid has been… completely absorbed, but he still hasn’t recovered.”

The headmaster’s face darkened, but he nodded and ordered, “Proceed with another.” What the hell? What was this kid made of? A normal person would heal in just one or two administrations of the recovery fluid, but Xiang Ning had already absorbed eight portions! That was worth two million and four hundred thousand dollars! His heart was bleeding. Xiang Ning naturally knew the value of this fluid, and he refused to be a pawn without gaining anything. You’re the one who got your students all riled up to kill me... I’ve got to be paid for this job, don’t I?

Thus, he was ecstatic as he watched his experience points slowly rise.

Level: Tier two, four-star martial artist (210/9000)

Xiang Ning had officially stepped into mid-stage tier two, which meant he now stood a chance if he were to go to the wilderness. He wanted to absorb more recovery fluid, since it was a rare opportunity as it was so expensive. But after some thought, he recalled how Lei Zhongyuan and Dong Qianyi had almost kidnapped him for scientific research in Qiling Academy and changed his mind. He was only a quarter satisfied right now.

“Headmaster Zhang, he’s finally healed,” a researcher drenched in sweat reported. If it wasn’t for the fact that there were other patients using the same batch of recovery fluid, they would have suspected the authenticity of the product.

“Alright, quickly wrap it up and kick him out of the school!” Zhang Tianying was in a terrible mood. Ten drops of recovery fluid! Out of his pocket! As he thought about the amount of cultivation resources wagered, his chest tightened.

Xiang Ning had only just put on his clothes when two teachers entered the room and politely asked him to leave the school grounds. Along the way to the gates, the students greeted him with extremely hostile glares. He scratched his nose, wondering if he should activate Taunt again to earn more Fury Points to make up to a hundred thousand in total. But when he looked at the two hostile-looking teachers, he dismissed the thought.

When he stepped out of the school gates, Fang Rou and the rest surrounded him, especially Fang Rou who rushed over and touched him all over. Li Zimo and the rest turned their heads away, privately wondering what relationship the two had. Were they a couple? But their interactions had been platonic so far, and even their conversations were normal. But why did something about the two feel more than platonic?

Xiang Ning obediently stood for her inspection. He couldn’t put a finger on his feelings, though there was mostly joy, happy that there were people who cared for him aside from his sister. However, he had truly recovered after his treatment in the recovery capsule. He reached over to grab the hand inspecting him, then pinched her. “I’m fine, I’m fine. Headmaster Zhang is a man of his word.”

Fang Rou ignored his pinch, feeling as if a weight had lifted off her chest. She softly said, “Don’t do anything this dangerous again.”

Thus, the incident officially ended. The entire group, including Li Minghao and Zhang Cheng, returned with puffed chests and heads held high. They also didn’t hate Xiang Ning as much anymore.

When they returned, they were carried by a welcoming crowd, especially people from the special training. The faces that greeted them were all smiles. Especially Zhang Tao. The moment he saw Zhang Cheng return, he immediately rushed over with concerned questions, making Zhang Cheng uncomfortable. Zhang Cheng suddenly understood why after Zhang Tao’s next question.

“So now that Qiling Academy won, how many resources did we win, exactly?” asked Zhang Tao with shining eyes.

Zhang Cheng instantly felt uncomfortable. Brows furrowed, he said, “First, let me tell you this: none of you have any part in the resources we won. So move along and carry on with your lives.”

That’s right, the resources they won from Third School would be divided equally among the ten people. While they were on the way back to Qiling Academy, Xiang Ning had straightened this out with his teammates. Initially, they even felt guilty since Xiang Ning was the only one who had fought, and he’d even sustained severe injuries.

But Xiang Ning didn’t covet cultivation resources, or at least he didn’t storm the school for those resources. That was why he didn’t care how the spoils were divided; he just wanted to see how many people would come with him. And to quote him, the rest were a bunch of weaklings that had no right to a share of their bounty.
