Chapter 57

K-City's Lunar New Year's 1st Day is basically the day that everyone visits relatives and friends. This city is not very big. It is normal practice for families, friends, neighbors, business associates and even teachers and students to visit one another.

On the 1st day of the Lunar New Year morning, Jiang Li and I visited several teachers in their homes bearing gifts and also paid visits to elderly friends of Jiang Li's parents and then visited the neighbors. In the afternoon, we visited his relatives and I was extremely tired. Fortunately, his family did not have a lot of relatives otherwise dinner would have to be delayed.

However, this trip that I made was actually fruitful because I found out from Jiang Li's teacher some surprising information......... Han Xiao and Jiang Li had studied in the same high school and were also classmates! No wonder these two were such good friends, but.......

Forgive me for my impure thoughts but when I thought of Han Xiao's shy smile, I also thought of Jiang Li and him, that they could not be having any ............right?

This thought made me restless. Several times, I had wanted to ask Jiang Li but felt that I was meddling in his affairs. Whoever that he likes or have affairs with, basically has nothing to do with me.........

So I kept my mouth shut.

Jiang Li was able to see through me and he said. "Guan Xiao Yan, if you have anything to say, say it straight."

I looked away from his eyes and casually asked. "That......I am a little curious, you and Han Xiao.......*he,he,he*....."

He suddenly pulled a long face. "Guan Xiao Yan, do not force me."

I gave a slight shiver and dared not ask again.

Ah....but I am only curious and not forcing you......

Tomorrow is the 2nd day of the Lunar New Year and I will be going to my mother's home. At night while I was busy packing up my things, suddenly I received an international long distance call. I felt surprised that some foreign deity was missing me and was getting in touch with me on the 1st day of the Lunar. But when I picked up the call and heard my mother's happy voice over the phone, I almost thought it was an illusion.

I held my phone tightly, wiped my sweat and with an apprehensive tone greeted her 'Mother'.

I heard my mother's excited voice talking very fast. "Girl, your mother is now standing below Ai Feifei steel tower, calling you. This tower is really beautiful!"

I was confused. "Ai.......Fei, Ai Fei, what is that? Where are you now?"

My mother said with disdain. "Ai Feifei is the world-famous tower, the one in France, Paris. Girl, you have not seen the world......you don't even know Ai Feifei?"

I sweated. That was Eiffel Tower......

It turned out that the old lady had gone to Paris. It was only the day before yesterday that I had called her and she was complaining that she was bored being at home alone. Sometimes my mother's actions were beyond my acceptance ability. I did not know whether it was because she was proactive or my nerves too fragile. I was downcast and asked. "My dear mother, why did you go to Paris without letting me know? Wait a minute........who are you talking to?"

My mother coughed twice and said gravely. "No.....no one......."

"Mom, be honest. I came out from your tummy."

I pulled my wits together and finally realized my mother's recent mystery was because of....... In simple terms, this old lady was having a second spring*...... (Falling in love the second time)

I held the phone and laughed for a long time. While laughing, I asked. "Mom, how did you seduce that uncle?"

My mother proudly replied. "He often secretly look at me when I do my exercise in the morning. Although your mother is old but my charms have not diminished and still comparable to when I was young......."

I coughed a bit and interrupted her. "Mom, why didn't you tell me about the good news?"

My mother said with embarrassment. "I am afraid that you will not agree."

I became angry. "Is your daughter that narrow-minded?"

My mother replied honestly. "Of course not........*ha, ha, ha*....."

I asked. "What does the uncle work as? Do you both speak a common language?"

My mother: "He is a professor in the University of Languages, Department of Chinese Language."

Me: "....."

Mother, do you know the thing I fear most is languages........ (>_
