Later, she had asked Uncle Fu to buy rat poisons and rat traps to catch the rats. In the end, they did not catch any of them. Ever since then, she never heard of the rats appearing inside the house.

If so, where was the rat which Mother had seen gone to? Had the rat escaped after being scared off by Mother, or could the rat have never existed before?

When Zhao Youxi went upstairs, Li Hongyu's room was pitch black, as if she was hiding something from her.

At that time, it was only 7 o'clock and it was still early, yet, her mother told her that she had woken up from her sleep as soon as she heard the movement. So, she simply flung the mobile phone out before she could turn on the light...

Lights off, mouse, mobile phone and later, her mother stopped her in a panic from visiting Mu Tingfeng in the hospital who had been wounded because of Zhao Youlin....

All the things which she had not noticed previously had become much more clearer to her at that moment. As such, Zhao Youxi grew increasingly panicked as she thought of it.

She had been in a daze for a long while. Only then did she recover her senses, and realized it was not the right moment to think about all this. Her top priority was to find ways to rescue her mother.

Her face looked ghastly pale. She helped herself up from the floor shakily. For a moment, Zhao Youxi felt like she had lost her direction to move forward.

The police officers had mentioned that they had witnesses and evidence on hand. Once her mother was in, could her mother still walk out of it? Who else could she seek help from? Who had such a capability to help her out?

"Father! My father must have a way to save Mother!" Zhao Youlin murmured to herself. Finally, she seemed to have found a pillar of strength. She was so excited that she turned around and was about to rush out. Suddenly, she heard the sound of a car honk coming from outside.

'Has Dad came home?' Zhao Youlin became spirited. She sped up and ran out to the main entrance, only to see an unexpected person coming out of a car parked outside the door.

"Youming?! How come it's you? When did you come back? I thought you would be back after a few days?" Zhao Youxi was so shocked to see the handsome young man who was approaching her.

He was about the same age as Zhao Youxi. But, he was a head taller than her. He had inherited all the beautiful features from Zhao Shuncheng and his good looks from Li Hongyu. He appeared gentle, yet manly. He looked handsome as well as elegant. He was a handsome young man who could easily make many people fall for him.

Youming was smiling gently as he spread out his hands to give a hug to his elder sister. "Originally, I planned to come back after three days. In the end, I couldn't resist buying a ticket dated earlier so that I could give a surprise to you guys. How is it? Don't you feel happy to see me? Why are you the only one out? Where are Father and Mother?"

Looking at her younger brother who kept searching for her parents behind her, Zhao Youxi looked bitter. Her younger brother had abruptly returned home earlier from overseas. In usual days, his action would have given them a genuine surprise. But, now...

"Mother… Mother has just been taken away by the police officers. Sobs…" Zhao Youxi used to rely on others. This was her first time to experience this.

The moment Li Hongyu had been arrested, she felt that she had lost her pillar of strength. This was especially so when there were no closed ones around her whom she could count on. Her worries and fears came to her at once. She completely broke down when she finally saw her younger brother.

"Sis, don't cry. What did you say just now? Mother has been arrested by the police officers? What happened? Were you referring to the police cars that just only left? Why did the police officers take Mother away all of a sudden? What happened?"

Zhao Youming helped to carry Zhao Youxi who was crying non-stop. He frowned discreetly.

Zhao Youlin sniffed. She briefly told everything that had happened just now to Zhao Youming.

Upon hearing Zhao Youxi's words, Zhao Youming remained silent for a long time before he quietly blurted out, "Sis, what you meant was Mother hired a contract killer to murder someone, and that someone was my other elder sister?"

"That wench is not your elder sister! I am your elder sister! That wench was already adopted by Uncle. She has gained Uncle and Grandpa's backing. Ever since she became the general manager of the Zhao Enterprise, she kept causing us trouble. That wench… should have gone to h.e.l.l!"

When Zhao Youming saw Zhao Youxi's twisted face, he raised one of his eyebrows. The so-called elder sister who had been oppressed by his mother and elder sister ever since young had piqued his interest.

It had not been long since they last met each other. The person had since become so strong to the point of even winning over Uncle and Grandpa's hearts, as well as holding the position as the general manager in Zhao Enterprise. No wonder his mother had called him back so urgently at that moment. However...

"Sis, why did Mother want to kill Zhao Youlin all of a sudden?"

Zhao Youxi was stunned. She kept her own guess to herself. But, she was afraid of spilling it out. She deliberately avoided his question, and said, "Perhaps… Perhaps, Zhao Youlin has gone overboard of late. Zhao Youming nodded. "So, have you come up with any solutions?"

"I'm going to look for Father. Come with me." As Zhao Youxi was speaking, she pulled Zhao Youming to go out with her.

"Sis, wait." Zhao Youming pulled Zhao Youxi's hand instead and said in a low voice, "Sis, I just got off the plane and rushed my way home. So, I really feel…"

Zhao Youlin froze. She turned her head around and saw Zhao Youming's tired face. She was deep in thought for a brief moment before she heaved a sigh and said, "Alright, then. You look tired. Go home and take a rest first. I… I'll look for father on my own."

"Okay, Sis, be careful. Give me a call if anything happens."

"Okay." Zhao Youxi did not grow suspicious of him. She called a cab and immediately rushed over to Zhao Shuncheng's office.

Once Zhao Youxi left, Zhao Youming immediately schooled his face into a cold expression. He turned around and looked at Uncle Fu who was standing at the side. He said in a low voice, "Tell me everything that you know. Don't hide anything from me."

Uncle Fu was shocked to see Zhao Youming's sudden change of att.i.tude. He hurriedly nodded his head.

The reporters guarding outside the Zhao family's house were originally getting ready to surround Zhao Youxi. However, when they discovered something more sensational, all of them ran after the police cars, which had given convenience to Zhao Youxi.

Inside the car, Zhao Youxi had called Zhao Shuncheng several times, but he did not pick up her call. She had no choice but to call Zhao Shuncheng's secretary, only to learn that Zhao Shuncheng had long left the company.

After pestering his secretary using various tricks for some time, the secretary finally gave her a location. A location where Zhao Shuncheng might be.

Zhao Youxi had no other option but to ask the driver to change his direction and tried her luck.

Zhao Youxi was afraid that people might recognize her. So, she heeded the secretary's advice and snuck into the high-cla.s.s apartment. She pressed the doorbell.

Soon, the sound of footsteps was heard from inside. The moment the door was open, a person whom Zhao Youxi was very familiar with appeared.
