Ye Yan was snapped out of his daze. He was shocked to realize he had asked her many questions all of a sudden. He hurriedly explained, "I'm sorry, I don't mean it."

"It's okay." Su He shook her head nonchalantly. The adorable and warm smile remained on her cute face. Beneath the table, her hands were actually lacing each other so tightly upon hearing Ye Yan's words.

Ye Yan was a little panicked for losing his composure. He did not realize that the moment he looked away out of guilt, Su He pursed her lips, and added, "Met each other before? Who knows?"

"What did you say?" Ye Yan looked up at Su He in puzzlement. He asked faintly.

"Nothing.. Dishes have been served. Let's eat. Mr. Ye, didn't you say you still have something to handle later?" Su He smiled faintly and switched the topic.

Upon her reminder, Ye Yan remembered the excuse he had made up just to leave the place before. He choked up and did not speak further. He ate his meal with his chopsticks. While eating, he was figuring out how to handle the certain one who had set him up.

On the other hand, Ling Ran had no idea that his good intentions had instead pushed his best buddy into a fire pit. After he fled from the restaurant, he felt relieved. He even felt the air was fresher than before.

While he was strolling leisurely on the street, thinking if he should grab something to eat, or to look for a hideout, and checked out on the situation between Ye Yan and his dream girl.

The second young master of the Ling family was so absorbed in his thought that he did not notice a person carrying a plastic bag was walking out from a restaurant at that moment.

A dull thud was heard. The two pathetic people crashed into each other and let out a cry at the same time. The bag in the certain one's hand was flung out a few steps away from her.

The milk tea inside the bag dropped out of the bag. Its lid was separated from its bottle, and the liquid spilled all over the floor. Meanwhile, the other two burgers rolled to the middle of the road.

Just then, a car drove by, and its wheels ran over the burgers. The round hamburgers instantly became two black… and flattened meat pies.

The sound of wind was heard. A gust of cold wind blew past. The sagging leaves on the ground were blown.

Li fell to the ground, and she looked wide-eyed at her beloved crushed hamburgers before her. Her face darkened. The next moment, she broke out in tears, "Sobs… My hamburgers…"

Ling Ran squatted and was about to help the certain one up, feeling speechless.

Li used one of her hands to cover her chest and stretched out the other hand toward the flattened hamburgers. Her eyes were filled with tears as if she had wished to die along with the two hamburgers.

Seeing this, Ling Ran's eyebrows unwittingly twitched. He faked a cough to draw back her attention, and said, "Miss, you could stand up first. It's only two hamburgers, do you have to… become like this?"

Right after Ling Ran spoke, Li, who had fallen and sat on the ground after cras.h.i.+ng with him, narrowed her eyes. She quickly got up from the ground. She widened her big, round eyes, and glared at Ling Ran fiercely.

"What do you mean by only two hamburgers?! It took me some time before I decided to buy two! Usually, I only buy one, only one!" Speaking of this, Li's eyes were welled up in tears again.

Ling Ran said, "So, the focus is not on the hamburger, but it's about... two hamburgers, right?"

Li forced herself to hold back her tears. She sucked in a deep breath and jerked one step forward. She pointed at Ling Ran's nose and said with murderous intent, "What's wrong with hamburgers? Who are you to look down on hamburgers? Who are you to look down on them?!"

"I-I…" Ling Ran was stunned at Li's sudden rebuke. He opened his mouth and was about to defend himself. However, the certain one did not grant him such an opportunity.

"Do you know that there are many people in this world who have to worry about if they have food for themselves?! Do you know that there are people who have to work very hard just to fill up their tummies?! Do you know how many calories are in one hamburger? There are almost 600 calories in it! Two hamburgers mean there are 1,200 calories in them. A person uses up about 1,500 calories per day. In other words, the two hamburgers could be an adult's one-day meal. You b.u.mped into me and resulted in me throwing my hamburgers away. I don't mind the fact that you didn't apologize to me. But, how dare you pay no respect to my beloved hamburgers so shamelessly?! That's simply unforgivable!"

Ling Ran was so shocked that he kept retreating as he was rebuked by Li. The corners of his lips twitched. He did not understand why the person had overreacted over two hamburgers. He really could not understand the reason why. Could the la.s.s cause someone to be killed just because of the hamburgers?

Unbeknownst to Ling Ran, there was a creature in this world called "glutton". Their only belief was to become a glutton who could savor all the good food on Earth.

Tasting good food was the only thing they were after in this world. Tasting good food was their pillar of strength. When someone disrespected the food before a glutton, it was equivalent to doubting their belief. Therefore, they could not tolerate this.

After Li finished cussing him, she still had not had enough of it. She gasped for some air for a while. Then, she looked up, and under Ling Ran's panic gaze, she continued, "You there…! While well-dressed people like you are enjoying your meals inside restaurants, the others are starving; while you throw away the untouched leftover dishes into the dustbin, they are starving; while you're spending your money like water, just to show off how filthy rich you are, they are starving. Why do monsters in human's skin and sc.u.m like you even exist in this world?!"

Ling Ran felt like he had been stabbed twice out of nowhere. Needless to say how bitter he felt just then. He nearly fainted for being wrongly accused in broad daylight!

Ling Ran sucked in a few deep breaths. He slowly recovered his senses. He looked stiffly and grabbed Li's finger that was pointing at him. He forced a smile on his face, and said, "Miss, I'm sorry for accidentally b.u.mping into you. I'm deeply sorry for causing you to fling your lunch away. How about this, I'll accompany you to the restaurant, and compensate you with the same set of meals? What do you think?"

After Ling Ran finished speaking, Li's anger subsided. She sized Ling Ran up with her big eyes. Then, she pushed the black-rimmed gla.s.ses up her bridge and blurted out words that nearly caused Ling Ran to faint.

"Uncle, I won't accept your invitation!"
