Xun Yanwu returned to the office of Chairman Zheng with the bag of expensive clothes that Ni Yuexi had declined. Zheng Shangyu sat behind his desk with stacks of folders laid out in front of him.

"Chairman Zheng."

The secretary greeted his boss on getting into the office of the Chairman of Ziaomi, a company that was known as the trailblazer of the country's electronic industry with focus on smart technology. Xun Yanwu set his face in it's usual impa.s.sive mask which hid the confusion that swirled within him.

"Why are you still holding onto the bag?!"

The secretary of Zheng Shanyu was at a loss for words, not knowing what to say to his boss who looked very fl.u.s.tered, when he saw that the secretary that he sent to hand an employee at another department a gift in his place, returned with the item undelivered. Xun Yanwu eventually summoned up courage to let the Chairman of Ziaomi know the reason for not delivering the package.

"My apologies Sir, but Miss Ni Yuexi refused to take the bag from me."

"She rejected it?! But, why?! Did she tell you the reason?"

"Sir, I went to the office of Ni Yuexi and told her they were from you, but she refused to accept it, saying that she appreciates the gesture, but cannot accept your gift."

The look on Zheng Shanyu's face was as if his girlfriend had stood him up.

"I can't remember anyone ever turning down a gift from me. She needs to explain to me, why she doesn't want to wear the dress that I bought for her! Bring her to my office, right now!"

"Yes, Chairman Zheng!"

The secretary had to gracefully bow to the demands of his boss, which sounded very unreasonable to him.

"Why is he making such a big deal about a mere contract employee turning down his gift?! Is it by force that she has to take what you buy for her?!"

Xun Yanwu mentally rolled his eyes at how petty the Chairman of Ziaomi was acting, not that he could blame the contract worker for refusing to take the clothes that Zheng Shanyu got her from a big name store. If she had taken it from the secretary, Ni Yuexi may end up being labelled as the 'Chairman's woman' or having a sponsor at work, which could be viewed as almost the same as selling herself to Chairman Zheng for the sake of working at Ziaomi and climbing the corporate ladder. The secretary allowed the thought to remain unspoken in his mind.

"Leave the bag and go fetch her for me!"

"What is wrong with him?!"

Since Zheng Shanyu wasn't happy that Ni Yuexi didn't warm up to his peace offering, the poor secretary had to take the brunt of it. Xun Yanwu bent to drop the bag on the office's rug, before leaving the office of Chairman Zheng with the mission to bring back Ni Yuexi by any means!
