Skyfire Star was the primary planet of the Skyfire System. Measuring almost a hundred thousand kilometers in diameter, the Skyfire King's palace was built upon it.
The largest and most bustling city was Skyfire City, and the Skyfire Palace was built in its inner reaches.
Aside from native cultivators, half the population of the city consisted of foreign beings.
The foreign beings were unt.i.tled cultivators who lived across outer s.p.a.ce, and they came in all shapes in sizes as most of them were special lifeforms found in various corners of s.p.a.ce.
And at the moment, a dog and a cat were entering the city with a swagger.
Both of them were standing on their rear legs.
The dog wore baggy pants and aviator gla.s.ses, and walked with its feet splayed outwards—overall, it gave the feeling that it was very smug.
The cat, on the other hand, appeared more respectable.
It was cat-walking while keeping its front paws at its back. It was also wearing a pair of reading gla.s.ses, giving it the air of a quiet but serious pedantic old scholar.
Even so, the cultivators walking back then over the streets of the city pretended that they did not see the cat and the dog.
After all, there are too many unique beings in Skyfire City.
There were three-eyed giants, eight-handed dwarves, devilish beauties with stunning curves on their upper bodies, centaurs with horse for lower bodies… there was therefore nothing special about a cat and a dog.
Of course, that was mainly because Dumbo and Trumbo withdrew their aura.
Otherwise, their peak Grand Luo auras would make them the center of attention anywhere they went.
Meanwhile, cat and dog had reached the Skyfire Palace quickly, but the guard, who belonged to an unknown race, stopped them.
He was over ten feet tall and held a long spear. Its single bowl-sized eye over its rough, ugly face was swiveling loudly, which made it stand out.
“I want to meet the Skyfire King. Please send word.”
Trumbo took out an inferior-grade immortal item then and sneaked it to the guard, putting its front-paws together in a fist-palm salute like a human.
The guard grabbed the immortal item, a look of greed flas.h.i.+ng over its single eye before it rapidly stuffed the immortal item into its own arms. However, it then barked flatly, “Begone!”
“Do you have any idea how n.o.ble our king is?”
“Would he grant an audience to a cat and a dog?”
Nonetheless, Dumbo and Trumbo interpreted that differently.
Infuriated, Dumbo knocked the one-eyed guard off his feet with a single paw and roared in rage, “You mongrel! Who do you think you're belittling?”
It reached out to retrieve the inferior-grade immortal item and turned to Trumbo and complained, “I told you this won't work. We're here to start trouble, not make ourselves at home—why hold back? Can't we just charge in?”
“Manners, manners!”
Trumbo shook its head.
That was when another squad of guards charged toward them. Dumbo hence promptly turned, open its jaw and barked—
“Arf!”
Its bark quaked the heavens and the earth, causing wind and thunder to surge.
Streaks of thunderbolts descended, killing the entire squad of guards.
At the same time, Dumbo's body expanded up to a thousand-feet tall, while its single bark knocked down the walls of the Skyfire Palace.
“Skyfire King!”
Dumbo roared in rage and charged deep inside Skyfire Palace.
“How dare you!”
A Grand Luo bellowed as he flew out from within Skyfire Palace. Even though it tried to attack Dumbo, it was maimed by Dumbo's jaws and had to run away in just a few moves.
The Grand Luo was not the Skyfire King, however—it was merely a novice Grand Luo and an unt.i.tled cultivator that followed the Skyfire King.
Still, that was when the Skyfire King finally could not just sit by and watch.
Flying out of his sleeping chambers, he turned into a fiery giant that stood in the air with flames blazing in his eyes, growling, “Could there have been a misunderstanding between us, Brother?”
Be that as it may, the Skyfire King's heart skipped a beat when it clearly saw Dumbo's face.
A giant black dog that was equal to a pinnacle Grand Luo?
Could it be the one belonging to Jiang He, that legendary human?
Even so, Dumbo did not give him any time to think. Bellowing a tirade of expletives immediately, he started invoking a mystic treasure and bombarded the Skyfire King wildly.
Its Dao was cultivated from an Overdeity's divinity.
Naturally, it would be weaker than the preexistence of the Overdeity's divinity… but it must be noted here that Dumbo cultivated from Zeus's divinity, who was the G.o.d of Thunder and the Patriarch G.o.d of the West.
His strength was equal to a Demi-Saint, which was why even if Dumbo gained a diminished cultivation after using his Overdeity's divinity, his abilities was definitely peak Grand Luo.
As such, the wild bombardment with mystic items left the Skyfire King losing ground.
At the same time, the Skyfire King confirmed Dumbo's ident.i.ty.
“The dog of the legendary Jiang He did not gain Dao by a.s.suming the standard path… its aura and presence was definitely different from the strongest daemons.”
The Skyfire King retreated as he fought while subtly communicating to his confidant…
In turn, his confidant promptly messaged the elites of the Demon race, who naturally reported it to the leaders of their race.
In outer s.p.a.ce, 190,000 km away from Skyfire City, Jiang He was standing over vacuum, a Dao presence swirling around his body and hiding his whereabouts.
He had already kept Hu Mei, Boa Hanc.o.c.k, the Seven Bottle Gourd Brothers and the Nine Wise Rock Monkey in his Farm.
As he looked down and watched Skyfire Star, Jiang He could clearly see the battle waged upon it.
He could not help being amused when he heard Dumbo's unique 'arf' bark, and promptly communicated through acoustics, “Hold back a little… Trumbo, you just have to remain on standby. Won't you kill the Skyfire King instantly if both of you went at once? How would we draw in the G.o.ds and Demons' elites then?”
In Jiang He's perspective, if the Skyfire King really was an informant of the Demon race, word would be pa.s.sed rapidly when Dumbo and Trumbo showed up, with the G.o.ds' and Demons' Demi-Saints charging into Skyfire Star soon.
He had even set up the four-in-one array of sealing, death, guard, and illusion in outer s.p.a.ce as well.
Even so, one only gets more disappointed the more hopeful they are.
Jiang He had only started cultivated a short time ago and fought most his battles on Earth… even his s.p.a.ce a.s.sault on the Hundred Races Alliance' legion at the Sky Demon Star did not take that long.
Nonetheless, s.p.a.ce was infinite and borderless… the distance between Earth and the Sky Demon Star was simply insignificant in comparison.
And once the Demon race received word, they immediately sent word to their Demi-Saint who was in charge of hunting and killing Jiang He. He hence promptly summoned his band of G.o.ds and Demons, gathering with the Demi-Saint of their stronger va.s.sal races as well as the Stoners and the Nether River Patriarch…
However, that was rather unrealistic in such a short time.
For one, the Stoner's world was at the edge of the universe and dozens of constellations away from the celestial battlefield. Even with endless warping and using some long-range portals on the way, they would need time to arrive.
Meanwhile, in a cosmic realm in the celestial battlefield ruled by the G.o.ds, several Demon were standing in the skies over a dried-up planet.
They were all Demi-Saints possessing overwhelming abilities and faint Demonic Qi that left the dead planet quaking.
Moments later, several auras distinct from the Demons' arrived rapidly and landed on the planet as well.
They were a Demi-Saints of the G.o.d race.
Both factions gathered, and after an initial exchange, a G.o.d-race elite spoke, “Jiang He is endlessly cunning, and our patriarch had said that it would be alright if we didn't fight, and we have to take him out if we do. There is no guarantee that we can slay him, which is why we should patiently wait a few days and strike Skyfire Star after the others arrive. His death would be a.s.sured once we cover every corner!”
Heh!
One of the Demi-Saint Demons laughed. “G.o.d Boundless, aren't you being too wary?”
“That human, Jiang He, is merely a Grand Luo.”
“I have studied his information, and he was merely enslaved some foreign elites with a certain method to make them self-destruct… that was the only move that made him a threat against Demi-Saints. Or perhaps we can't handle one Grand Luo even with nine of us Demi-Saints combined?”
There were five Demi-Saints of the G.o.d race and four Demi-Saints of the Devil race present.
The Demi-Saint named Boundless scowled upon the other's remark and said unhappily, “This matter is entrusted to us by our respective patriarchs, or are you going to shoulder the responsibility if Jiang He get the jump on us?”
Regardless, everyone stayed after an argument.
By the next day, two five Demi-Saints of the G.o.d race and two Demi-Saints of the Devil race arrived, along with three Demi-Saints from their va.s.sal races.
One of those three closely resembled a human—he was Sky Demon Emperor, Patriarch of the Sky Demon race who possessed frightening Demonic Qi.
He was Demi-Saint pinnacle, and his combat ability was third-place among all Demi-Saints across worlds.
Meanwhile, the Demon Demi-Saint from earlier was grumbling and ranting about having everyone charge to Skyfire Star, but most of the other Demi-Saints were not in a hurry.
After living endless days, they valued their lives even more.
They all knew that Jiang He enslaved elites whom he detonated to attack his foes… but would they be able to stop him if the Nether River Patriarch could not?
Hence, they waited for three more days, but only a single foreign Demi-Saint—a Stoner—arrived.
The Stoners were one of the most powerful races in the universe despite lacking a Saint, and naturally had no 'patriarch'. Even so, they had three more Demi-Saints aside from the Ancestral Stoner.
“Our Ancestor is in seclusion at the homeland, but I've received word that they would arrive here at the celestial battlefield in around ten days,” the Stoner said.
One of the Demon-Saint G.o.ds also spoke then. “The Nether River Patriarch has agreed to help as well, but he would be striking from the shadows.”
“The others would make it as early as three days. Now that we have fifteen peak Demi-Saints including the Sky Demon Emperor and G.o.d Boundless gathered here, don't we have a fair chance of killing Jiang He?”
“Let's go!”
The Demi-Saint Demon from earlier had already lost patience and exclaimed, “If we fifteen Demi-Saints are afraid to take down a human Grand Luo, wouldn't every race in the universe laugh themselves silly if they knew?”
“d.a.m.n it!”
Outside Skyfire Star, Jiang He cursed listlessly. “It has been ten days, but where are the G.o.ds and Demons' elites?”
“They swore to kill me, but aren't doing a thing even after so long… did the Jade Emperor get the wrong intel, and the Skyfire King is not actually an informant of the Demon race?”
Hence, Jiang He's communicated, “Dumbo, Trumbo, go all-out!”
That was when Jiang He's expression changed and he promptly turned toward the distant stars.
A delighted look appeared on his listless face right then—
“They're coming… They're coming! They're finally coming!”
