“I see. We should invite him for a proper meal,” said Sha Zhihua.
“You are right, I'll call him,” said Zhou Xiong, who also wanted to express his grat.i.tude to w.a.n.g Yao.
As they were talking, the doorbell rang.
“That should be him,” said Zhou Xiong.
He opened the door, and saw w.a.n.g Yao standing there.
“We were just talking about you, please come in,” said Zhou Xiong.
“What did you talk about?” asked w.a.n.g Yao with a smile.
“We want to invite you for dinner to express our grat.i.tude,” said Zhou Xiong.
“You don't need to, but thank you,” said w.a.n.g Yao.
After greeting to one another, w.a.n.g Yao had a look at Zhou Wuyi and gave him another treatment. The treatment went well. Zhou Wuyi was one step closer to a full recovery.
“Everything is going well. You are recovering well,” said w.a.n.g Yao.
“Okay, thanks,” said Zhou Wuyi, smiling.
“You seem to be more calm now,” said w.a.n.g Yao.
“Yes, I took your advice and have read several scriptures, from which I gained a lot,” said Zhou Wuyi.
He was telling the truth. At the beginning he found the scriptures too boring. However, he forced himself to read the scriptures several times every day. After a few days, he noticed the change in his mood.
“You will gain more if you can continue to read the scriptures,” said w.a.n.g Yao, smiling.
A calm mind and positive att.i.tude were helpful in one's recovery from any illness.
w.a.n.g Yao turned down Zhou Xiong's invitation for dinner, and drove back to the village at 4pm.
“Hmmm, how come he is still not here?” A business van was parking outside w.a.n.g Yao's clinic. Three people sat inside the vehicle, two men and one woman.
“Is this doctor reliable?” asked one of the men.
“I've spoken to a number of people. They all told me that although the doctor was very young, he was fantastic and absolutely reliable,” said the other man.
“Didn't you see the sign on his door? It says he's out,” said the woman.
“Yes, let's wait for another half an hour. We'll leave then if he doesn't come back,” said one of the men.
“Maybe we should go to a proper hospital,” said the other man.
“Go to a proper hospital? What can we explain to the doctors there? You'll end up in that horrible place,” said the woman.
A new patient? w.a.n.g Yao saw the vehicle parked next to his clinic.
Who would come at this time of the day?
He had a glance at the time, then parked his car before he unlocked the door of his clinic.
“Hey, look, he's back!” said one of the men.
“Is that the doctor?” asked the other man.
“I think so, let's go and ask him,” said the woman.
“Do you guys come to see me?” asked w.a.n.g Yao.
“Yes,” said one of the men.
“Please come in,” said w.a.n.g Yao.
All of the three people were quite young, in their 20's. However, they had uneven breathing and unsteady gait. Their faces were pale. Their eyes were fixed, and they kept yawning.
“How can I help you?” asked w.a.n.g Yao.
“Are you a doctor? Can't you tell what's wrong with us?” said one of them, who was slightly overweight. The person was quite rude.
w.a.n.g Yao looked at him.
“You should leave if you don't want to cooperate,” said w.a.n.g Yao. He didn't want to waste his time on any non-compliant patients.
“Sorry, please don't take him seriously. He can be really rude sometimes. I'll go first. I have a headache and hallucinations,” said the other young man.
“Hallucinations?” w.a.n.g Yao was surprised to hear it. It was his first time to see a hallucinating patient that was so young.
“Yes,” said the young man.
“When did it start?” asked w.a.n.g Yao.
“Hmmm, about 20 days ago,” said the young man.
“Let me take a look.” w.a.n.g Yao took a good look at the young man. Then his face went stern.
“You — wait, no. Actually, all of you have taken drugs, right?” asked w.a.n.g Yao.
The three young people looked shocked.
“What are you talking about!?” said the young man.
No wonder they had hallucinations and were seeming to hide something. w.a.n.g Yao believed that they had taken drugs, which caused symptoms such as hallucinations.
“Stop playing dumb!” said w.a.n.g Yao in a low and thick voice.
Om! The three of them suddenly experienced eardrum fluttering, as if someone was. .h.i.tting a big drum right next to their ears, giving them a big headache.
“It hurts!” shouted the young woman.
“We did take drugs, and we are addicted,” said one of them, a skinny young man.
“How long have you been taking drugs?” asked w.a.n.g Yao.
“About a month,” said the young man.
“A month! Have you been to the hospital?” asked w.a.n.g Yao.
“No, we didn't want anyone else to know,” said the young man.
“Then why did you come here?” asked w.a.n.g Yao.
“My grandma had seen you before. She told me you are a very good doctor,” said the young woman, who looked delicately pretty.
“Doctor, can you help us?” asked the skinny young man.
w.a.n.g Yao shook his head. He was speechless.
They came to the wrong place. They should to go a rehabilitation center instead of his clinic.
“Doctor?” said the pretty young woman gently as w.a.n.g Yao had kept silent for a while.
“How did you become drug addicts?” asked w.a.n.g Yao.
“Well, when we went for a drink in a pub one night. We just had one c.o.c.ktail,” said the young woman.
“Let me take another look,” said w.a.n.g Yao.
w.a.n.g Yao took a good look at all of them again. Their condition was still considered an illness, as they were intoxicated by the drugs. However, their situation was very different from the other patients.
The three young people had been in the clinic for about 20 minutes. They kept yawning, as if they hadn't had a good sleep. This was one of the typical symptoms of drug addicts.
Ouch! Oh!
The young man who was slightly overweight suddenly started to shake. He held his shoulder with his arms.
“Long!” The other two looked terrified. They could tell their friend was about to go through withdrawal.
The young man whose name was Long started to see shadows, and heard people talking.
He also heard cats and dogs making sounds, and music.
“Ah!” He suddenly became short of breath and he looked confused.
“Give me some, be quick!” said Long.
“No!” said the skinny young man.
“Just a little bit!” said Long.
As the two of them were about to say something, they suddenly felt suffocated, as if the air around them had been evacuated.
w.a.n.g Yao flapped one of his hands on the young man who was going through a withdrawal. He patted and poked on that young man's body rapidly.
“Ouch!” screamed the young man.
He stopped shaking, and his eyes became clear again.
“Wow!” His friends were in shock.
This was fascinating to them. They were amazed that their friend's withdrawl stopped after being patted by w.a.n.g Yao several times. They believed they were in the right place. This young doctor, who seemed only a few years older than them, was definitely a highly capable person. He could probably help them get rid of their drug addiction.
“How are you feeling now?” asked w.a.n.g Yao.
“I feel much better now, thank you,” said Long.
He was not stupid. This was not the first time he had ever experienced withdrawal symptoms. Previously, he had to continue taking drugs to feel better. Every drug addict knew the harm. However, it was too hard to get rid of the addiction. Only people with extremely strong willpower could possibly quit the drug. Otherwise, they had to be put in a rehabilitation center. Who could expect drug withdrawal could be stopped with a single hand?
When w.a.n.g Yao was patting Long, he transferred his Qi into Long's acupuncture points and meridians rapidly. The Qi eased the pain and repaired the damage caused by the drugs to stop Long's drug withdrawal symptoms.
“Doctor, can you help us?” asked Long.
“Yes, but you need to notify your parents, all of you,” said w.a.n.g Yao.
“Oh, no! Please! My dad will kill me!” said the skinny young man.
“Then I can't help you,” said w.a.n.g Yao without even a moment's hesitation.
“Doctor, please help us! Please! We are happy to pay anything you demand,” said the skinny young man.
“No, you must notify your parents and bring them here,” said w.a.n.g Yao.
The three of them were too young to be able to control themselves. It would take a while for them to get rid of their addiction. w.a.n.g Yao could help them in the clinic, but they could fall back into their old habits in no time without proper supervision. That would throw w.a.n.g Yao's effort to cure them into the drain. If w.a.n.g Yao couldn't make sure the three young people would stay away from drugs permanently, he would rather not to treat them at all. Therefore, for the best interest of the three young people, w.a.n.g Yao believed that their parents should know what was going on. No matter how strict their parents were, they loved their children and didn't want them to be drug addicts.
“Go home and have a good think about it,” said w.a.n.g Yao.
As the three of them couldn't convince w.a.n.g Yao to treat them, they had to leave.
“Think long and hard about it. You guys are still young. Your life will be irreparably damaged if you don't stop taking drugs,” said w.a.n.g Yao before they left.
“That doctor is such a douchebag!” said the overweight young man grumpily after they left the clinic. He probably had forgotten who just saved him. “It's not like we won't pay him.”
“What can we do? Tell our parents?” asked the skinny man.
“No way, they'll kill us,” said the young woman.
“Well, I think the doctor can help us get rid of our drug addiction. Look, let's try to get some money, as much money as possible. Then, we come back with cash. I don't believe that he won't help us,” said the overweight young man.
The other two exchanged a glance.
“Okay, let's try it,” said the skinny young man.
“Okay!” agreed the young woman. “How much should we get?”
“Well, how about each of us try to get 30 thousand?” suggested the overweight young man.
“What? Where can I get so much money? I only get a few thousands a month for pocket money,” said the skinny young man.
