Su Bai continued sitting by the river. In front of him, there was a head that looked exactly like his. Such a scene was unique and super weird. Su Bai even felt that he should pick up a stick, stick it into this head, soak it in salty water and put it on fire to bake.
The story world had changed. Su Bai wouldn't think he was the only one that had been duplicated; the others must be facing the same "treatment". But he was indeed a little too fast with this one.
His vampire blood should be able to evolve by drinking the blood of "his" body, but he didn't do that. He wasn't that naive. He trusted himself and understood himself; he knew himself very well that he even believed the guy might have poisoned himself in advance. Anyway, if he was in that guy's shoes, according to his a.n.a.lysis of himself, he would rather kill himself than become other people's nourishment.
Crossing his hands, Su Bai suddenly felt a little chilly. It was past midnight and it was really cold in the forest. He took out another blood bead and swallowed it. Immediately, warmth spread from his belly.
Warming himself with this precious bead seemed a little too wasteful, but Su Bai couldn't bother about that. He stood up, looked around and suddenly felt a strong disgust against the surroundings.
Perhaps he still preferred those complicated cases rather than this extremely open-styled story.
Because of this pure ma.s.sacre, Su Bai had lost that feeling he had towards Dreadful Radio all this time. It was lacking in the true beauty of horror.
Besides, everything was confusingly messed up.
Su Bai picked up the useful stuff around him and continued walking slowly. He was walking really slowly like an old man late in his life, but in such a condition, his responsibility would become more flexible.
At least, Su Bai couldn't mind if he looked good or walked vigorously.
The forest was very large, but in some way, it was rather small. While walking aimlessly, Su Bai found himself by that river again.
The river was running through the middle part of the forest, and the cabin was just at the northern end of it.
Just then, some smog rose up from the river. In the smog, Su Bai saw a tent by the water. There was light in the tent, and he could see a vague figure sitting cross-legged in the tent.
And there was someone outside the tent. A woman was sitting on heels. Her chest was going up and down, and her face was pale. Apparently, she was hurt.
The woman noticed Su Bai's arrival. She opened her eyes and looked at Su Bai.
Su Bai remembered this woman, but only vaguely… She was the one that got pulled down into the water. Her friends thought she was dead, and so madly attacked Su Bai.
Sophia stared at Su Bai for a little while and then closed her eyes again.
"I smelled zombie, and vampire! Interesting, two physiques at the same time? How can you manage that?"
A voice came from the tent. It was a young female voice.
Just then, the curtain of the tent opened. A girl walked out; she was black-haired, extraordinarily graceful and looked innocent.
She had beautiful long hair, green clothes and silver bells around her wrists and ankles. She looked so smart and lively, and she should be only 16 or 17 years old.
"h.e.l.lo, stranger." The girl waved to Su Bai, "Why not come and join us?"
Su Bai looked ahead. In a bush, there were two bodies: one was Sophia's and the other was the girl's. These should be the bodies of their duplicates. Apparently, they had also killed their duplicates.
The new plot of the Dreadful Radio seemed to make no difference to them. To some of them, a duplicate was nothing but a copycat, only more cunning and cruel. However, a fake would never be authentic. It was a feeling but also a belief.
Su Bai walked ahead carefully. The girl smiled at Su Bai; then she turned around, fetched some food from her tent and asked,
"Are you hungry?"
It wasn't fast food from a convenience store but some roast meat with salt, and it must be made recently because it still felt warm and smelled good.
Seeing the meat, Su Bai suddenly remembered the idea that occurred to him when he was looking at his duplicate's head. He shook his hand slightly as a refusal. He didn't need food, or to be exact, he didn't need this kind of food.
"Weird. There are over 20 partic.i.p.ants, but only the three of us have made it here, by the river." The girl stuck out her tongue wittily, looked at Sophia and said with a little pride, "See? Two for easterners."
Sophia looked at the girl and smiled. Even under such circ.u.mstances, she still cared about which side of them was winning in numbers. This girl was definitely a weirdo.
"Alright, you don't want to eat, which means you are not interested in ordinary food for normal people. But my dear Sophia was hurt, and I'm afraid of pain. So we can't offer you blood. Sorry."
The girl apologized sincerely, which made Su Bai a little confused. This girl seemed so pure and innocent, but she would not be easy to handle.
"The second time will start in five minutes." The girl took a deep breath with great expectation on her face, "This game is so much fun. By the way, only Sophia and I were playing last time. You were not here before, but you are here now; so have you found anything?"
Su Bai didn't answer because he didn't know what to say. He had no clue about the woman who faked her own death, the eastern girl that he had never seen before, or what they were talking about.
"Do you think this story world is simple, boring and insipid?" The girl blinked and looked at Su Bai with her diamond eyes.
Su Bai nodded.
Indeed, Dreadful Radio could've done much better than this story world.
"Aha, that's because you haven't really entered this story world yet. Except for the three of us, no one has really entered this story world.
"Actually, this story world is very, very wonderful and attractive. It's just… irresistible."
Just after her words, a pale purple glory started rising up from the water in front of them.
"Alright, it's time to go across the river. My dear Sophia, be careful next time, okay? By the way, we've already got three people. Next time, no more than three people should show up here. Its maximum capacity is merely three people. Therefore, if there are more people showing up… you know what to do. Of course, I wish there isn't a next time. I do hope someone can find the source first."
The girl waved her fist towards Sophia and walked into the river gracefully. She was totally enveloped by the purple air; however, in the end, she didn't get ash.o.r.e but vanished instead.
Sophia looked at Su Bai, stood up and walked into the water. Same thing happened to her: she disappeared halfway.
Su Bai came to the river. This river had many secrets. He had seen walking dead marching in the bottom of the river according to some certain rules; that should be only a tip of an iceberg.
Purple glory was fading. Clearly, it was about to disappear.
Su Bai didn't hesitate too much. He walked into it unhurriedly. Then, he suddenly felt as if everything around him had changed utterly as he walked into the water in the glory.
"Buzz!"
His body shook, and so did his brain.
[ Main Task 1: Find the source of the river in the forest. Awards: 500 Story Points.]
The main task of Dreadful Radio finally appeared in Su Bai's mind. But the next moment, he suddenly felt a little familiar with where he was.
"F*ck, the Dreadful Radio left me only three pieces of spell paper! I had prepared thirty!"
"And I have only three darts now."
Fatty and Ego's voices came from beside Su Bai. He finally had figured out what had happened, and understood why the girl said this story world was actually funny.
Su Bai took out his small box. There should be seven blood beads, but now there were five. The two he had taken didn't come back!
Closing his eyes, Su Bai felt inside his body. Both his vampire strength and zombie strength were active, and he was able to s.h.i.+ft smoothly from one to the other. All this didn't change; nor did what he had been through.
However, Fatty, Ego and everyone else except Sophia, the girl and himself, were all… reset!
"Eh? There's a car over there. Hey, you guys come and check this out, there's a map in the car. Is that a hint of the plot or the task?" Fatty walked to the car and waved to the other two people.
Su Bai had taken some time to check his body, so Fatty found the car and the map as Su Bai had done in the last time.
The three of them got in the car. This time, Fatty was driving. He started the car and pushed the horn.
"I've got a feeling that this story world can't be easy. It looks like a horror movie. So we'd better stick together. I believe we can survive."
Ego nodded, "No matter what happens, we'll be alright as long as we stick together. In a word, we'd better stick together through thick and thin."
Then it was Su Bai's turn to take a stand. He smiled, nodded and said only one word:
"Deal."
