Chapter 1926 - Protection Racket

Protection Racket

“Okay.”

Jiang Chen nodded. He had no doubts about what Nangong Wentian had said. Given the situation Nangong Wentian was in right now, it was very difficult to find another way other than this.

Furthermore, this was the reason Jiang Chen had come here, although he wouldn’t be of much help to Nangong Wentian given his present strength.

“That settles it then. You can familiarise yourself with the environment of the Immortal Court in this month’s time. I’ll back you up if anything goes wrong,” said Nangong Wentian with a smile.

Jiang Chen’s presence made him see hope. In his eyes, Jiang Chen was always a creator of miracles.

After their meeting, the two brothers chatted even more – Jiang Chen told everything he had encountered in the Immortal World to Nangong Wentian, including the story of Han Yan, Tyrant, and the true ident.i.ty of Yan Chenyu, Nanbei Chao and Big Yellow. While listening to Jiang Chen’s story, Nangong Wentian’s face wore a surprised look.

As a matter of fact, anyone would be surprised by these informations.

“I didn’t expect these guys to be so powerful.”

Nangong Wentian spoke sincerely. He had thought that his ident.i.ty as Heaven Sovereign was already mighty enough until he learned the ident.i.ty of Yan Chenyu and Big Yellow. There was almost no one in the Immortal World who didn’t know Empress Nine Yin and Demon Sovereign Dragon Sun who was on par with Immortal Execution King and Great Sovereign Zang Xian.

“Alright. We have chatted for quite a while. It’s time for me to return.” Jiang Chen clasped Nangong Wentian’s shoulder.

“Very well. You have to be careful. Most of the people in the Immortal Court always try to deceive and outwit one another,” Nangong Wentian warned.

“Have you forgotten what I’m capable of?”

Jiang Chen smiled, then left Heaven Sovereign Palace with Big Yellow, and headed back to the mountain peak.

Currently, on the summit, Lu Yishan and the rest were pacing to and fro on the vast square, each of them looking anxious and dejected.

When they saw Jiang Chen, their faces revealed a hint of delight.

“What’s wrong? Why do you all seem upset?” asked Jiang Chen with a smile.

“Brother Jiang, six senior disciples came to collect protection fee from us,” Wei Yun spoke angrily.

Collecting protection fee? What was this about?

Jiang Chen was dumbfounded.

“The leader of the group is called Qiao Huan. He demanded 100 000 Venerable Grade Immortal Meta Stones from us as protection fee, and if we refuse to pay, he guarantees that our lives won’t be very peaceful,” Lu Yishan spoke with infuriation.

“Did you all pay them?”

Jiang Chen’s facial expression turned stern. It seemed these senior disciples were trying to take advantage of them.

“No. Qiao Huan saw that one of us is absent and then told us to pay him the protection fee when you are back. If we refuse to pay, they are going to do something to us tomorrow,” Yang Ming answered.

Jiang Chen almost smiled while listening to this. Those people were absolutely not putting any of them in their eyes.

“We’ll wait for them to come, then we’ll discuss about the protection fee with them.”

Jiang Chen smiled. He wasn’t an idiot. Although this kind of racket wasn’t anything significant, someone must have instructed them to do so. Considering that they were now Han Feng and Heaven Sovereign’s followers, they wouldn’t be able to mix with the other disciples. It was only a matter when fights broke out, but Jiang Chen didn’t expect it to arrive so soon.

“Alright. We’ll wait for them to come tomorrow. We’ll show them that we aren’t people they should mess around.”

“That’s right. If we compromise this time, then there will be a second and third time, which will make our lives even harder in the future.”

“Fist is the one to decide the rules. We can’t be afraid of them.”

………………..

Each of them were the top geniuses in their respective sects. They had never felt so indignant before. Now that Jiang Chen was their leader, they naturally would follow Jiang Chen words.

However, they still had some concerns. Although Jiang Chen was powerful, he was merely an early Immortal Venerable while Qiao Huan was an intermediate Immortal Venerable, and an outstanding genius of the Immortal Court. They were afraid that Jiang Chen might not be his opponent.

This, however, wasn’t important. What was more important was to fight back or else they were going to be oppressed even more.

The next day!

It was only early in the morning when waves of strong momentum were felt from the square of the summit.

“I want all of you to get out!” A loud voice was transmitted into everyone’s ears.

They had already been prepared for this. Each of them walked out from their respective room. Those standing on the square were the ones that came yesterday. The leader amongst them wore a pale-golden robe. He seemed good-looking and also extremely arrogant.

“It’s them, Brother Jiang.”

Lu Yishan stood next to Jiang Chen, pointed and said, “That’s their leader, Qiao Huan.”

“En.”

Jiang Chen nodded, then led the rest of them towards the square, halting at a spot not far away from Qiao Huan and his people.

“You all do have the nerve to not pay the protection fee. It seems you won’t understand your own place and status until some form of punishment is shown to you,” an early Immortal Venerable spoke in a tone full of disdain.

“Brother Qiao said yesterday that if you all didn’t pay, the protection fee will be doubled. Each of you has to pay 200 000 Venerable Grade Immortal Meta Stones now. It’s good that none of you is absent. Please be quick,” another one of them added.

“I do have plenty of Immortal Meta Stones, but why would I give them to you?” replied Jiang Chen indifferently. Neither of these geniuses could stand even a blow from him.

“Presumptuous! What’s your name?” One of them shouted.

“Jiang Chen.” Jiang Chen called out his own name in a plain tone.

“Jiang Chen, kneel and kowtow before Brother Qiao and admit your mistakes now, or else, you are going to end up very miserable.” The man continued.

“I’m warning you to not ask me to kneel because the consequences of doing so won’t be pleasant.”

Jiang Chen’s eyes suddenly turned slightly cold. He could already see that this group of geniuses had deliberately come here to cause trouble. It couldn’t be solved without a fight.

“Son of a b*tch! Who do you think you are? How dare you speak to me in such a manner?! I’ll cripple you right now.”

The disciple who spoke just now was infuriated. His qi fluctuated as he lunged at Jiang Chen.
