Chapter 3279 The Four Great a.s.sa.s.sination Sects
"Hand over the Emperor of Death."
In the skies, four distinct groups soared and landed on different cliffs. Their members were all donned in black robes, each group bearing a unique insignia that represented who they belonged to.
"What if I said no?"
In the northern direction, standing at the forefront of the group, was Young Master Deathseeker. He had his hands behind his back, appearing nonchalant.
Behind him stood a group of five people, their emblem carrying a striking purple teardrop that descends from an intricately detailed eye. The teardrop glistened ever so lightly, giving off a vibrant contrast to the darkness of their robes as well as a sense of sorrow, its gaze both sorrowful and vigilant.
"Younglings should shut up."
Similarly, in the eastern direction stood a group of six. This group's insignia features a dark blue pearl, radiant and s.h.i.+mmering amidst the obsidian waterfall of their robes. The pearl appeared to have a glorified temple within, its l.u.s.trous glow adding to the mysterious presence of the group.
These people were from the Soulsteal Pearl Temple.
"Indeed. Let your Patriarch or your Ancestors talk."
In the western direction stood the Oracular Reaver Abode.
This group of six was marked by an emblem that portrays a quaint abode, eclipsed by the imposing and ominous blade of a scythe. The image evoked a sense of shelter but also the arrival of inevitable destiny, one that foretells death.
"Enough. Ghost Tear Hall, if you don't want to hand over your disciple, that's fine. The three of our sects will make sure that your sect doesn't survive past this year."
Lastly, in the southern direction stood the a.s.sa.s.sins of the Malevolent Blade Hall.
Their group of four was distinguished by an emblem consisting of a sleek, menacing dagger with two vivid red eyes glaring from the s.p.a.ces between the hilt and the blade. It was as though it exuded unbridled killing intent or accursed gaze, wis.h.i.+ng to curse and stab everything in the world.
Their Patriarch, a man with a cyan mask and red hair, spoke in a wicked tone, his cold, red eyes exuding a tremendous amount of killing intent as though he wasn't kidding at all.
In fact, the a.s.sa.s.sins gathered here all exuded killing intent despite their cold expressions.
Each of them carried some sort of treasure within their grasp, appearing ready to unleash it. Considering the amount of treasures they held, all could not be Legacy Artifacts, but the ones held by their Patriarchs could very well be Legacy Artifacts.
"Empty words."
The Patriarch of the Ghost Tear Hall suddenly spoke.
"We, the Ghost Tear Hall, have always maintained supremacy over the other a.s.sa.s.sination sects, and you, the Malevolent Blade Hall, are nothing more than a ghost of yore that failed to die out completely. Considering you were all gone for a period of time, I guess you have no more than one Legacy Artifact to compete with us, but how are you going to use it when it's already doing its very best to sustain your power's karmic luck? Do you want to completely die out?"
He lifted his hand and displayed an amulet that appeared like a teardrop.
Looking at it, the hearts of the other a.s.sa.s.sins shook like crazy as they recognized this to be the Ghost Tear Hall's Legacy Soul Artifact.
Usually, it was used to keep the sect's secrets intact by having the disciples join them to form a Blood Soul Contract with it, but in truth, its real use was something else entirely, having countless myths about its usage. However, one thing was for sure.
Its name was known as the Ghost Mourning Amulet. It was rumored to be terrifying when activated, causing people to mourn over the loss of the lives lost in the aftermath.
Besides, looking at an Ancestor-level character from the Ghost Tear Hall holding a second Legacy Artifact, the Soulbound Shadow Lantern, they knew the chances that they could escape if the fight started and they were at a disadvantage was abysmal.
However, they weren't disheartened either, as they came with their own Legacy Artifacts as well.
The Soulsteal Pearl Temple, Oracular Reaver Abode, and the Malevolent Blade Hall had all brought a Legacy Artifact each. They weren't intimidated.
"Hmph! Your disciple destroyed our branches, and you want us to sit and watch?" The Malevolent Blade Hall's Patriarch harrumphed.
"Who the f.u.c.k told you to target his family?" Master Deathseeker roared as he stepped forward, already having his patience thin.
He was stopped by his Patriarch, who raised his hand.
"We don't hold any grudge against him. We targeted his father for the a.s.sa.s.sination mission we're hired for." The Soulsteal Pearl Temple's Patriarch uttered.
He appeared to be bald but had numerous runes etched on his head, all the way from his chin to the back of his nape, appearing to be a tribal leader of some sort from appearance, although he emanated a terrifying soul prowess.
"Indeed." The Oracular Reaver Abode's Patriarch nodded, "If he has a problem, he should hire us, and we'll do the same to the client. However, it's up to him to find who the client is, not that we're going to decline killing a target as long as the price is right. To attack and kill us during missions, we will retaliate appropriately, but to destroy our branches, doesn't he know that's declaring war?"
His face was somewhat middle-aged, and he appeared to have a white beard as long as his head, further having a wizened expression on his face, not bothering to hide his ident.i.ty.
"You think my disciple doesn't know that? However, who do you think he is? He's an Anarchic Divergent of unseen heights, one the likes of our First Haven World has never seen. Do you seriously think he's going to abide by the rules established by the a.s.sa.s.sination sects?"
"If he doesn't follow, then he can only suffer the consequences." The Oracular Reaver Abode's Patriarch lazily replied.
"Yes." Surprisingly, Master Deathseeker didn't seem to blow his head off this time, appearing deathly calm.
"He's telling you that he doesn't care and will come for your heads regardless if you keep this up. He already took revenge and left, so any more attacks and you will further aggravate him into wiping you all out. Actually, do it. Go aggravate him. I want to see him bury you all, ridding us of the annoying pests that keep flying around us."
Master Deathseeker grinned, appearing to look forward to the grand slaughter of the century.
His dark vortex eyes gleamed with unbridled interest, knowing that his disciple possessed a trump card that he almost displayed when battling with Wicked Tamer Jaxon Harrow.
Naturally, the Soulsteal Pearl Temple, Oracular Reaver Abode, and the Malevolent Blade Hall knew of this matter as well. Hence, they all brought out their Legacy Artifacts to deal with an Immortal King brat. Matters of this nature would put them to shame, but they were facing an Anarchic Divergent whose depths were unknown, so honestly, they didn't try to hold back at all, coming with their full force and only leaving the other Legacy Artifact for defense.
After all, in times like these, the major powers or alliances would take action and try to eradicate them in one fell swoop. They had too many enemies to count despite them saying that it was only a mission or they were just hired to do so.
For the same reason, everyone could tell that the Malevolent Blade Hall didn't have a second Legacy Artifact, or they wouldn't have fallen a century millennium ago.
With many matters keeping them at bay, it was extremely difficult for them to start an official war that employed Legacy Artifacts, so they all ended up glaring at each other, their expressions cold yet tense, their energies waiting to trigger the Late Stage Immortal Emperor Grade Artifacts they held.
