"… Back to what I was going to say. I have a plan for me to not be quite as worthless in this mission, don't worry I still hate myself."
Kenjiro smiled at the two other people at the meeting.
Kanton slowly turned his head towards Narino, a bit confused, but nodded slightly and asked Kenjiro
"Really? Well, go ahead then."
Kenjiro smiled wryly and pulled out his affinity-paper from his back-pocket and displayed it on the table with a certain unexpected pride exerting from him. Narino took a quick peek, and after getting shocked for an overall second time asked Kenjiro coldly
"So what? What's your plan?"
Kenjiro pulled himself back quickly upon feeling the cold surprise attack from Narino. Kenjiro started by saying
"If we look at my abilities, we can see that the two abilities I can use are 'Anime/Manga style' and 'Power-stealing through damage'. Obviously, we're going to use both of the powers."
Narino pitched in again and commented
"Both? What good would the drawing one do? Also, do you suppose that we're going to punch you with our abilities to power you up? I don't want to do that at all."
Kenjiro was about to open his mouth and explain until Kanton seemed to get a flash of inspiration striking through him and he suddenly turned to Kenjiro with an understanding grin and said
"Narino, Narino, what will we do about your sheer ignorance?"
Narino suddenly got upset and said
"What'd you say to me!? If you've figured something, please share it instead of teasing me!"
Kanton smiled and continued
"The key is 'Surprise'!
We don't really know how strong Kori is, but we can a.s.sume that he is pretty strong considering why we're in this situation, to begin with. To counteract that, we need to constantly surprise him. If we surprise him enough times, he should start becoming a bit scared of what could be coming against him."
Narino nodded understandingly and said
"I see, so we use Kenjiro's powers to surprise him?"
Kenjiro decided to take his turn explaining and said
"Yes, but not exactly. We'll only be using my 'Anime/Mangstyle' for a surprise attack. I'll probably draw something really unappealing and disgusting, I'll then throw that at Kori to distract him a bit, but also to surprise him. But the other power is for the whole plan as a whole. You see, this battle is going to..."
Kenjiro finished his sentence and looked at Kanton, Kanton picked up and responded
"Be a loss for us!"
Narino jolted her head back in surprise and said
"WHAT!? That's not a good plan if it's meant for us to lose!"
Kanton decided to answer and said
"Yes, it is, because this is just the first part of a two-part plan. The second power is for Kenjiro to collect Kori's powers, which he later can use against Kori! Therefore we will need to give Kenjiro as many of Kori's powers as possible to maximize our chances of victory the next time around. In order to do that, we need Kori to use strong attacks against Kenjiro. That's why we'll surprise, and attack, him."
Narino realized the plan that had been hatched by Kenjiro. Inside her head, she praised Kenjiro for his ingenuity. But she decided against voicing this thought since she knew exactly what his response would be.
Kenjiro's expression turned a bit gloom as he started explaining some possible cons
"Of course, this plan is pretty risky. The biggest reason for it being pretty risky is that we really don't know how strong Kori truly is. The fact is also that I'm really weak. If things truly go south, I might end up in the hospital or something.
But perhaps that wouldn't be too bad… I would have a lot of free time..."
Narino suddenly burst out in a worried manner and said
"No, you can't end up in the hospital!"
Kenjiro looked at Narino in suspicion for a couple of seconds while he thought through the consequences himself. After some thinking, he realized a consequence that would be less than ideal.
"I suppose you're right, Narino. If I were to end up in the hospital, Uncle would probably get pretty worried."
Narino mumbled to herself "Uncle…?"
But Kanton interrupted her by voicing his own thoughts
"But it's our only choice, isn't it? If we go with this plan, we have the biggest probability of winning this war. By losing the battle, of course."
Narino simply let out a somewhat unsure
"I guess…"
After expressing his thoughts, Kanton looked down at the table whilst considering what could happen. Everybody else at the table opted to do the same, and everybody stared down at the table like that table was a fas.h.i.+on model that had been discovered in public by accident.
The trio had now gotten some more attention due to the hard-thinking air that surrounded the accidental trio.
After some thought, Kanton said
"You know what...
it is risky.
But I feel like it's something worth trying, don't you agree Narino?"
The face Kanton displayed to Narino was one of pure excitement. Narino sighed a bit and responded calmly
"Sure, I feel like it has some reasonable chances to work.
It feels impossible for Kori to be able to predict something like this."
And that's how the plan that would later be named, Plan Power Surge, was created.
…
As I stared into the dark void once again, and that floating sensation surrounded me again. The light switch was turned on and suddenly, I stood up in the middle of the white s.p.a.ce. The whole scenario reminded of something, and after seeing that woman again I realized where I was.
-Guess I'm back inside my mind again… I suppose every time I lose consciousness, I'll end up here in this place. Although I think I need to have some more scientific research about this if I want to be sure. Because you know… Being inside your own head with an 'artificial' system is entirely logical and scientific. -
"Long time no see, I guess!" I shouted out towards the unsuspecting girl that was standing at a reasonable distance.
The girl quickly turned around with a surprised face and after what seemed like a micro-second, the girl was suddenly behind me.
She drew in close and whispered in my ear
"Long time no see, indeed"
The whisper was very soft and gentle. It also gave me a s.h.i.+ver that ran down my spine, in an uncomfortable way. I instantly stepped forward a couple of steps and turned around in horror.
What I found after turning around was a smiling, brown-haired 2100-year old girl.
I instantly commented
"That's the biggest personality twist I've ever witnessed! What happened to you!?"
The system blushed a bit and said
"Nothing really, I just thought that I would greet you. Shouldn't I have?"
I responded
"Yeah, you definitely shouldn't have! You make it seem like you like me or something! And that's just not okay, right?"
The girl lashed out and yelled
"Don't 'right?' me! It's normal for systems to serve their masters!"
The last word cut right through my soul and caused my heart to hurt, imitating a real heart attack. Although that was impossible, since I was inside myself right now, I couldn't feel the heart attack as one normally would. Although that got me thinking about just what this 'body' I had in here was…
My speculation reached no conclusion due to the endless possibilities, could've been my soul(If I had one), could've been some sort of Kaito power thing. Who knows?
I grabbed my chest, particularly at the place that my heart would've been placed, and squeezed it.
"Please don't ever refer to me as a 'master' ever again… Wait, I just realized but I don't even know what your name is."
The system looked at me with a perplexed look and said
"I don't have a name. Masters usually don't ask things like that..."
I clenched my fist at the mention of that word again, but I decided to let it slide this time. I then started thinking of a name for this girl/system/alien/Idon'tKnow. I decided to do this in order to even out the metaphorical battlefield, in order for her to treat me inferior I needed to convince her that she was superior to me. The first step in doing that was to give her a name.
I came up with something and said
"Well… How about Kaita?"
The system looked at me even more perplexed and out of sheer confusion let out a nasal-voiced
"Mmh?"
I sighed slightly and said
"Your name… You need one in order to treat me properly."
The system lit up significantly and responded
"If that's what you wish for, master!"
The grip was suddenly stronger around my chest.
I responded by yelling
"Don't call me 'master'! It freaks me out. Besides, I'm not the one who chooses if that's what your name or not. You're the one who decides that, right!?"
The now named Kaita started playing around with her hair a bit and said
"Well, I like it. So my name will from now on be 'Kaita'."
"Whatever..."
I suddenly felt some sort of pulling force, trying to pull me backward. I considered what it could be, and came to the conclusion that
"I'm waking up in the real world! It was half-great talking to you and all, Kaita. But I must go now: I have some powers to delete."
Before Kaita even had the chance to respond, I flew into a black abyss that had been created behind me.
After my whatever-it-now-was body had disappeared, Kaita simply waved her right hand slowly and happily whispered to herself
"Kaita, huh? It's a good name, although somewhat unoriginal. I mean, he just changed a letter from 'Kaito', didn't he?"
…
"I think he's waking up!"
"Really!?"
The screams echoed in my head as I quickly raised my body. Once I opened my eyes and the orange-toned infirmary with several people sitting around a bed that I was lying in. The beautiful orange and golden colored room made me realize that I for sure wasn't going to get free time today. I made some internal and ironic celebrations in my head, but right after I managed to do that, my head suddenly started hurting and I grabbed the back of my head.
"You shouldn't move around like that!" Aya quickly uttered as I held the source of my pain. I was quickly put down into the bed again by the living anime reference.
I looked around to scan my environment once again, the whole Kenjiro-watching-pact was gathered… plus Kanton.
There was a certain mix between worry and relief in their expressions, even the famed Anami shared this mix. Once I had safely landed in the bed again, I said
"Oh-hoh, Anami this isn't like you. Where is the usual death glare I receive?"
Anami was fl.u.s.tered and turned her head away and said
"Shut up! I may want you to suffer a bit, but I don't want you to die, or risk your life..."
I chimed in quickly with one of my all-time-cla.s.sics
"You should"
The response was a 5-person sigh filled with disappointment and relief.
I just looked around in a confused state. Anami looked at me once again and said
"As an apology for my underestimation of the problem, I'm thinking of giving you some free time."
Everybody in the room performed a long and harmonious "Eeeeeeeeeeeh?" in unison.
- Some free time, huh…
I would humbly accept something like that, but
that goes against my principle of not being treated as a special person.
Now, this is what I call a moral conundrum...-
