Chapter 7:  A saved life

「Obaba-sama, this way!」 (TL note: no proper way to translate this in english while keeping the nuance)

「Ahh, It’s the smell of blood. Let’s hurry up, Helen!」

Obaba-sama and I are currently running through the densely wooded forest. If you ask me why, we’ll have to jump back in time a bit.

Obaba-sama and I were travelling to the mansion of Count Kentry, who took care of Obaba-sama when she was a new adventurer.

Previously the Eldest son, Count Lepanto and Obaba-sama were good friends, so we went to inform him that we were moving.

In all truthfulness, we were supposed to return using Obaba-sama’s Light magic ‘Gate,’ but I wanted to look at the area where Obaba-sama used to live, so we decided to look around before returning.

As part of my training, I always use body strengthening on myself, in addition to my senses of smell and hearing.  So, while listening to Obaba-sama’s  「This is where I used to hunt」story, I sensed the smell I loathe.

It seems Obaba-sama noticed it, or rather, she sensed it even more clearly. The fact that this wasn’t the blood of a monster, but of a human.

It wasn’t just a drop of blood; it was an absurd amount of blood, so Obaba-sama immediately entered the forest. I immediately followed after Obaba-sama as she lead the way Shet slowed down so I could keep up. If Obaba-sama were to get serious, she would leave me behind in an instant.

When we neared the source of the  scent of blood, we saw the figure of a black haired boy, as well as the wolves surrounding him.

Obaba-sama immediately fired wind magic, turning the wolves into bits, but the boy is probably not alive anymore.  The amount of blood was just that much.

「Obaba-sama, how is it?」

I think he’s probably dead, but I still ask Obaba-sama to make sure.

「Helen! Quickly pa.s.s me a Hi-Potion! He’s still alive!」

No way?! To think he’d still be alive after losing this much blood. Immediately, I crouch down and take out the very best Hi-Potion I have on me.

Since neither Obaba-sama nor myself can use water magic, we can’t treat wounds. Instead, I keep potions for all types of injuries.

In order to feed the boy the potion, Obaba-sama turns him face up. Uwah! This is just terrible.  His left eye, as well as his body is deeply cut. On top of that, his right arm is in tatters.

His right arm and his body can be fixed with a potion but, it’ll take some time before he can use his right arm again….and his left eye is already…

「Helen, Let’s take the boy and leave.」

「I understand.」

I get close to where the boy collapsed, then I shoulder him and walk towards Obaba-sama. I won’t forgive him if he dares die in a place like this; I even used an expensive Hi-Potion on him!

Obaba-sama opened the gate and we returned home.

At that time, I didn’t think that I would be friends with this boy for so long. That was how Redius and I first met.

「……meh, ……poh,……s.h.i.+cha!」 (Gibberish I don’t understand)

「……guu」

What the heck? Something’s jumping around on my face?

「Ah! I said, on top of him is……」

「Guh!」

Uguu! It’s an attack to my belly this time. What the h.e.l.l is it?

「Uuu……」

I opened my eyes, trying to wake myself up. Uu, it’s so bright! Why the h.e.l.l is it so bright? Eventually, my eyes got used to it, and……

「Guu guu!」

……there it was, staring at meーーa black rabbit. It looked like a White Rabbit, but it was black from head to toe. Uoh! It suddenly licked my face. Th-That tickles! This thing’s really friendly, isn’t it?

「So you’ve woken up?」

I was staring at the black rabbit when I noticed a beautiful girl looking at me. The color of her hair was that of the clear, blue sky; that was also her eye color. She had upturned eyes, giving off a strong impression; she really was a beauty.

「Wh-Who are you!? Wh-Where am I?」

「I’m Helen Ragres. This is where the Magic Sword King lives. She was formerly an S rank adventurer, and she’s my Obaba-sama. We saved you when you were dying in the forest, so be thankful, okay?」  (TN: magic sword, not sword king that’s magical
