Chapter 7 Part3

The postmarks for the mail delivery are also all over the city. There was no unifying point, no fingerprints could be found, the location of the shooting could not be determined, and so no clues could be found at all.

That also fits the pattern of kidnapping cases.

But bizarrely, each time the ransom was traded, the kidnappers did not show up and all contact was cut off until the child's corpse surfaced torn apart.

At first, the police thought that the kidnappers might know that the parents had called the police and were afraid of ambus.h.i.+ng them, so they did not dare to show up, and thus the ransom was prepared privately for the deal. As a result, no kidnapper showed up and got in contact with the family again. So, in their panic, the family had to call the police.

The kidnappers abducted eight children, all of whom were ripped apart, but the kidnappers did not receive a single ransom.

Isn't that f.u.c.ked up!

To this end, the police are under even more pressure because they are looking for not just a kidnapper, but a serial killer.

The members of the investigation team have not slept together for three days and nights. Without finding a clue for the suspect, they can only sit around and read the data collected in hand over and over again. They've also gone through the scenes of the children's disappearance repeatedly, scoured the places where the bodies were found over and over again, not to mention clues, there was not even a single eye witness.

They are all asking themselves, is this really man made?

Jing Sa looked at the latest forensic report in her hand, and her pair of black eyes were blazing furiously. The hands clenching the report trembled a bit. It's not because she has never seen a corpse. She sometimes even thought that she's used to life and death and has been numb long ago. But reading every word in the report, she felt as if her heart was being stabbed hard by a knife.

The children were strangled by ropes, but not all at once, but multiple times.

The forensic doctor concluded that the kidnappers used noose, which were fastened around their necks and then slowly pulled them up. Their hands must have been tied behind their backs, and when their feet were off the ground, they struggled desperately for breath ending to their badly lacerated wrists. And when they were on the point of suffocation, they were lowered down again, and so on and so forth, subjecting them to chokehold on the noose; much like a person with hands tied behind his back and his head pressed into the water. And when he is about to suffocate, he is lifted up again and then pressed down again, and so it is with these children.

What kind of person would subject an innocent child to such torture?

Jing Sa's hands trembled uncontrollably as she slammed the report on the table in anger, “b.a.s.t.a.r.d! Beast!”

Xiao Li, who was napping on the chair, was startled awake, fell off the chair and got up in panic, "Team Leader Jing, I wasn't sleeping! I was….just….”

“I'm not blaming you, it's the same for everyone these days, get as much sleep as you can.”

Xiao Li, who dared to sleep, saw that the ashtray on the table was full out, so with numb hands and feet took out to clean it up.

"If we still can't have a breakthrough on this case, Chief Deng is going to kill us." Zhang Yoecheng, who is beside Jing Sa, is a veteran criminal police officer who has worked for more than twenty years and solved many big cases, but this time it is a waterloo.

Chief Deng is the Director of the Public Security Bureau, Deng Keqiang.

Jing Sa said, “Not only him, I'm afraid even the director of the Provincial Public Security Bureau will come.”

"What the h.e.l.l do you think these kidnappers are, how could there be no trace of them?" Zhang Youcheng doesn't believe in ghosts and G.o.ds, but this case is really baffling.

Xiao Li, who happened to return with the clean ashtray, heard the exchange of the two and was also shrouded in a cloud of misery.

Jing Sa stood in front of the whiteboard and continued to study. She just couldn't figure out how the kidnappers had taken the children away.

This big day continued long way to dawn. Jing Sa went to the bathroom and washed her face. Once she went back, she resumed hunting for clues. At noon, she had no appet.i.te at all, but she swallowed her exhaustion till the afternoon. She left the police station and went to a nearby supermarket to buy herself a refres.h.i.+ng drink. Before she could finish it, her phone rang.

“Leader Jing, where are you?” It was Xiao Li's call.

A bad hunch immediately shook Jing Sa's heart.

“We've just got a report that another boy has gone missing from the Fifth Department Store……..”

The can in Jing Sa's hand slipped off and smashed on the ground, spilling juice all over the place as she sprinted out of the supermarket.

In front of the Public Security Bureau, everyone is ready to get into the car and head to the scene of the incident. Jing Sa also rushed to follow, but when she reached the car, she asked herself, is this going to be useful?

They've rushed the previous few times to the area in the same manner, but was the child saved?

She was lost in thought, completely incognizant of Xiao Li's urging.

A small white face steeply flashed in her mind ……

Jing Sa clenched her hands into fists, and then addressed Xiao Li, “You and Lao Zhang go, let me go somewhere first!”

Xiao Li wasn't about to ask where she was going. He spared no time and quickly got into the police car with Zhang Youcheng.

Jing Sa returned to the conference room, shoved all the information on the desk into her briefcase, and then drifted off in her car like a race car driver.
