In a quiet night.

Her body was incessantly s.h.i.+vering, and her head violently moved from side to side.

In heavy dark mist, a blood-red eyes were visible and staring at her blankly. It looked at her calm and quietly. Those b.l.o.o.d.y eyes were what she saw again and again in her nightmare…

In that dream, she stood in a crowded area. All of the people were like ghosts with the same blank looks. Drizzle was coming down from the dark sky, the wet pavement was like a mirror that reflecting the glaring of the police light, with the surrounding area was covered in yellow line. Many of the man was wearing vest with “SWAT” letter in it.

It happened in a Bank at the Was.h.i.+ngton DC, USA. The Bank was hijacked by a criminal group for the last 6 hours. There was 36 people in it as a hostage, but the negotiation for them had failed. So the SWAT team finally chose to raid inside.

As the bank's door was suddenly opened, the frightened hostages were rus.h.i.+ng out while covering their head with hands. The rescuers immediately covered them in blanket and doing various emergency care for them.

When everything slowly back to tranquility, she finally stepped inside the bank and looked at the bank's counter. There was a married couple in their middle-age, besides them there was also a young man. The couple was kneeling side by side with the man, with their body tied, they were also strapped in vest with a blinking red light in the waist of it. All of the professional personnel that was there immediately knew what it was.

Boom!

The sound of an explosion sounded out without warning. The destroyed limbs from the explosion were flying out, blood splattered on her face.

A sudden strong emotion finally made her couldn't able to hold back her screams and jumped up from her bed into sitting position. But she couldn't erase the scene from her mind. So she buried her face into her thighs while she was also hugging her s.h.i.+vering body in her arms, and she drenched in cold sweat.

When she still couldn't stop her panic attack, in the end she could only bite the flesh of her knees with her trembling teeth. She bit it ruthlessly until she could taste something coppery inside her mouth. But her mind was still numb she couldn't feel any pain at all.

As she was on the verge of having a breakdown, she felt a small breath slid across her face with a slight of wetness. Then she raised her pale face.

“Woof! Woof woof!!” A dark-furred German Shepherd that she didn't knew when it came up but was already sitting next to her, eagerly licking her face with its tongue.

Its touch magically calmed her down, she extended her arms and rubbed gently on its head. “Sesame…”

The big dog that was called Sesame, was shaking its tail and acted like a spoiled child while excitedly rubbing against her.

She glanced at her alarm clock on the bedside, it was just 3 o'clock in the very early morning. Just as before she had insomnia again.

As she was stroking the warm fur of Sesame, it helped to drive away the fear, anxiety, and coldness in her mind. But as she didn't feel any drowsiness again, she just kept stroking Sesame like this. And slowly morning came, Sesame still quietly stayed on guard besides her, truly doveted to stand by guarding.

When the clock was showing at 6 o'clock, she had already calmed herself down. A glimmer of suns.h.i.+ne was peeking inside through the window. She got up from the bed, went straight to the bathroom to brush her teeth and took a shower, it took her 15 minutes to refresh herself up. She tied her long hair up into a ponytail and changed into sport tank top and shorts. Then she walked to the kitchen to get some water from the refrigerator, let the cool water to moisten up her dry throat. Sesame came besides her and put down its collar near her feet, its tail shook excitedly.

She smiled and put it on Sesame, and she also put on its vest that had “police dog” words on it. She took some mineral water, key, and money change into her waist bag. Then led Sesame to start their morning run.

It was 6:30 am, the air was still fresh and clean and also somewhat a bit cold. There were some elderly who were doing some exercises in the neighborhood. The gra.s.s was still wet with morning dew, she ran out from the neighborhood gate into the s.p.a.cious sideways. Sesame followed along closely with her running rhythm, and as it was a well-trained police dog before, it would never run faster nor slower than its master, it would absolutely keep up with her pace.

After running for 3 kilometer, she crossed the street then turned around to start running back home. As she ran back, she pa.s.sed through a familiar small store to buy some breakfast. The small store was run by a plump aunty, who had already knew her usual choice. So she had already prepared a takeout for her.

“XiaoXiao, morning!”

The Xiao (皛), meaning the sky is cloudless, had the same p.r.o.nunciation with “Xiao(曉)” that was meant bright and s.h.i.+ning wish.

“Good morning Aunty Wu.” She threw 5 one-yuan coins from the doorway into the basket, with G.o.dly accuracy. Then she went inside and took her takeaway breakfast. And started running back to her house.

There were a lot of regular customer who had their breakfast there. They saw the same routine every morning, so her appearance wasn't a stranger to them, but it was still an amazing things to see.

Aunty Wu funnily looked straight into the young man's eyes in front of her. “Hey watch out! You spilled your milk all over the place.”

The man scratch his head shyly. “She's so pretty.”

All of the customer inside the store immediately laughed in agreement.

“When it came to such a good-looking woman you guys can have an agreement so fast.” A middle-aged woman teased them lightly while eating some steam bun, then she asked Aunty Wu. “Where is this girl from? For such a beautiful girl to exist.”

Aunty Wu that was giving some change money for the diner, looked around and answered. “I don't know.”

“Aunty Wu, you saw her everyday, how come you don't know it. Couldn't you asked around about her?”
