With that thought, Lin Yi spoke up. “You say that a kid at the orphanage got an infection? I'll go check it out for you and treat her.”

Xiake paused- Lin Yi was a doctor? She didn't know that. “You're… A Doctor?”

“Didn't I heal your injuries back then?” Lin Yi smiled.

“Didn't you… use qi for that?” Xiaoke blinked. “Isn't that different?”

“I'm also a doctor.” Lin Yi smiled.

Lin Yi could simply give Xiaoke some money and let her bring Xiao Yan to the hospital herself since it wasn't a big deal. But he wanted to confirm if Xiaoke was lying or not.

He did lean towards believing her, but she was a thief, after all, and he didn't know her that well. There was no guarantee that she was telling the truth all the time. Doing this would help verify what she said to Goudan, too.

Of course, if Xiaoke were telling the truth, he wouldn't mind helping her- he'd been touched by her spirit, after all. As he spent time here, he felt like he synchronized with the people around him. He wasn't that cold person he used to be anymore.

Lin Yi didn't try to resist his change in his heart, either. He needed to adapt to this life.

“Then… Thank you!” Xiaoke said, not doubting Lin Yi's words.

“You're welcome.” Lin Yi smiled and turned to Goudan. “Let's go see together?”

“Alright!” Goudan wanted to see if she was a liar or not, too. If she were, he'd punish her then. If not, then he had wronged her, and that'd make him feel better about losing the money. At least his kindness wasn't wasted.

“s.h.i.+eld Bro, I want to go too!” Yushu wanted to see what the orphanage was like, too.

“Then we'll go together.” Lin Yi didn't stop her. Mengyao and Yushu weren't very wasteful, but their understanding of money was shallow. Letting them see the orphans' lives would be quite educational. “I'll drive Shu's Beetle with Goudan. Xiaoke, you can sit with Shu's car?”

It had been a long time since Lin Yi met Goudan, and naturally, there were things he wanted to talk to him about in private.

“Alright.” Mengyao nodded as the three of them went for the Audi S5.

The two cars drove out of the villa, with Lin Yi in front.

“Is Yu Yuanyuan a girl you like?” Judging from the way Goudan talked about her, he could tell something was up. “How did you meet her?”

“Haha…” Goudan scratched his head embarra.s.sedly. “You saw through me after all, Boss. I do like her quite a bit. I want to bring her back to be my wife…”

“Oh?” Lin Yi didn't expect that Goudan would be touched enough to want to marry her. He was curious. “How long have you been here? A couple of days? What happened?”

“Well, it's a long story…” Goudan told everything to Lin Yi, from when he got scammed on the train, and when he went to the burger shop and leading to his fight with Fighter Li…”

Lin Yi almost choked on his cough she listened to this story- what a story it was! Goudan went to the arena and killed the Fighter Li guarding that place? The guy sure was unlucky to have met him.

“Did the arena come to cause you trouble later?” Lin Yi asked, surprised.

“No, but they sent someone to pay us money.” Goudan shook his head

Lin Yi nodded. It was natural. They were probably horrified of what happened.

“And then Miss Yu got bitten by the lion, and you came looking for justice?” Lin Yi asked.

“Yeah, I didn't expect to be able to meet you, boss!” Goudan was a bit excited.

“Then what about Yu Yuanyuam? Does she like you?” Lin Yi knew that this was the first time Goudan liked someone, and he didn't want him to get hurt. Yuanyuan's att.i.tude was important.

“I think so, probably…” Goudan nodded after some thought. “Plus, her parents treat me very nicely, too, and her father even wants me to stay here and help him with his shop…”

“But, can you leave West Star village? The fountain? You have to go back eventually.” Lin Yi reminded with a frown. “Will Yu Yuanyuan go back with you?”

“She… I don't know…” Goudan blinked, remembering his special situation despite not having thought about it much recently. He couldn't leave the fountain for too long.

Yuanyuan liking her was something Goudan was pretty certain of, but telling a girl to go to some village and give up city life? This really wasn't something to look forward to. Even Goudan didn't want to leave after witnessing what a city was like, let alone YUanyuan.

And so, Goudan was in a difficult position.

“Find a chance to talk to her about it- this sort of thing should be addressed,” Lin Yi knew that Goudan might lose her if they were to make the talk, but blurring through everything wasn't a good solution at all. “You've used your strength twice, right? The parasites in your body will start attacking you if they don't have the fountain's nourishment. You probably won't last long this time.”

“Yeah…” Goudan sighed. “I'll find a time to talk to her about it.”

Lin Yi nodded. He could only give him pointers, this wasn't his issue, after all. It all depended on the relations.h.i.+p between the two. Thinking of Yuanyuan, Lin Yi couldn't help but remember Tang Yin, a determined and stubborn girl.

She was willing to throw everything behind and go back to the village last time, and this really touched him- he swore that he'd treat her well for her entire life. Thinking back to her time with her- although a bit normal and bland- it was a happy and fond memory.

Sometimes, you didn't need too many twists and turns in a relations.h.i.+p – a nice calm one was the best.
